On international flights, you must consume meats, cheeses, fruits and some seeds before you go through Customs. Just don't take too much thinking you can save it for later.

I am so happy about the confirmation that liquids can be carried in my carry on as long as I am following the 3-1-1 rule. It was just kind of confusing with persons saying no liquids are not allowed any at all on the plane.

The are two set of Rules 1. The TSA rules and then 2. The airline you're using rules. i.e., TSA won't allow a bottle of water but the airline will. TSA could care less about the size o and weight of your carry on but the airlines sure do.
For those who are interested in knowing, the fruits from Puerto Rico to the United States cannot have the seeds. For example, the mango has to be chopped and frozen to be able to take it to the United States. This applies to apples, grapes, oranges, mango, whole pears fruit with seed.
Many airlines have prohibited carry-on mini alcohol bottles on flights. You should always check with your airline before taking any 3-1-1 compliant alcohol onboard in carry-on luggage for in flight consumption.
It's good to see a recent video about LAG rules in the US. I work as a screening officer in Canada, and I sometimes hear from passengers that they weren't restricted while flying in the US. Of course, I know better, but it is nice to see it confirmed. The one difference between the rules for our countries is about frozen liquids; they are subject to the same restrictions as their non-frozen counterparts. On a related note, does TSA restrict inorganic powders, like salt or sand? In Canada, you can have a maximum of 350g of such substances.
The TSA does not restrict sand or salt here in the U.S. They may want to inspect it if you have large quantities of it but there is no limit to how much you can carry.
@@BenDreamVacations Okay. I think that the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority restricts those things because they resemble gunpowder, eg, on x-ray. Since we aren't in a position to do chemical analyses, all things that look like that on x-ray are restricted.
@@everymorning9437 The rules in Canada are essentially the same as in the U.S. The same liquid, aerosol, and gel restrictions. Actually, there is one subtle difference: in Canada a frozen item is treated the same as if it were not frozen, so no ice packs or frozen bottles of water.
Yes, you can take frozen meat in vacuum sealed packages in either carry-on or checked luggage. If you are going to be taking ice packs it will probably be best to pack the meat along with the ice packs in your checked bag, otherwise the ice packs will need to be completely frozen in your carry-on when going through security.
Of course you can always get thru TSA & pay outrageous airport prices for foods you can carry on the plane ( assuming they fit in your carryon or personal bag- no extra bags).
The baby formula is not true. They made me dump out the pre made bottles before going through the check point. So I was left with nothing for my baby to feed on a 3 hour flight. That was at O’Hara airport in Chicago. Needless to say neither of us was very happy about that flight.
Hi Shannon, first I am so sorry to hear that happened to you. I am not sure why they would have you dump out the formula since it clearly states that baby formula is considered medically necessary and you are allowed to carry it through security. In fact your baby doesn't even need to be present to be able to carry the formula. Did the TSA give you a reason why? The only thing I can think of that would be an issue is if the bottles of formula were not in clear translucent bottles. If you are planning on flying again with your baby I would suggest you contact the TSA before you fly out. They can address your concerns about the screening process and provide assistance to you www.tsa.gov/contact-center/form/cares or by phone at (855) 787-2227. Hopefully someone else can chime in as well and share their experience with taking baby formula through security.
As long as the Subway sandwich and chicken doesn't have any condiments, dressing or sauce on it you can take it with you through security. Otherwise, if there is a Subway or Popeyes inside the secured area you can order whatever you like and take it on the plane with you.

You are ok to take a small electric kettle in your carry-on or checked bag. For the portable blender the blade has to be removed. You won't be able to carry the blade part of the blender through security but if you plan to check a bag then you can pack it in your checked bag with the blade wrapped. As for the wagon, you will need to check with the airline you will be flying on to see if they have any restrictions for storing a wagon on the plane but you are allowed to take one through security.

Hello Wayne from South Africa! I am not too familiar with the 3 in 1 coffee sachets. Are they just in powder form? If so, here in the US anything in powder form over 12oz must be taken out of your bag and placed in a bin for x-ray screening.

You can, but the ice does have to be completely frozen when going through security. Or you can dump the ice out before going into the airport and then try and get ice once you are through security.
Pack any food that you will be taking in spill proof containers or zip lock bags along with any ice packs. You will want to pack your food in the middle of your luggage to prevent your food from getting smashed. Checked luggage are handled rather roughly so packing your food away from the outsides of the luggage will prevent damage.
I called Boston Airport and they said no vegetables, no meat, and no seads are allowed in checked suitcases 😕 I am moving to the USA from morocco as an international student and I really want to bring the food my mom made me 😅😭 any suggestions
I wish I had some suggestions for you but it is really hard to bring food into the U.S. from other country. You can ship food as long as its from one individual to another but I am not sure how well it would keep or how long it would take. Other than that I don't know of another you you can bring food into the U.S. I hope the move goes well for you and welcome to the U.S.!
@@rosemarywillis5878 yes, you can take snacks on the plane with you. When you arrive in Ireland however, you won’t be able to bring any meat and dairy products into the country as well as some fruits and vegetables.
Okay so if I'm going on a 12 hour flight, I can take as many 'dry'meals as I want but if I want sauces with this they have to be in a 3.4oz container? I.e. I can take cooked chicken + salad, pasta + pesto, beef steak + cooked vegetables?
Hi Tom, you can take as many dry meals as you would like. Any cooked meat, seafood, vegetables are all ok to take with you on the plane as long as long as there is no liquid associated with the food. Any sauces or dressings that you want to take would have to be 3.4oz or less. If you are going international, any leftover food may not be allowed to enter the country.

Hi Crystal, you would have a hard time bringing anything that has a sauce or spread on them. Although taking unopened packaged condiments would be ok to take. As long as the wraps and sandwiches you take are dry without any sauces or condiments already on them you can take as many as you like. And yes they can be packed in one of those zippered lunch boxes.

The TSA requests all snack food items be kept together in a separate, clear plastic bag. The bag is not restricted to the quart size, but they do recommend pulling out the bag & placing in the bin for TSA inspection.

Yes, if your children are baby/toddler age then you can take drinks and food including puree pouches greater than the 3.4oz allowed. If your kids are older then you can just keep it to solid snacks.
You can check it or bring it onboard the airplane with you. If you are going to be brining the sausage on the plane with you and you need to keep it cool, just make sure that whatever you are using to keep it cool is completely frozen when you go through security. Otherwise, it's probably better to pack the sausage in a checked bag if you think the ice packs might not be all the way frozen when you get to the airport.
Unfortunately no. The U.S. won’t allow to you to carry any type of rice from another country. You can however buy jasmine rice here in the US at most stores.
You can buy anything you want , if you want to buy from duty free 10 bottles of cola you can :) as long you don't have a connecting flight:) if you buy the cola before first flight, after you land when you go through connection flight screening they will take your cola :p my example and my experience it's Romania -dubai ( 1 cola from duty free = 4-5 hours flight it's okay ) after I land and went through security they took my cola was half of bottle :p, went to second screening Dubai - Manila 10 hours flight and after that I went to duty free and bought a lot of McDonald's food and 2 bottles of coca cola + 3 bottle of water :p 2 extra bags :) and no one asked me anything. Only on screening they take your goods :)

It’s a paste so it would fall under the 3-1-1 rule if you want to carry it in a carry-on or personal item bag. Packing it in a checked bag would be no problem however.
You can carry canned goods in hand luggage as long it doesn't contain any liquid, gel, or paste in the can. I will say canned goods do not show up very well through the x-ray machine so its possible security will not allow you to carry it through if they can't get a good image of it. It's best to pack them in checked luggage if possible.

No problem to carry dry dog food. As long as the spaghetti contains no liquid it should be fine to pack in a carry-on. Most countries will not allow fruits into their country but you will have to check specifically with the country of Sri Lanka to verify.
If you are traveling to another country you will need to first check to make sure you will be allowed to bring those food items into the country. There are pretty strict rules about what what food items you are allowed to travel with in most countries. If you find out that there are no restrictions to carry these food items then you won't have any issue with the frozen food. I would just be careful about the frozen cream milk. If it shows any bit of melting then you will most likely be asked to dump it
Yup, they will make you throw them away. By the time you get to security, you have already checked your bag with the airline and it would be incredibly difficult to retrieve your checked bag at that point so they just make you throw it away.
You won't be able to get through security with a protein shake. But once you do get through you can purchase anything you want in the secured area to bring on the plane with you.
So I saw quite a few of the comments here asking about sandwiches... I wonder if they will actually open up the your bread and search for the mayonnaise /peanut butter 🤔!?

You said you can bring a water bottle but it needs to be empty. But most bottles are more than 100ml. You can still take a regular empty water bottle through TSA?
@@BenDreamVacations I wanted to comment on this, I made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and TSA said that was fine, that PB in a jar or container alone is not allowed over 3.4 oz but PB crackers and PB/jelly sandwiches are fine. Also flew back from Harrisburg after visiting Hershey with a 1 lb peanut butter cup and TSA double-screened it but let us pass.

I wonder if it's OK to fly from one state to another with one carry-on of frozen non-cooked egg-rolls with dry ice? The flight has one layover and total flight time is around 7 hours.
As long the egg-rolls are completely frozen long enough to get through security then you won't have any issues. After you get through security it won't matter if the egg-rolls start to thaw out a bit. You will also need to get approval with the airline you are flying with to carry dry ice. The FAA limits you to 5.5 pounds.

Yes, you can carry raw meat in your hand luggage as long as you are not traveling international. Most countries do not allow raw meat to be brought in from other countries.
No problem to carry baked salmon in a checked bag. You can also pack in a carry-on just as long as there is no liquid. If you are going international however, it probably won’t be allowed to enter the country you are going to.
