my shield 3000 reel handled every fish and stingray that i hooked during the summer. what i don't think it's gonna survive is my attempt to take off the sideplates to clean and grease it, and yes, i used the handy tool with the help of an open end. why so tight ? i put less torque on my cars brake calipers to get them off!

I don't like the gaps between the handle and the body housing. The cover screw cap on the opposite side has the same gap. It looks like it wasn't threaded enough to fit flush.i was told it doesn't let water in.....i'll find out in October.

I have a mh 7 6 st criox avid inshore paired with a 3000 shield 20 lb spiderwire braid. It seems like its not casting well any possibilities you could list? i know for sure its not the rod, it feels like the line doesn't come off the reel smoothly when casting

The braid is probably not spooled on the reel property. I recommend either getting the reel spooled at a local tackle shop or doing it at home while making sure to keep ample pressure. There are plenty of videos on RU-vid on how to spool a spinning reel with braid, I recommend checking them out.

I love your short overview on here! I had a question for you, however. Between this, the fin nor lt100, and the Daiwa bg 8000 which would you yourself pick? I don't know much about the tsunami brand. I'll be doing pier fishing, large fresh water as well. Like large catfish and gar. Thank you!

I have many daiwa bait caster.. they all awesome.. spinning reels also powerful. Why don't you try tsunami reel and judge them yourself.

@@israelvibrations100 not as fast as 7.1 gear ratio. It's only 4.0 something. Look up the retrieve rate by gear ratio on Google. Fast retrieve rate is only for fast fish and technique fishing. Like tuna, etc.. these are for surf fishing. You don't need fast retrieve that's probably the purpose of these reels, but it has power and the retrieve is pretty smooth. The retrieve rate is fine unless you're talking about really fast retrieve, then look for another real. Baitcater reel probably offer this feature.

Hey J and H I have a 12 ft DaM Steelpower Blue telescopic surf rod. Would a 5500 Penn Spinfisher Vl Long Cast be ok for it? Its 19oz and holds 265 of 30lb braid.
