We got to roll them all out for the airshow, even lowered the wings of the F-4, and boy does she look good! Caught some more Thunderbirds practice, and rode both the A-4 and F-4 as brake man!

My Dad was a Crew Chief on F-100's and F-4's! I was an assistant Crew Chief on RF-4's! So cool that you do this!

That is the goal! She last flew in 2019 and we're working to get her back to flight status again!

That's pretty common with ex-military aircraft and warbirds, and nearly all of them never had a type certificate like most commercial and general aviation aircraft would have

Been down those intake lots of times in my youth when I was a crew chief in D models now I’m 66 year old and I sort of miss it..😅

That is awesome! I didn't get to meet the crew, but I did film something behind the tanker that a lot of DCS pilots can relate too!

The old girl is looking good ! I gotta say though, there's nothing wrong with her having her dainty little wing tips folded up when she's showing off. In a way I think I'd prefer it since it shows a capability that would otherwise be overlooked. Anyway, as always, thanks for sharing.

Indeed she is! We had them up last year, mainly due to having the hydraulic system open for servicing. And my pleasure, glad you are enjoying the videos!

I don't, I live in Virginia Beach, VA but can definitely take some PTO to get there. There is a good chance I can catch a hope on a MAC Flight and get there.

It was great meeting you in person (I was the one in the Hawaiian shirt and helmet with my grandfather). Hope y’all find the ejection seat parts and pass the inspection I’d love to see that in the air again. I noticed the 262 didn’t fly today, were there last minute issues?

Likewise! And I'll let you know about helping out in the hanger. Our pilot for the 262 had several aircraft to fly, so he opted to fly the Mig 15 today, and will fly the 262 tomorrow. He's flying the Skyraider both days.

It was pretty busy but it was still cool seeing the 15 fly, haven’t seen it in a while and got some cool pictures. That will largely be dependent on when we can source a new set of rockets for the ejection seats. Hopefully soon though.

Good to see the F-4 outside in the sunshine where it belongs. Looking good! Still a little strange to see it without the 370s. They were always on the jets except for heavy inspections or full FCFs. Have you guys thought about getting some dummy AIM-7s or AIM-9s? They would just complete the look!

She sure looks good out there! We do have a pair of drop tanks that we can mount, which do work! We also have the big 600 gallon belly tank. The idea of dummy missiles and bombs has been kicked around in the past, big challenge as I understand it is that they can be flown safely, otherwise we'd be limited to only mounting/showing them here at home field.

We had dummy AIM 9s (painted blue), no propellant or warhead, with a live seeker head so the crews could practice maneuvers and lock-on simulation. They were safe for flight and we used them often. Maybe someone has a couple of the older models laying around that could be donated. @@DieselThunderAviation

Hey, what's the plane that is parked by your stuff? High wing looks like a O2 Cessna but has a radial and twin rudders.

Max Holste Broussard 1521. French version of the Dehaviland Beaver. Uses a PW985.

Are the wings on that jet powered? You were unfolding it manually, but then later the one seemed to come down itself when the engine was on.

Bob has the answer there! Crew Chief Al also mentioned the wing tips doing that is somewhat normal when one has sat around for a while.

I just saw the Thunderbirds a few weeks back at the California Capital Airshow at KMHR. I've seen them now 30 times. We had at one time 4 AFBs within a 60-mile radius until BRAC. Airshows at everyone, every year. Clinton administration ruined our fun. 2 are civilian airports now, but KMHR (formerly Mather AFB/SAC) hosts an airshow every year. Looking forward to seeing the blues again next year. The Ol' girl looks fearsome just standing still. Thunderbirds put on a great show for us this year as well. I remember that first round of BRAC, we were a bit worried about it at Little Rock AFB. And she definitely looks great sitting out and being admired!

@@DieselThunderAviation Ya BRAC was brutal for our city. We lost McClellan (AFLC), Mather (SAC) and the Army Logistics Depot. 30,000 jobs lost of transferred out of the area. Only military assets we have in town is the CANG 135th aviation squadron at KMHR and a USCG aviation unit at KMCC. Travis and Beale are "nearby-ish".

Not normally. She’s due for a washing, so that’s an item on the list for when we bring her to the wash pad.

She is still airworthy, just not currently flightworthy. Biggest hurdle we have right now is sourcing ejection seat parts, namely the time limited rockets and pyros.
