Celery is my family golden retriever, Scout’s, favorite snack. You can’t cut some without giving him a bit to cronch.

Yes I love celery, I just have to remember to get it out of the other crisper draw ‘cause it bugs me when it blocks the other stuff so it ends up with carrots etc. btw, I too frequently use Cento tuna in oil. It’s pretty good straight from the can.

I'm an expert on tuna salad and oil is the only way to go, trust me. Loads of celery, check. Butttered rye toast, oh yes. Pile of lettuce leaves and plenty of dill -- YES. Red onion -- always. Capers and sliced avocado if ya got em. Great minds, you know?

I've been making this since I was a kid. My mom never cooked lunch for us. I think, now, in retrospect she was suffering from depression. So during the summer, left to our own devices, my brother and I would collect enough money to purchase the ingredients. We also threw in couple boiled eggs. And we made a BIG SALAD. And then we would eat it al fresco on the deck...

If I can say one positive thing from covid was to watch youtube shows about new ways to eat foods we thought we knew. This lady is a crack up and dissolves the need to food shame.. with the rising costs of take out or dine in..she continues to shed light on the myriad ways to provide flavor and TEXTURE to your meals.

Iceberg lettuce is so unfairly maligned, it certainly has its place in my kitchen -- as well as celery and celery leaves. And man I love me some rye bread, just started baking my own. Rye toast with peanut butter and orange marmalade is a favorite afternoon snack.

Alison, if you are missing Eisenberg's, Junior's has a very decent tuna sandwich and matzoh ball soup lunch combo. Even the tourist trap Times Square location uses the same recipes. Plus, cheesecake for desert! For people who like the flavor of celery but not the crunchy bits and the strings, may I recommend Chinese celery. It is all leaves on thin, tender stalks. Absolutely life-changing.

I’m allergic to fish so you’d think I’d have no business watching this video, yet something within me knew I needed to. Finally someone has talked about salt and pepper toast! Everyone in my family thinks I’m crazy for doing it but I knew they were wrong. I AM VINDICATED.

Hello adopted daughter Alison, OMG, that was the best tuna salad ever. If there was an award for tuna salad, yours wins hands down. Made it for lunch, did not have dill but used dried dill weed, not a great sub, but used it anyways. Also used romaine, did not buy iceberg this week. Thank you and thank you for the eggplant parm as well. your adopted dad is leading the good life thanks to your wonderful recipes. Love from Ottawa, Canada.

I loved this recipe! I make tuna salad all the time, but so may great tips! Pickling the onion in some lemon juice, adding capers and dill?! upped my tuna salad game immensely! And Alison don't let anyone tell you otherwise (not that you would!) - celery= yes, can of tuna = serves one, cats = family. Thank you!!

This is weirdly close to my tuna salad recipe (including the capers and lemon zest!). The main difference is I'll usually do half lemon juice, half white wine vinegar, and if I have fresh fennel on hand I'll do half celery, half fennel stalk. I also like to serve it on wasa bread and top it with sliced Persian cucumber, quartered cherry tomatoes, and celery leaves

Can we just take a moment and appreciate Allison”s personality? I can watch these videos non stop without ever getting bored. So, about celery, I tried few years ago celery juice when it was so hyped around ( I guess it still is ) and since then I cannot stand it. But I will try it again for the sake of this recipe! Im more a ”mayo” girl but ill try my best to be more ”lemony” this time 💖💖😂😂

Celery, like beets, is difficult to enjoy. On the other hand, I've found that when I use celery judiciously in a recipe, it adds a nice crunch. But, with celery, less is more.

I just made your version of tuna salad and it will be my preferred from now on. The best thing is cutting down on Mayo and ramping up the lemon. Unfortunately I only had dried dill but it was still delicious. I did add a teaspoon of Poupon mustard and chopped up a few green olives in place of capers. Lemon is key! So good and thank you.

I can't wait to try this, but do have to say... Duke's is the only mayonnaise as far as I'm concerned. I can't get it in stores where I live so whenever I'm back down South, I get two large-ish squeeze bottles and haul them back home like some kind of weird mayo mule. Then I'm set for like a year.

There was a little place called Tartine in LA they used Polaine bread. You can overnight it from France. It's quite wide bread, they're open faced so you only need one piece, cut into strips. I use to get the variety plate, where u could pick three different ones. I would usually never order tuna salad, but they had the best--very bright and lemony, but they had cumin seeds in it and it was just so good and juicy. The bread was slightly pretoasted, so I could take a few sandwiches home and they never got soggy. When I was a kid I hated tuna salad and peanut butter and jelly, which is what every kid would eat back then. So u probably wasn't very popular when it came to lunch. My grandmother would make me a tuna sandwich with just lemon on it.
