Not a storm surge, a volcanic-origin tsunami. Thanks for posting, interesting to see. Tsunami damage from the Hunga Tonga volcanic explosion was caused as far apart as Peru and Japan.
It could have been much worse, but I fear GOD is not finished with us humans. I hear HIM say, REPENT! Thank you for taking the time to document this phenomenon. What a beautiful and amazing thing our world is. If anyone is familiar with the Holy Bible, it tells that in the last days perilous time will come. What we saw in past tsunami events were just a precursor. The Bible tells that islands will be removed from their place. I just say, YIKES! Imagine what that means? Much love and peace, Jesus saves. Get on the ark of salvation. God BLESS!!
I live in Hawaii on the water. It's terrifying when we have a Tsunami alert. We're only 4-5 feet above sea level (depending on the tide). Thank goodness we dodged another one. Thanks for sharing your California footage. Scary and wild stuff. My heart aches for those in 🇹🇴 Tonga.
We all know it’s not “the smartest” thing to gawk at the shoreline after a tsunami alert.. but boy if this footage isn’t marvelous. Thanks for the view and I’m glad it wasn’t deadly on your end.
Thank you for explaining and demonstrating how this is dangerous to be on the beach!!! I was caught in one those caves down below years ago at high tide coming in we left while we could!
I really appreciate how you followed the waves at times. Especially the larger ones that traveled from way out into the distance and were able to crash near the shore. It was a pleasure seeing through your lens.
Wow, amazing. I'm in England and thankfully we haven't had anything like this...yet!!...but I just couldn't stop watching. I had to google the distance the waves have travelled, and was blown away to learn it's over 5000 miles. Unbelievable, truly unbelievable. Thanks for filming this.
Oh wow! I regret not going down there this afternoon to check this out. I also live in Santa Cruz. That’s crazy seeing the waves reacting like that! Amazing surges! Thanks for sharing! 🌊
Hey fellow Santa cruzing I too would have love seeing this in person live down there in 86 when the big quake hit a UCSC grad. Did catch Halleys Comet at the light house point😊
@@kathleendanford2631 If you're talking about the tsunami from Japan's earthquake, there are videos from a bunch of CA locations still posted on RU-vid. As you can see, water plowing up on a flat beach vs. bluffs vs. channeling around man made structures dramatically change the effects. Thanks to people sharing tsunami videos we can learn what size surge would be safe to go watch or stay away.
Used to live on 38th Ave and was at that beach at least twice-weekly in late '80's - early '90's. Pretty intense to see the swing of the water like that; good job and thanks for capturing this.
Oh yeah, you caught it just right. Thanks man.. best one I have seen.. really shows both at the bank and beach and out to sea where it is being sucked back.. Very Cool thanks !
Mt Prayers to California . My cousin who's Daughter and son in law Live In California I don't think she is that close But My Prayers go out to them to keep them safe

Thank you for taking the time to get this posted so quickly. We're in Vallejo and we were in Santa Cruz watching the surfers a few months back...when you could actually see the beach!

I’ve lived in California a very long time, and every time to go to the coast and I see the cliffs it always seems to me that waves have hit those cliffs a lot over a long period of time, makes me wonder how big of waves have hit those cliffs. Scary because any day a giant wave can come in. I read a few months back that a 75 foot waves was coming towards San Francisco. Imagine being on the beach on that day, scary shit!
Santa Cruz holds great memories for me...way way back in the day, my Dad use to take the whole clan(8!) from Montara, to the board walk and eat at The S.C. Inn, spaghetti night! Doobie Brothers lived on the back road ,SUNSHINE VALLEY RD to moss beach..MAVERICKS! see how I brought it around!?! Thanks for bringing back memories of the beach & my dad... I miss him bad... C. If these waves are like this in California I hope the Tongan people are all safe, can't imagine the devastation it has caused on the Island. God is showing what he is capable of, we all need to repent and pray.
Thanks for the video footage, amazing how fast that has come from Tonga,we to in new Zealand have suffered boat mooring damage in the top of the north island , boats have crashed together, and others have sunk, plus the high tide water along the coast, cheers 👍
Me too. My husband gave me a ride had a load for Lorenzo Lumber. I sat an bawled my eyes out the whole time I had left after graduation ing and the Big Quake. The Santa Cruz that cradled me for ten years was tarnished she still hadn't fully recovered this was 17 years ago I was last there.
Stay safe lol my god. Get a grip people. I'm sorry but what exactly are we staying safe from? This is every day in Maine or the coast of UK. Stay soft. 5 ft high tide!
Thank you for making this video I am absolutely amazed I have never seen something like this other than the devastating one that was down in South America this is something else
Thank God for the warnings. Imagine, if, there were no warnings, lives would have been lost. It's a new geographic map right before your eyes, thanks to the volcano 🌋 eruption
Paul now you said nuclear I am wondering because I have never heard of any under sea volcano, I have watched so many natural nature's programmes and never heard of such volcanic activities under water. Never mind God controls everything.
it looked nuclear? but it wasn't... an underwater volcano hunga-tonga hunga-ha'apai volcano... we've seen Volcanologists, Scientists asses these Volcanos since 2015.
@@alfredtameifuna8928 Thank you for your explanation re hunga tunga volcano under water, must say I never seen those documentaries, will be looking them up.
I stumbled upon this video yesterday not knowing about their was just an underground volcano. This video was amazing to watch second time watching. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏽❤
Amazing ..the ocean reminds me of a huge washer machine for some reason by its turbulence. Amazing video. This is the first up close tsunami i have ever seen
Amazing footage and Mother Nature in 2022 going to be very unpredictable and you need to hold on because you gonna have one hell of a rollercoaster ride🌎🌏🌍🌬
