@@mixednarwhal I do think there were a couple that had a bit of a green flash at the edge of the screen right at the end, but it might not have been all of them.
There's a moment i noticed rewatching season 1 that i think perfectly encapsulates the impact Debbie has as a character. When Mark is still getting used to his powers he acts definitely towards her and she calls him out on it, asking him if it makes him feel good knowing she can't physically make him do something. Mark was starting to get drunk on his own power and i think the conversation they have in that scene shows why THIS Mark didn't go along with Nolan. Cuz Debbie reminded him being strong enough to do whatever you want doesn't make you right.
Doc Seismic is probably my favorite villain in the show, he's such a Doofinsmirtz of a mad scientist in an otherwise visceral and serious take on superhero media. The delivery of "You can KEEP the ones made of *wood* ..." was excellent.
Damn I didn't notice until now that when Mark offers to make dinner for mom in episode 1 he reflexively pulls down three plates and just stares at them
Kate was a teen while part of Teen team but they literally grew up, also as mentioned Kate has lived dozens of simultaneous lives so she is probably hundreds of years old in terms of collective memory. (she probably died more then immortal but hasn't lived nearly as long) also the "why does he always let angstrom live" he probably doesn't but these are the ones who survived to be part of that experiment.
Mark had those powerful bursts of anger before, but it finally lead to someone's death. Even If the person in question deserved it, that lack of self control is dangerous and scary.
I know the Rex Splode special will go crazy. Considering how Rex said he never went to High School or had a home, I can only imagine the family problems he’s gonna have.
One thing that I love is that during the talk between Mark and Amber at the end of episode 7, it seems like they deliberately do the opposite of some of the animation shortcut talk at the beginning of the same episode. There's a close-up on Amber's mouth, side views where you can see both of them talking at once, and so on. Maybe I'm reading too much onto it, but I thought it was cool.
Imo one reason they leaned so heavily into the comicon scene was to get to people to pay more attention to the animation and notice how RARELY the Invincible team relies on those animation shortcuts and really put in the work for the show. So maybe audiences will let the studio cook and won't complain about the downtime between seasons so much.
He’s had his brain picked and prodded all his life in order to put a chip in it to give him his powers I assume that’s what allowed him to keep full motor function when bullet goes through it
@@phinoxford8741 that'd be really interesting actually. I wonder if neuroplasticity would increase the chances of retaining brain function after a gunshot
@@phinoxford8741that's a clever explanation. I love a universe that can have subtle explanations AND magic explanations in as much emphasis as each other
Theres this quote from the Snowpiercer series that has stuck with me. "It's okay to miss him. And to hate him. You know what? It's even okay to love him."
Rex suffered a through the head by a small bullet with a clean exit wound about the same size as the entry wound. People survive much worse. If the exit wound was larger or the bullet didn't exit he'd be dead for sure, though
I actually know someone who was shot in the head at close range and survived, and the bullet is still in his brain a few decades later because apparently it would've been too risky for the doctors to remove, so even if the bullet had gotten stuck it would've still been possible for Rex to survive
im so glad you loved s2 as much as i did! i think the s1 finale is still my favorite episode of the show overall, but i felt like s2 had a more consistently enjoyable quality to it, and it definitely improved on a few things that frustrated me about s1. i really appreciate how the show takes its time to linger on the slow character-building moments instead of rushing to big fights
I’ve seen a lot of people think the same thing of “why does he always want angstrom to suffer/ why don’t the other marks kill him”. Im sure the other marks do kill him, but the amalgam one wouldn’t have their memories then
24:43 Nah King Lizard is so inexperienced in combat he decided to shoot Rex right at the edge of his head basically maximizing his chance to survive. Sprinkle in a lil comic logic and he is good to go.
Debbie is 100% peak character, I love the way they wrote her so much. You can see why Omni Man chose her, which I think is harder than it might look. She is too principled, and too caring, to let him walk over her or allow him to raise Mark to be any different. She's absolutely the reason that this universe is different - I even think she's the reason Omni Man is different. I wonder if we'll get an explanation as to why she's different. Also want to say - I love how you do reactions, condensing the whole thing down to a single video and showing stills. It makes your videos super easy to watch without feeling like I'm having to take the time to rewatch the show in the process. I appreciate it!
One of the things I really love about invincible in both the comic and the show is that it successfully balanaces genuine moments, sincerity, and ultra violence. A lot of comics with hardcore violence just feel so insincere like the comic version of the boys which only seems to do things for shock value. One of the things I love about the hardcore violence is that even though I love hardcore violence in media Invincible handles it in a way that has a real purpose.
The ammount of times you've said something that I know does come true later on has me reeling in anticipation & worry to see your reaction, and hear your thoughts to it.
I loved this season so much and the show being true to the comics while also fleshing out the characters so much is so good. I love your thoughts and analysis of the show and hope season 3 comes sooner than later. There is so much more to come, its intense
I think ~I just found one of my new favourite reaction channels, imma go back through some more of your videos and check those out too, really cool content man. Keep it up!
Hi Bill! Love your videos and was happy to see your thoughts and reaction to Invincible. Season 2 really blew me away in a lot of ways, and one of my favorite parts was how they dove deeper into Donald’s character and trauma (I love how you call him Bobby Hill btw). Looking forward to seeing your Atom Eve reaction! If you’re looking for any shows to react to in the future, I’d love to see your thoughts on Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Dungeon Meshi, or Mob Psycho 100.
the only thing i didn't like from season 2 is how they seems to be expanding the power scalling part too fast like in the first season we feel like omniman was the roof, the absolute limit and the viltrumites's menase is just having an army of nolan's equals fighting together in season 2 we got those few viltrumites who defied nolan, the 1 eye guy who's clearly stronger, anissa who seems to be stronger too (or at least more effective in combat than him) and now allen and his boss. We have now a whole plot of planet-punching beings with the war subplot going on and if we learned something from dragon ball is that this only dooms the other 70% of the cast to be literally useless and irrelevant very soon. and that's a shame with how the earth heroes and characters are obviously the best part of the show, but their power level is just not enough to eventually keep track. At the start of S2 we see how even Eve's incappable of doing anything against mark and she is potentially THE STRONGER person in the cast so... yeah, im counting the days until the human cast get throwed to the backrooms as mark flies into the space war along allen and his father or something
Donald has to be the character I’m most surprised that I loved. Season 2 carried the emotional highs so much higher. So dam excited for the next season
Hey, I was wondering if you could react to a band called Roar? They’re one of my favorite bands and I listen to their music quite often, and i think you’d like them too! Not many people talk about them- The songs I suggest listening to are: Duck or Ape, Flightless Bird, The Comfort of a Laugh Track, Truck Stop Tiger, Christmas Kids, and I Can’t Handle Change!!
Rex probably only pulled that off because his powers come from a chip put in his brain when he was a kid, his brain has be picked and prodded at that being shot through wasn’t enough to stop him
a bullet which passes entirely through your body carries a significant amount of wasted energy out with it - energy that was carefully maximized before firing the bullet in the first place. It’s just thrown away. A bullet, however, which stops within the body cavity spends all its energy in there, doing as much damage as possible. If the shot wasn’t a through and through the bullet would have bounced around in his skull killing him instantly. I doubt it was just the “His brain has been picked and prodded” thing
I think the writers/creators are writing more or less to your specific dynamic. Evidence of this is you frequently call a plot point or exact line of dialogue right before it happens. Which is great, know your audience. But i think for a lot of the rest of us the show can be way more hit or miss.
I don't know why everyone always shits on the mummy for being "sexist" the dude was stuck there by a magic curse, he didn't make the rules, the evil Egyptian warlock or whoever cast the spell did. It's like getting pissed at sleeping beauty for falling asleep instead of the witch for making the apple in the first place.
@@thethirdbill ehh, understandable, didn't think you were mad. I just see alot of people get confused and talk shit on the mummy. I'm sure he wouldn't give a shit what new body he'd be able to possess if it were up to him. and, right apple was snow white. I get those two confused alot, haven't watched the old Disney classics in decades
@@thethirdbill my wonderful experience with kingdom hearts is playing them in reverse. I played and beat 2 before ever realizing it was a sequel. I fell in love with Roxas before my sweet boy was ripped away from me. T_T
Kate is/was 100% a teenager. Arguably after the timeskip she could have been 20, but according to stuff creators of the show have talked about in regards to Teen Team all their members were supposed to be 17/18 when Mark met them. So. She's 19 max. Immortal and Kate also have zero scenes where they look at or talk to each other until the scene in the last ep. Yes. The public shower gang bang they never do either of those things. It's also a direct callback to her and Rex, which was clearly not a good decision/relationship. So... if they wanted me not to have instantly shitty thoughts about the two of them they shouldn't have drawn that parallel. We also are given zero time w either of them, so him being ~so sad just feels so cheap. The two of them actually helping each other w their death trauma (w Donald) could have been interesting. But instead... I need to watch this left field romance ?? Just. Gross. Also just... not happy they kept future Eve's speech to Mark. The two of them could have had a perfectly organic build up. Her whole speech just felt demeaning to me. Like. Girl. I suppose that's the one thing that's a little frustrating about Invincible, is that it puts a lot of emphasis on romantic relationships and doesn't really let others have nearly as much space.
Debbie really is one of the best characters in tv right now and certainly the best cartoon mom. This woman is put through so much. I wouldn’t blame her for just ditching Mark and Oliver at this point lmao. Bestie just needs to retire in Hawaii, get remarried, and start over 💀 She *definitely* shouldn’t take Nolan back
It irks me when people have some issue with immortal and Kate for their age difference. Is immortal just not allowed to be with anyone then? He’s gonna be older than damn near anyone, so is he just supposed to be alone forever? Which, if he isn’t killed, could very well be actually forever…. Then also with monster girl and Rudy. They are both adults, just look young. Get over it. It’s not even like Rudy is in it for the young body she has (the thing btw he is making effort after effort to fix). It was a genuine connection he felt and perused. Same genuine connection that Kate felt with immortal. Stop being a child and acting like these characters are just supposed to be alone because you are too immature to accept that these cursed/super powered fake people want to date. Rant over. Again, for the love of it, get over it.
i didnt say they should be alone, and yes the age gap is alarming for me, also the fact rudy and immortal are both the boss of their love interest makes it stranger to me. Not only are these power dynamics off putting for me personally, it felt redundant to repeat it. This is a scripted fictional story, I am a real person. I have feelings. Ive experienced awful things and can have reactions to story elements that remind me of those things.
@@peaceoutbruh7085 i dont lol but yeah first viewing my eye was drawn to the right with the panning shot... and i wasn't familiar with immortal's face... it's still very absurd and hilarious to me
i just have my macbook for editing/streaming lol i dont have a pc so saving up for a ps5 would be cheaper/easier... unless you're saying you want to send me a gaming pc lmaoooo wouldn't turn my nose up if one fell into my lap
@@thethirdbill lol I wish I had that kind of money to throw around, didn't realise you edited on a mac so fair enough. Also didn't realise the game wasn't available on mac, but I guess that makes sense. Not sure if the game is easy to run on the Steam Deck, but I have seen people run it on that. Yeah, it might just be easiest to run it on the PS5 then.
no worries. i get that a LOT on the gaming channel and im always trying to gently remind everyone im broke and my content is made with equipment held together by ducktape while trying to save money and waiting for things to go on sale lol
@@9553shadow no worries. just wanted to reaffirm its okay we respond to things differently. but yeah i talk about it in s1 video and its just how i am.
I really thought Amber was going to be a massive See You Next Tuesday after Season 1. I didn't know how, I didn't know why, I just felt there was a big c-moment coming, I could feel it in my bones they were winding up that back-swing. I'm glad I was wrong.
