Well to be fair, it never elevated to a tsunami warning and was classified only as a tsunami threat. Even other states like Hawaii and other countries much closer to the volcano didn't get a tsunami warning either. I'm assuming those people on the beach knew that already. If they didn't, well then yea they deserve the Darwin Award indeed lol.

@@Vera-dg3hf It's not. It's terrifying. I live close to waters and the sky alone is creepy!!! One house I really wanted to buy was on a BEAUTIFUL tropical island. It was down below the roads and I went to drive by quite a few times. I realized I was having bad dreams of water over the island. So I googled... Sure enough. A huge tidal wave took over the island many moons ago and wiped out the bustling town. And that's why it's now a quite residential neighborhood on stilt houses.

But eventually you get tired of the humidity which caused my hair to frizz like crazy, things rust right away, wooden furniture near open windows will warp and have water damage, the ocean breeze carries in the ocean smell and fine sand/dust into the house, everything is coated with a layer of moisture. So having house keeping is a must. Windows need to be cleaned every week. And metals tarnish quickly.

Meaning that if it had happen that a bunch of people had gotten hurt and/or died because of the Tsunami, be it in Canada or in the U.S, you could care less if it was a Canadian, but if it was a U.S citizen then and only then you would actually care.
