I visit my hometown, Tulsa, Oklahoma. There, I explore downtown, including the BOK Building, a half sized replica of the World Trade Center buildings. I also take a look at the house where the movie "The Outsiders" was filmed and drive by the CityPlex Complex, built because of a vision preacher Oral Robert's had. Includes drone footage of the skyline.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Tulsa

Thank you for sharing the history of the BOK Tower! Based on the downtown architecture it's clear lots of $$$ flowed through Tulsa back in the day. "The Outsiders" and Oral Roberts history was very interesting as well.

T-Town represent! If you ever visit Tulsa, stop by Webers - a hamburger place thats been there since the 30's (get a root beer freeze - they make their own root beer). There is also a decent sized mexican population so there are some really good food spots. I recommend Tortas Y Jugos Caribe and Pancho Anaya's Panaderia in east Tulsa. As a touristy thing to do - definitely check out the Philbrook Museum of Art.

Thank you for the tour of Tulsa. I went to Nathan Hale High School there. We just had our 50-year reunion (at year 52 due to Covid). It was a blast. I live in Texas now; but I still have a deep affection for Tulsa. The Tulsa Historical Society conducts tours of downtown on Fridays. The Beryl Ford photo collection is quite impressive. BTW, your video camera did an excellent job. Also, the Gathering Place is a new park that just opened at 27th & Riverside Drive. We got a tour of it during the reunion. Check it out next time you go. You and your spouse must get along very well! Forty thousand miles in a Bronco! Hell's Bells!!!

Thank you for your sightseeing tour of Tulsa. I went to Memorial H.S. there and graduated in 1967, thence going on to college at Northeastern State College (now NEOSU) in Tahlequah. I too have my memories of Tulsa. In 1968 I bought a high-end Nikon 35mm camera and took it with me to the Tulsa State Fair Parade in downtown Tulsa to shoot my first roll of film. One of the highlights of the parade was when Jane Ann Jayroe(Miss America 1967) rode right past me in a convertible and waved and smiled as I clicked the shutter. I still cherish those Kodachrome slides to this day!! Being a long-time train buff, I fondly remember the Santa Fe "Tulsan," which ran from Tulsa to Kansas City. It made its last run in 1971. I was born in Muskogee, only about 50 miles from Tulsa. I now live in St. Louis, MO. However, the memories of my growing up in Oklahoma will never die!!!

Because of Danny Boy making The Outsiders House open to the public, it's how I first fell in love with Tulsa. I was there for the first time 4 years ago when homes were pretty affordable. I regret not buying one there at the time because those were my plans, then the pandemic hit. I've been there 3 times, so plan on moving out there permanently. I love it there! I didn't see too many homeless and was warned to avoid certain areas but honestly, those areas were good too some parts of California. Awesome video! Stay Gold!

@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip just want you to know in this tough times ( here in Canada well Ontario we’re being limited to how many can get together for Christmas, it really sucks) your videos are a little escape for me away from all the bs covid nonsense. Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your videos, we haven’t been able to travel for almost two years now. Our liberal ( lefties) government is trying to rule like a dictatorship up here. I’m sure it’s all about money right now. The ones I power are raking it in hand over fist and don’t want to see an end to it, at the expense of the people. Safe travels to your next destination.

@@keyup2626 Yeah, I've read that things have gotten pretty restrictive in Canada. Funny thing is, Canadians in general are really healthy, much more so than here in the US. You've got those huge mountains and cleaner air up there. You're right, of course, about the people in power. Same here. Without a doubt, drug companies like Pfizer are making money hand over fist and are lining politician's pockets to keep all this going. We've been in mostly Republican states so far, so the restrictions have been few. We're in Oklahoma City right now. Very few are wearing masks, including in restaurants, and people are going about their business as normal. However, we'll be hitting democrat run states in the next few months and so I'm sure things will be different there.

4:59 I used to work in that building back in the 70's. Downtown slowed for awhile with all the oil companies leaving, but it has made a huge resurgence. Lots of activity. Unfortunately there are homeless all over now, but their camps are away from downtown.

Tulsa must be expecting growth. Several downtown buildings have been converted into apartments that are listed for almost on million dollars. Also, this week ground was broken for a new complex at 7th and Lewis.

I have been following you for about 3 days now. I had not before watching the tour of Louisiana. Now I can't believe how many cities I have visited, and how many I want to really visit in the flesh. Then I heard you say you were from Tulsa. Well I was waiting for the tour and wanted to hear your take on the tragedy that happy in another lifetime. I know that's a part you don't want to visit, or really mention, but I would have liked to hear how much you hated to hear about that history anyway. I like what you're doing and still catching up. My hometown is in Benton Harbor, Michigan. You might want to check out that history. Quite interesting, and the HQ's for the Whirlpool Corp. I would like to see and hear of any black contributions to all that you find. Just a thought. We are left out of most history in this country. I've learned more about the contribution from Blacks in this country, more after school than while I was in school. I graduated in 1966. Thanks for what you bring to us, it's history that I would not have learned if I had not tuned in . Bless you and wife.

The outsiders house! That is so cool. I remember watching that movie hundreds of times just to see Matt Dillon. 😊 I’m intrigued that there are no homeless there. We just did an out west trip and seems like every major city out there had a large homeless population. We didn’t go to Tulsa though. Had a time constraint. Did Nic get out of the car here? How did you choose your hotels?

@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip A little bit more detail on Leon's old studio...it's up and running now as a full service digital AND ANALOG recording studio. And this April there will be a Leon Russell Birthday Bash "shindig" with tons of his fans and a big street scene get together. I think it's the week of April 15th. Owner Teresa Knox has even expanded the place with a new building and new facilities added. The Church Studio is the cornerstone of a newly revived "Tulsa Sound" music scene and it is tying together with the OKPOP and Bob Dylan Center. You really need to check out the whole music industry that is growing up around S Trenton Avenue. They even renamed the block with the studio to Leon Russell Road.

Go up Denver ave from about 15th to all the way past the jail, you'll get the whole homeless experience. Or just cross the bridge into the wild west of Tulsa. Its not that bad though. I hope you do another tour of Tulsa in a few years, a lot of new buildings and developments. Riverside and the Gathering Place are worth touring. Also probably mention Route 66, and highlight the differences between North, South, East, and West Tulsa. Its like different worlds. Don't even bother going to OKC. I didn't know WIll Rogers died in a plane crash, why would they name an airport after him? Because its OKC.
