💀 I nearly did blur it out. I usually do! But I think, if they’re happy to publicly say it, I guess it’s free game! 😅 but you know, i don’t mind people being curious about my jaw or asking from a place of curiosity why I am talking like this. But there’s just been so many comments coming from a mean place rather than curiosity. It’s just the way people say things. You know?!
My blue BB58 is the ultimate Black Bay for me (since I already own it!) & I’d get a T-Fit clasp for it if they become available. I’d love to see new colors for the BB54 & maybe even a (gasp) date version…
Everybody talks about faux rivets which sounds bad because of the word "faux" but to me they're just some wee dots that make the bracelet look a bit more interesting. Wouldn't say i love them but they definitely don't make the bracelet worse for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@sysakPL agreed. I’m surprised Tudor hasn’t released a statement assigning a purpose to them, like bumper guards to protect the polished sides of the links. They do some protecting of the links in that they’ll block a scratch before it hits the link. They’re an early point of contact sparing the link.
Got a long day ahead of studying for final exams but sitting down and watching this with my 54 on wrist and some coffee really boosted my mood this morning! Thanks Britt!
I owned the original BBB41 ETA version for 8 years. Recently sold, and bought a 58. The fit on the 58 was much more comfortable and looked in proportion to my wrist size (about 7 inches). What made me keep the original black bay 41 for so long was mainly its "exclusivity" being a short production run for that model. In the end it wasn't justified enough to keep for mainly that reason. Wearability really matters a lot. I was able to try on the 54 yesterday and wow. Lighter than the 58 and wears like a dream. I was initially caught off guard with seeing the sheen dial. It definitely has a shimmer to it, which I'm not used to seeing on a BB dial. It gives the watch an elegant look to it in a way that isn't present in the other versions that came before.
Thanks for sharing, damn, I’m going to have to visit an AD and try the 54. I’m 100 percent on getting the 58. (Kind of holding out to see if the new clasp moved over to it soon). But hearing about the dial has me thinking the 54 would be a used pick up a few years down the line. (I like my watches with a bit of wear lol). Also, man that burgundy is just sooooo tasty with its pop of color.
You know! This is all perfectly said! Thank you so much for tjis comment! You’re so right about the BB58 size, proportions and general wearability. I think it’s those Goldilocks specifications so many people are looking for! The BB54 wears surprisingly well for how the specs sound!
Thank you for the comprehensive comparison of these differing BBS. And, continue to plow forward in your recovery with humor, grace, and bravery. Wishing the best for you from Indiana, U.S.A.!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the bracelet detail ('faux rivets') is a plus for me. It's unique, and it's an aesthetic feature that works for me within the overall design. If/when I buy a BB58, I want them there.
Hi Britney, I have the BB58 and perfect strap fitment was a real pain for me due to NO half links. Big thanks to Uncle Seiko who saved the day with a matching half link, now providing a perfect fit. Hope that any new clasp/bracelet Tudor produces can be retro fitted to the current BB58. Please do not let those insensitive morons get to you with their purile comments. You are loved and respected for what you do and how you've come through this.
Now THIS IS GREAT TO KNOW!!! Seiko half link fits! 😱😱😱 epic problem solving by you! 😂👏🏻 And bless! You know! I might have been feeling too sensitive about that one! 😂💕 I don’t know! If I mention my jaw too much I get comments saying “I come here for watches can you please stop talking about your jaw every video” 😅 and if I don’t say it, new people don’t know!!! 😂🤦🏻♀️
@@BrittPearceWatches it’s not a Seiko half link, “Uncle Seiko” is a aftermarket company that specializes in better quality Seiko bracelets as well as Omega aftermarket bracelets and they’ve dabbled into the Tudor half links. They tend to have stock off and on though (I’d imagine they are quite popular). Hopefully that didn’t come out poorly (or that I didn’t assume wrongly that you didn’t know of Uncle Seiko) I just didn’t want you to possibly speak to Seiko links fitting, only to find that it’s not actually Seiko links but a specialty made aftermarket item.
I love Tudor and their watches. Their quality has kept getting better every year. I’m glad they offer different sized black bays. You can wear them for different occasions.
Solid and most comprehensive look at three Black Bay model lines - seriously, concise and lots of good data points aligned with visual comparisons. Noticed a brighter look/background to some of the zoomed in watch shots, which I thought was sharp, and really thought the use of zooming vice hard zoom shifts added a unique feel to this video.
I had a tough time deliberating between the OG and Blue BB58. I ended up getting the BB58 in Navy Blue, and when the BB54 launched, it gave me another reason to get it as well. 🤣Both excellent watches with their own merits. 😃
So happy I bought my BB58 on the leather. Then added the Forstner 3 link bracelet (no rivets!)😃 and their flexlink which allows 5mm of spring loaded flex. Perfect watch!
@@BrittPearceWatches Hope I didn't hurt your jaw making you smile. I'll watch just about anything you make. Just not this. :-) I am so gd sick of seeing this watch.
Perfect timing on this video, I am considering a Tudor black bay amongst others. Just need to try them on and make a decision. In my mind I see the 58 being the best choice even though I have 7.5 inch wrists, but we shall see if it pans out that way.
I don’t think there’s any wrong answer on the BB Divers, they all pull vintage aesthetics from old Rolex and Tudor watches of the past. Each has their own markers that make them unique. The black bezel BB58 being the only with a red triangle @12, except the 41mm black bezel, and the gold numbers on the bezel. The 54 having the slightly different bezel grips. Etc. If you want a dive watch that doesn’t pull from the past go for Omega SMP 300m Diver, I have and love both equally even if Brit spaced the BB58 out of my 7 1/3 inch wrist size 😂 great video Brit!
The watch world is usually for men, but honestly you’re my favorite watch geek here. Your reviews are very informative, detail-oriented, and less talking about yourself. Just so you know, Britt! Anyways, I tried on the Black Bay 39 mm with diamond dial last night in my local newly opened Tudor boutique and Jesus Christ I want that watch so bad! Do you or anyone here know if Tudor already raised their prices this year?
This is the first of your videos I catch..you just popped up on my feed. I agree with everything you said. I’ve been a watch wh$re for years. Then came the BB58 and made an honest woman out of me lol. So much so that I packed all my watches (about 20 of them ) and shipped them off to my friend Random Rob and he sold them off. I kept about 8 for sentimental reasons, but the BB58 is my daily driver. Not counting Gshocks cause as we all know, Gshocks don’t count as watches as they’re more like toys lol. Now this BB54 has caught my attention. Definitely a Tudor fan girl here so I wouldn’t have an issue with having multiples in my collection. Hopefully, folks do regret purchasing it due to the size and I can pick up for a nice discount in the “pre-owned” market ha!. Great video and great content. New sub.
My ideal blackbay personally (as a 6.5” wrist) would be OG BB watch face (RIP the rose), with the bezel of the 58, and the bracelet/case size of the 54.
YOU KNOW! I agree!!! Watch this space! 😜😜💕💕next time there’s no new patrons (inevitably very soon!) we will do an EARLY BIRD THANK YOU! 💕✨✨✨ hopefully see you at the next Redbar Bristol!!!!
I thought the BB58 was 39mm so discounted it....I have a 7 3/4 inch wrist so when the new watches came out in March and they show cased the 41 in Burgundy and Jubilee??? wow wow wow that is the one for me.....can't wait for this to be come available...loving your content
saw the burgandy on a burgandy nato and it looked great. As a Tudor fan boy I cant choose because i like them all. The good news is Tudor has something for everyone, try then buy.
I cannot agree more about trying watches on in person. I had this idea in my head about how a whole list of watches would fit based on all their specs. I went in and tried them on and my list was blown out of the water. Watches I expected to like I didn't and ones I did not expect to like so much blew me away. Of the ones in the video, I'd go with the original Black Bay diver in 41mm. I do really like how much they've slimmed down the new 41mm version, so that might work. I really didn't like 2nd gen. Even the Black Bay GMT wore better than that thanks to some beveling on the case sides of the GMT.
The BB58 can be found used for really cheap since the new releases this year. Between $2,500-$3,000 depending on strap or bracelet. I’d go for the strap version and try to source a Tudor Ranger bracelet to get T-Fit all for less than a BB54.
Great content here, very well done. Thank you for all the help. I think that my next watch is going to be the black bay 58 maroon five link bracelet I absolutely love the look of the five link bracelet along with T clasp .. I love tutor I’m a big fan, and I truly hope that I am able to attain this Watch soon.
Great video I love tudors I have the burgandy but 2022 I would love the new one on a not so jubilee bracelet 😂 I also have the s&g chrono lovely watch also but a bit blingy for everyday use. Keep up the good work.
To everyone who keeps going on about the “faux rivets”: you will have noticed that Tudor kept them on the 54 and rightly so. These watches are heavily vintage inspired and therefore feature design elements that are creating that look. One of them are the rivets. The BB58 is inspired by a historic Submariner, which did have a riveted bracelet, so with all the other vintage inspired features on this watch a modern Oyster bracelet does not make any sense. Same goes for the BB54. If you want a modernised version, then the Pelagos is a good option.
I actually don’t mind the faux rivets. I’d prefer though that they’d just make them functional and maybe price them accordingly. Simple fix, and offer a Jubilee as well. Also, while we’re at it, integrate the burgundy bezel into the 58 and 54 line up. (Maybe with a gilded triangle and pip at the 12 o’clock position for the 58).
How did you manage to get such a large discount ?? When I bought my 58 a few years ago I tried all the main dealers and none would entertain any discount.
@@dlite1972 Hi Craig, it was a strange/accident… Tudor had a tour in the shopping centers (branded stand) to promote the brand… and selling the watches… and they have all models and the shop assistent was able to offer up to 10% for the models… and I do not know why but “burgundy” model he had only two pieces and offered me and my friend with such big discount.. but only this model… and the funny was that happend three days before watch&wonders 2023 where Tudor has been presented new models and one was “burgundy” of course with all those improvements…
Too many people watch too many watch videos (no offense) and think they “can’t” wear a certain sized watch because the internet said so. Thank you for your ethos of “try it on and wear what you like “.
Yeah! Or say I couldn’t wear this or that as it XXmm. I’ve tried 38mm dress watches on that feel like dinner plates and 40mm “sport” watches that wear way way smaller.
Right?! It’s a tricky one of like… I want to give general recommends (in case anyone is watching this looking for recommendations) but also… SOD THE RULES! It’s your money! Wear a watch the way you want to wear it!
Agreed, that into was on point. It was great to see the various models against different color backdrops. Somehow it really gives each watch a chance to shine differently a bit. Gringa’s skills seem to have improved (not a slight against how they were previously) since she’s been down post accident. She’s made lemonade from the lemons that life threw at her.
Yes, will probably order one BB54. Tudor is offering a lot at this price range- COSC movement, refined case and of course the unique hour hand. I actually can't think of any brand at this price bracket that offers the same quality- at least taking in note the current prices in Europe. Probably something from Longines is comparable- the Spirit pops up in my mind but it is not a dive watch. And for those that do care about that stuff- the BB54 will probably hold its value very well. Keep up the good work pumping out those videos 🙂
Solid comparison! I think the BB GMT Diet Pepsi is the one for me but if picking one that didn’t have the GMT movement, think I’d go 58 gilt. I have a wrist that seems to move between 6.75 and 7 inches.
@@TheBigWrist I’ll never understand the idea of waiting a few days to offer an older model to someone on the list. They likely already had that model, why not offer it before placing you on a list lol. Anyways can’t wait to hear how it goes!
@@jamesb3557 I was in the shop a few days prior to the call and they did not have a older red bezel on display. I was there for a small watch meetup and the shop knew I was serious buyer waiting for the newer version. They one who called me was just a junior sales guy, not the manager who I am friends with. I don't think there was any shenanigan's going on, just an an attempt to sell me a watch that is very close to what I want.
RIGHT?! You will literally never notice them while wearing! Even right now I’m wearing my BB54, and I don’t really notice the rivets. 🤷🏻♀️ silly watch people… like ME! 😜 nitpicking too much!
You're always a breath of fresh air in this space and so many of our lives. Never forget you're amazing and beautiful ❤. Anybody got any tips about how not to fall in 😍 with a RU-vidr? 🤔 Ideas welcome 😉X
I will miss mush mouth once jaw restraints are removed. As a BB58 black owner, I think it’s so perfect in size, design, and the added touches (gilt bezel, red triangle( Rolex Big Crown) snow flake second, coin edge bezel matches crown) all these little touches make it a very special watch.
Ah, the grey one! Yeah, big fans of Adrian’s straps here at Gringa HQ. The burgundy one on the watch is from Bulang & Sons, also highly recommended, a bit thicker than B&J straps but really nice feel.
Nice analysis and comparison. I’ve never owned a Tudor and have been trying to find my entry point into the brand… I’ve always been a Rolex wearer. I have a 7” wrist and have tried both the BB58 and BB54 and find both too small based on my personal preferences. While I like the 41mm version the case is way too tall for the diameter. To me the sweet spot is the original 79220, particularly the black dial… yes, I know, it’s an eta movement, though the proportions between diameter and thickness, the rose logo, no faux rivets, and the scarcity of this reference is the reason why this is the one to add to my collection. And by the way your disco background and dance for five seconds was a great “interruption” to the video lol
I’m pretty new to watch collecting and I’m struggling with finding a go anywhere do anything entry level luxury watch in the Longines, Tudor, Omega type category. I guess in my mind a blue dial can’t be go anywhere do anything because I might be wearing colors that don’t match blue and conversely if I’m wearing blue I don’t think something like a Black Bay in Black and Gold works. Im thinking something with a silver sunray type dial is the perfect neutral color but I see so few manufacturers make such dials. Am I missing something when it comes to dial color and bracelet when it comes to a go anywhere do anything? Side note I have a Hamilton Champagne dial so I don’t want to get another piece that would feel redundant.
BB41 looks perfectly fine on your wrist! You could probably wear a Deep Sea and it will still look great. See, women can wear it big or small. The problem with a small men’s wrist like mine is that watches like BB54 or DJ36 make them look like a women’s. Ironically they accentuate my small wrist. So I must avoid anything below 39-40mm.
I dont think the 41 mm non smiley face is that thick. It looks thick , because it is slab sided, but in reality compared to other watches i own , its actually sits lower on the wrist than the dimensions suggest. I have a 7.5 inch wrist and the 41mm is good for me. It can be heavy for an everyday wearer as mine is the s and g version. I have tried on the 54 , and i was surprised how well it wears , it seems bigger than a 37 mm . Because the lug to lug is big , it doesnt seem much different to the 58. The small crown is the major difference though, and although it looks in proportion, it is harder to manipulate. I still think if they had made the bb at 40mm and 11mm thick , with a t fit bracelet, then it could have been perfect for any wrist size. Maybe do a 36mm version for the ladies and small fellas ? But it is what it is .
The black bay 41 is my grail watch, I love the smiley face and the tudor rose and the tube that is in a matching burgundy. It's aesthetics are off the charts and it also has the smallest height of the other burgundy models despite having an eta movement. Downside is that it isn't a chronometer but that's fine for me, Tudor definitely has extensively improved the eta movement inside it and swapped components out. Another downside is that it doesn't have the tfit clasp, or a date window but I wouldn't mind that too much.
@@galaga8834 yeah exactly, just because it's not a certified chronometer doesn't mean it doesn't take bloody good track of time. They have the history of making those eta movements the best in their class for a reason.
