Tumby Bay Exploring | Isuzu Dmax ongoing Issues

We get a couple of days in Tumby Bay to do some jobs done and get the boat out. The wind was cranking the whole time and we were limited by where we could go but tried the bay for a fish and squid but there was nothing about anywhere, one of the quietest days out for ages.
The next day I try a spot just out of town and looked like a lovely area but was still a bit of a challenge to even get a feed of Hezza's. I had tried for whiting off camera for about 2 hours but after moving to 3 or 4 spots I went back to trolling for Herring.
We had an oil light come on in the Dmax, a couple of ongoing issues we've been dealing with and seems to be a common thing with these newer 4jj3 motors. We'll get another interval service done and see how it goes from there.

Here i am telling you about my problems im having with my ute. They dont make them like they used to. Just more powerful. Lovely work guys. Looking forward to the next. 🍻👌

Ripper stuff, Jed and Kel, I've been packing all day, chilling out watching your video! Give the snook some respect Jed, best fish oils eva Mr Potty mouth! LOL! Got a couple of videos up and will have some radio silence for a few weeks as we are hitting Steep for a two weeks. This was random, Ostick 2 and I were only talking about the Dmax today, and thinking it was a pretty solid vehicle alternative to the Toyotas we drive. There is not many alternatives for what we are doing, so this was sad to here :( as we often go way off grid like we are next couple of weeks. .Cheers for sharing the video, I hope you both are doing well. Yeah nice one Dave! Have a epic trip up there mate 👍🐟🤺! Nup you can keep the snook, I'm not really a fan. Tried them a few times but I'd rather a good ole Hezza over them any day. Yeah Dmax is really just been DPF related issues, and we tow alot and do pretty much nil city driving so there is no reason to have these issues. Isuzu said it was system update issues at one stage. They are still a mighty 4bee but yeah you just loose a lil confidence. Have a good trip!! Make some vids!

Home town. You were so close to a whiting ground where you first anchored , bummer you missed out. Caught my first whiting from that jetty and fyi its just reopened to 0public

Gday Team Jelly, pity about the fishing. I’m not a mechanic, and we don’t have a Dmax, but we do have a HPD catch can with a dip stick, it fills up quicker if towing (engine working harder, shortening oil life ) with waste that otherwise would of been put back through engine ( for BS European emissions laws) 🍻👍🏼

Hey Craig, yeah mate I have the exact same catch-can 👍. Had it on since new, clean it every 2-3k km or so. DPF is the main issue, they've had heaps of dramas with them in the newer 4jj3 motors. Isuzu is being a bit of a pain about it all. I'll look into options/tuning etc over the next 12months...dunno.

My MY14 Dmax did a head at 115K 😢 Was a well looked after vehicle

Geez that's early mate! I haven't heard of many 4jj motors doing heads! Hectic. Still got it?

Nope, I cut my losses at that point and moved on, the head gasket issue has happened to a few, unfortunately it means a new head and while your there doing a few other things which in my case for a 10yo vehicle it just wasn’t worth investing

I had a similar issue with the MN Triton we had before the Dmax, had the top end all rebuilt but couldn't trust it after that...plus it was gutless as fuc ha

Yeah was just listening about that on the tinsman this week. With the amount of travel you have done since I think it was a worthy investment. I just got a dud in my case but I don’t think it ever liked towing a 2.6T van and a boot full of stuff
