It's fantastic these cheaper Chinese lenses are offering an alternative to the usual mega expensive native lenses. For probably 95% of photographers, something like lens is absolutely ideal. I've started collecting and using them for my Fuji and Olympus set up and I have absolutely no complaints when you take in the price per IQ ratio. Great review, keep up the good work.
Thank you for making this video! I’ve been searching for a crisp 35mm with 1.2 or lower that wasn’t the cost of a months pay. Lol. You’ve helped me greatly with this video. I look forward to buying this and the 7artisans lens and creating with them both.
Hey Kyle. Just bought an a6000 and I've been watching your videos as well as a few others who offer a lot of info on this camera model. Thank you for providing many informative videos on this new to me camera. I bought this lens and have tried it out today and while I think the lens performed well for what I was looking for, one thing did concern me. The TTArtisan lens had offered a LOT of resistance going on and even more upon trying to dismount. Both of my sony lenses that came with my kit mount on and off very easily; no effort at all, as it should work (just as my lenses on my Nikon perform). Did you have this issue with the lens they sent you? While I liked the performance of this lens, no matter how cheap the cost, it is not worth it to have to replace a ruined mount on a brand new camera. Also, are there any other of Kyle's viewers who purchased this lens who have the same problem?
It’s a bit tighter yes, which isn’t a problem. It’s most likely due to that lens (as a bunch of manual lenses) are made for multiple mounts, so the lens construction may compensate in a way for the different mounts that get attached to them. The a6000 actually has a looser mount than most cameras. They improved it (made it a little more snug) on the a6100.
Not gonna do a comparison anytime soon (just have other videos planned). Both lens makers are great. I’d honestly go with the one that’s cheaper if you wanna save money. Or, if you want a clicked aperture ring then go with TTArtisan. 👍🏻
HAHA!! Always shoot for higher level of nerdom 2:34 time stamp. Question how did you get the sky to adjust its aperture? Nice lens, going to put it on my buy list.
Great video! I just bought a a6000 and Now I'm having a hard time to choose which lens for portraits because all ur videos have so much positive things on the lenses u have reviewed. Which lens do u reccomend for portraits? Pls lmk! Ty!
If you're going to dabble in manual lenses, enable focus peaking and assign a button for focus magnifier. Robert Wilson has YT videos on how to enable these options. Helped me A LOT!
I go over this in a couple videos. Checkout my tips and tricks series for the a6000. In terms of a great portrait lens the best would be the sigma 56mm f1.4.
Which lens should I buy, as it will b my first manual lens, I am confused between ttartisan 50mm f1.2 and 35mmf1.4 , tell me which one will be better for sharp night, street and potrait photography
@@kyletaggartcan 35mm f1.4 gets some good portraits? What's your personal opinion about it? Means if I click sometime portraits with 35mm will it b good enough?for insta and social media?

Just ordered the TT artisan lens for my little Sony Nex 3N lol, let's see what happens.
Subscribed! Really high quality content! I've just bought an a6000 and your videos helped me a lot. Now I'm looking for a 35mm as my second lens and I'm trying to figure out which one of this budget lenses is the best. I'm choosing between TTArtisan and Meike (35mm 1.4). I know both are cool as I've seen it in your videos, but in your experience, which one is the best? Thank you a lot!!
I own the TT Artisans 17mm f1.4 mf lens for Fuji X, and love it for all the same reasons you are stating with regard to this 35mm model. I am thinking I will need to add the 35 to my kit and thus start a TT Artisans collection. Who knew?
Hi , I bye this TTARTISAN 35MM/1.4 lens have a big Problem in the focus mode, my camera sony a6000 send me a message: invalid because lens not attached. Attach the lens correctly. I don't have an adapter, can you help me. I need an adapter digital electronic for the power zoom W T. Thank
How did you know that I Thor on speed dial?? Lol sorry I was a bit cryptic. I was referring to the sky went dark and than lit back up. Guessing a large dark cloud. Like playing with the Aperture on your camera lens
This isn't the perfect lens for landscape no. From one's I've tried...the Pergear 25mm f1.8 would be better as it's wider. I might have to look into what lens under $100 would be the best for landscape.
Honestly I think an auto focus lens may be better. Even just the kit lens. That way you can hold up a pallet / or your hand with a swatch on it and the camera can focus on it and see that, then focus back to your face. I’d focus more on having good lighting (even sunlight) and audio.
@@kyletaggart Yes, true. I’m looking to get an auto focus lens, but it’s just not in the budget right now. Need to up the quality from the kit lens...still tinkering around with the settings but it feels like a lens with a better aperture is the key (& proper lighting). Saving up but may try manual for now. Thank you for the response! 🙏🏾
Hi, they don't make Leica lenses. They make M mount lenses, compatible for Leica cameras. Leica makes Leica lenses. Vastly different. Perhaps you may want to add the correction. Thanks.
@@rotorfpv4117 the manual focus ring is thin so it takes some getting used to especially for video unless it’s a stationary object. But I would say, yes. It is good for video (especially if you have a proper hood and ND filter) this lens flares for anything. So keep that flare in check and your good.
Ok you are reviewing a portrait lens and you didn’t take any portraits. You also didn’t photograph any backlit foliage to test for CA. Still it looks like a gift at that price.
Great review as always. I'm still using my Pergear 25mm 1.8. It's a fun lens to use. I wish I had more time to shoot these days. So much work has worn me down the past couple of months. Your videos inspire me to get out there and keep shooting. Thanks Kyle!
I took some much needed time off in December. A couple days here and there. Gonna use the time for more videos! Some auto focus lenses coming up on the channel 😄
@@kyletaggart yes! we all need at least a week or two to enjoy life outside of work. I do a LOT of design work for a rural hospital in Texas. I wake up every morning and post a graphic of COVID numbers for the surrounding communities. It's not a good way to wake up everyday but they pay my bills.
@@kyletaggart I hope so too! Texas is supposed to get about 1.4 million doses of vaccine. Dallas, where I live is at capacity already with hospitalizations. Rural hospitals need help the most though.
If you could pick one out of the two mentioned lenses, 1.2 or 1.4, that would be used for animal and car photography, which would you say would be the better investment?
Great review, would this lense be good for sun rise and sunset pictures, and car photography?, the only lenses i have currently are sony 18-105, and sigma 16mm
It would be a nice addition to that lineup. Me personally I’d rather use the sigma 16 for sunrise / sunset pics of the landscape, but this can certainly be fun during just those times of day, for sure. Also it would be very useful for car shots.
