The electrical diag was like hieroglyphics without a Rosetta stone for this DIYer. You're probably in triple digits by Independence Day. You shouldn't notice the heat in that brand new air conditioning. You guys should probably bring your sweaters and mittens for the cold drive. Have a safe, fun trip.

Happy 4th of July Jimmy! You definitely deserve an extended weekend vacation. I'm surprised that your son traded in his Supra for a pickup. I had an 83 Celica Supra that I really liked. Unfortunately it was terrible in the winter so I traded it in for a 4wd Ford F150.

Hi Jimmy, Check your insurance. In UK if you hardwire dashcam it is considered as car modification and they may decline your insurance. When is powered by the cigarette lighter socket it is considered accessory.

Wow, that’s amazing if that is the case. Here they reduce your rates for having a dash cam of any kind. Only a govt agency or insurance company could see that as a difference, lol. Thanks for the heads up though! :)

Hey! I loved the demonstration of that scope, been contemplating about getting that one or a Pico scope. I was wondering if you could’ve used a break out box check if the ECM was good or not instead of the scope? Seems like you could’ve checked for high resistance in the ECM? I could be wrong but I was curious!

The Pico is the go to for most, but this little scope is a great inexpensive scope. As long as two channels is enough. I might do another video on it soon. The resistance test wouldn’t be my first thought, since communication stops and the CAN stays active, but corrupted. If it pulled to power or ground resistance would likely change across CAN high and CAN low. Thanks

@@JimmyMakingitwork Always appreciate the input, I would love both as the little one seems to be great for quick testing while the pico is more in-depth. Sorry for my lack of understanding of CAN network, I’ve only just started getting into it so I appreciate you explaining as to why you wouldn’t have. I have question about the CAN testing you were doing; was the CAN network that was showing as corrupt the return line from the ECU? As the CAN network line going in was showing good, therefore you were able to deem the ECU as faulty? Or am I just all over the place haha I forgot to say before but your willingness to share your talent & knowledge is truly appreciated.

For those that might be new technicians, a heat gun is a valuable tool in order to confirm heat-related ECU or module failure. Thermal expansion of solder joints is not an uncommon failure of automotive electronics.
