Hi Bruce and hi Giovanni. Beautiful story and very relatable. You always manage to explain the philosophical aspect of the watch collecting!

The North Flag is just an odd and fun watch. It looks like nothing else and feels like nothing else. It was a booger to get it to fit right. I had to track down an extra link... but now it's set and I love the way it feels. I think one of the great DNA features it gets from its Rolex cousin..... the highly tapered bracelet. Something about that taper really makes it fit well when properly adjusted. I will sometimes come home and change into the Tudor North Flag just to get a little lift. It has a permanent place in my collection.

Its Funny i tend to do the same HAHAHA changing back at home. I have 250 circa watches on my collection, and we try as we can to give wrist time to all, unluckily we only have to wrists :)

Fantastic video and collaboration Bruce and Giovanni. I totally relate to this story. The North Flag was my first "expensive" piece. I remember seeing it by chance, online. I was immediately drawn to its design aesthetic. I love how it is on the periphery, its not the explorer, yet to me it oozes the adventure vibe. Mine has taken plenty of wear, and it has total staying power. Thanks

Excellent collaboration, enjoyed it. Thanks Giovanni and Bruce 👍🏻 Love the NF, easily Tudor's most appealing watch amongst a sea of homages IMHO. Wanted one for so long, but the integrated bracelet is a stumbling block for me so I will get a Seamaster instead...but maybe one day 😉 Thanks Gentlemen 👍🏻👍🏻

North Flag was my first Swiss watch. I love it because it's such a bold departure from the rest of the Tudor/Rolex lines that tend to be conservative, classic designs. It's a milestone watch because of the inclusion of the in-house movement and I think it represents Tudor's arrival as a brand that's more than just "rolex light".

Bruce, what you describe @ around 7:30 in is what I call the learning mindset. When I am in that state, I follow the things I am genuinely interested in and have a connection to. It is not one where money and status are factors. Rather, it is a mental/emotional mindset that seeks knowledge, insight and interaction with what I love. It is open-minded in nature. Thanks to you two for your two videos in one. Thought-provoking stuff. --Michael

Great video. Like it. My first watch since I got back into it was a Seiko snk809. I then bought a SINN 556 ib, then an Omega aqua 41, then a Rolex OP 39 then a Tudor BB58, then a Seiko turtle with a strapcode jubilee. Have all except the BB58, sold it. The watch I wear 87% of the time is my turtle. Strange.

Great episode Bruce! I really like the new format. Very refreshing! I can absolutely relate. I'm at the stage of watch collecting were I went down the road of classic watch collecting goals and reached pretty much the end. I had my grail (Audemars Piguet) and was pretty much done as even higher end watches are definitely out of my budget. So now I'm going to consolidate more and the most important part: Just keeping the watches I personally love and wear. I don't look at things anymore like "do I have a manual wind Chronograph? Do I have at least one classic Rolex? Do I have...". I don't check any boxes any more. Of course I try to keep my collection diversified but mostly it just comes down to personal preference. And that's a really fun part of watch collecting! And I think it's the most reasonable part of the watch collecting journey.

Thank you for always pointing out that expensive watches are luxury and unnecessary. I think that is a very fair statement and help put things in perspective for those who might be considering buying a luxury watch but might not realize that they are not in a position to buy... yet. Me included.

Couldn't agree more with the part of a watch that means something to you and buying something without regards to resale value etc. I bought my first Breitling Colt when I was just getting in to watches and will cherish it forever since I bought it with my heart, only caring about the looks and the feel on the wrist.

👍’s Bruce - an interesting review. I’ve always been drawn to this model - great aesthetics, legibility and pop of yellow. As it’s now discontinued I rang/emailed Tudor AD’s all over the UK hoping to find one still in stock. Eventually I found a new one on the bracelet - an unexpected bonus was a 15% discount when the AD owner noticed a tiny mark on the bezel 👍🙂

I do think I fell into the trap of buying my first luxury watch based on resale value / peer acceptance. Purchased a BB ETA on the secondary market for a great price, but my eye has always been on the North Flag. Recently bought the Hamilton Khaki Pilot (Interstellar) and that gets much more wrist time than the Tudor BB. Word on the streets is that the NF is discontinued in NA, gonna be harder and harder to find too..

The North Flag is my Tudor grail along with the BB58, and in Mexico ADAs sell them at about the same price… which, at the moment, exceeds my budget. I hope to have the (luxury toy) money before Tudor decides the NF doesn’t sell and axes it. You never know…

I like the NF but like many a GS, it is ruined by the power reserve complication (at least on the NF it goes down versus up as the power wanes unlike the illogical GS’ power reserve).
@WatchInTime
@WatchInTime 4 года назад
Power reserve is an interesting topic, most dont like the complication, but its quite useful. Did you knew that for a watch to operate correctly at its best beat with a regular rate it needs the mainspring to be charged for around 30%. With a power indicator you actually know if the watch energy is over the 30% mark. Automatic watches wind with movement, but with no manual winding, around 10 hours normal wear are actually needed to fully wind and charge 100% the main spring. Its interesting and useful but sometines aesthetically invasive
@markmaier2503
@markmaier2503 4 года назад
Unlike GS, I think the NF is well-balanced due to the opposing date window.

@@markmaier2503 true, i own the Snowflake, i think its a very unique piece that brings calm to your soul when watched, i am not particularly disturbed by it, actually i kind of think of it as a Car tyre that drifted on the snow... dont ask me why.
