Yeah, they way underestimated it. I’m on stock turbo right now with just a dp and fuel pump on my 340. It’s ~490 to wheels on OTS flex fuel map This thing with a hybrid turbo and custom tune is 550-620 to the wheels easily lmao
@3Pedal_ Accord lol the funny part was when Sam asked "so it makes about 500 uhh BRAKE HP?" Instead of at least asking something relevant like crank or wheel.
Went for spin in Abdul’s 340i that day and man that thing makes insane torque, way more than the stock GTR. Thoroughly impressed! The torque figure stated is definitely misquoted. Also what people often forget is that a hybrid turbo may not make much more peak horsepower but the powerband (area under the dyno curve) is way better!
@@akazi1582I’d say 600+ wheel. I can make 480+ on stock turbo. Hybrid turbo with just fuel pump and down pipe can get you close to 700 whp with the right tune
@@Youcallthesebagels_ daaang my guy…that was almost a week ago, you still shook about the 340? 🤣 You are comparing a 100k+ sports car to a 40k sedan 🤦🏻♂️ …” if ” a bicycle were running the same power the 🚲 would teleport, what’s your point? “Fact” of this video is that particular GTR got humbled. PERIOD. You can talk “ if’s ” all day…why can’t people just stick to the subject at hand?
B58 is not even close to being a Legend, you mean a 2JZ, RB26, VR38, those are true legends. You don't see no 2000 hp to 3,500 hp engines out of a B58. Talking bout 6 Cylinders only. Come on man, Lmao.
@@Charlie589 Why you have to make all that power to be legendary? With a simple tune, and down pipe, the M340i makes about 500hp. That’s all I need for a car like that. No need to blow your motor and rebuild it to make a point. Respect all engines capable of making reliable power.
@@socalmrt B58 is not legendary, it's the baby out of the 6 cylinders with a fast shifting gearbox, that's cause it's all new technology that's why. 2JZ, RB26 that's like 30 year old technology still notorious out there. VR38 that's like 15 year old technology still the baddest 6 cylinders out there, B58 compares nothing to it, only with new technology that's all. Imagine if Nissan or Toyota came up with newer motors and gearboxes, that's game over!
@@Charlie589 If the 2JZ is so bad ass, which I do agree when built, why wasn’t it used in the new Supra? Or some variation out of that engine? Emissions play a big roll these days. That’s why all the tech is involved in today’s engines. Almost 400hp stock and still getting 30+ mpg on the highway. The B58 engine is very good. You can’t deny it. I’ve had Two Evos 4G63 and 4B11T 4 cylinder engines and no where near as efficient as the B58 engine. Again, I’m not knocking on any of those engines.
GTR's are still very relevant performance wise especially in the streets, mile events, and drag racing events. Things still dominate the TX2K events along with the Lambo's.
Why do people keep saying that BMW under rates their power ? Power is NOT something that is rated, MOVIES are rated, rating are opinions/ veiw-points. Power is measured..by anyone that has the tools like a dyno-meter.
@@shabanajannik2600 if you listen he says 480 to 500whp excuse me...either way with that setup he's 640 to the wheels not 500. That GTR with power train loss is making just about 497 or so to the wheels.no where close to being a fair race.
As a BMW owner myself I’m proud that BMW is winning however this BMW has more HP than stated for sure or the GTR has lost its power somehow. No way in hell with less HP and only 100 lbs less that BMW can beat the GTR just like that.
So no one is going to mention the fact that he say's that this is a 2009 GTR, not a 2018. The 2009 has 480HP at the crank. I'm pretty sure that a 2018 would have made the race alot closer. *edit.. my bad, I had to listen harder when he mentioned 2009.. he says, "has been in the market since 2009". I stand corrected.. lol. Yes the Bimmer is quick.
At first I was wondering how a tuned 340 would be that fast. Come to find out it has upgraded turbos. And with the higher flowing fuel pump my guess is it's running some e85. It all makes sense now lol.
Is the b58 reliable? Looking into getting one specifically a RWD 2020 model but don’t want to get into it and regret down the road. I plan on driving it daily btw
@@StevenSVT ya of course those 1800hp+ gtrs are usually the price of supercars... cool but cheap crap. Im a fan of Japanese culture/art. I appreciate their cars and watches but man people put the gtr like its some god tier car. Its fun its fast but its pre crap in person.
4:45, shaking of the head that is all... That Bimmer makes some serious power ...prob more than is advertised based on the pulling on each gear... Don't forget that GTR has a DCT...
I would love to see what a tuned gtr would run against that b58..tuned to around the same hp,just to improve the PowerBand. EVEN though This b58makes less power ,it just seems to have a better overall PowerBand than the gtr
My 340i has a downpipe, pure800 turbo, TU HPFP and a couple of minor supporting mods. It made 551 wheel at E30 on a mustang Dyno at 2700ft elevation after hours of messing on the Dyno with hot IAT's. I'd be surprised if he only made 500, as others mentioned.
@@chrismacandrew9692 tf are you talking about wasting money? That gtr was made for track and it would annihilate that bmw on any track. "I wasted my money" lmao suuuure kid
@@jponz85 its a shit car on track.. its only fast with all the electronics driving for you, its a boat without them. i.e its crap on track, its a boat unless you let the a.i drive for you which is not the point of a track car. also the gtr pricetag is the m4 pricetag, not this one ;) ~salty tears~
I’m stage two with a downpipe making 420 whp 456wtq. If u have upgradeee fuel pump and hybrid turbos, above 500whp even without ethanol mix. With ethanol u can easily push 600 Whp with. His setup. But yea b58 is a beast for the price point. And stage 3 xhp tcu tube flash is a must when pushing over 450 Whp on zf8, so I’m pretty sure he might have that, if not he should.
Those are pretty much the same numbers that i was making on my 16 340i with mhd stage 2 on 91 dp and injen intake i did blow the turbo to smitherines though haha. Then sold it and bought a 2016 lexus gsf then sold that and got a 2021 charger hellcat redeye sold that cause it landed me in jail now im in a 2021 civic type r lol. My 340 was fun because it was the base model so it was a complete sleeper minus the vorsteiner 20 inch wheels with 295 on rear
Love this race. At this point though, I think that 340i is pretty maxed out power wise? I know the owner has his car dialed in pretty good - curious what Abdul thinks is left to get out of the engine to push even more out of the B58 on stock internals. This GTR is bone stock with an absolute mountain of bolt on performance upgrade possibilities + tune. Seeing the R35 stock hang in there, was still cool. Good stuff Sam!
Far from it actually, b58 can handle well over 700whp on stock block, just go watch 1fastf30, he did 9s 1/4 mile, and b58 are very reliable even when modded
The 340 is definitely not maxed out with that setup. I have a 340i with his exact setup and I am currently at 623 whp. The difference is fuel used. I have an e50 tune and a 93oct tune which the 93 puts me at 500 whp. If I add port injection I am easily at 700plus whp on stock internals. The GTR is awesome though!
🤣🤣🤣 not even close, this 340i is not even in the 100 fastest 340i out there, many 340i b58 running high 9s on stock engine and stock Transmission with just PI and custom tuned, if u think this is fast, wait till you about the mrnohesib58 gang
Second race you can really see the weight difference come into play. If he wants to win either massive weight reduction from the car or upgrade engine +trune
Yeah but you’re comparing apples to oranges my dude, you can get that year/model bmw and tune for for around 30-35k all set and done, you need easily over 100k on the cheap to get the gtr to beat a car that cost almost 4 times less, that’s what you’re failing to see here lol
@@frankcastle1578 except that the GTR is a way better car and won't be a one trick pony. GTR could do drag racing one weekend and set 9 sec passes with minimal mods and go destroy cars the next weekend all day on a circuit course m
The 340i is a crazy tuning platform and it's a great daily but if you've ever been in or around a GTR it's so much cooler and feels a lot more special. The 340i is so obtainable compared to a $100k car though and if it's anything like the E92 335i's, you'll be able to one 10-12 years for a quarter of the original price
True man, where I am the depreciation on the euro stuff is pretty bad, starts off twice the price of a corolla, ends up half the price & not many people want to buy it
@@dood4623 I actually like the rwd's, traction can become an issue but they're fun to drive, I definitely would've bought an r34 gtr if I knew the price was gonna go so stupid though ffs lol
B58 just out performs everything, like wtf is up with that car man, I know the 340i is tuned but apparently it's very cheap to tune and get ridiculous power out of that thing. That GTR is already over 120k at least, and to get beat by some B58 with just a couple mods is insane, I know the gtr would win if it's modded too but than that's like a 200k at that point. For the money, B58 triumph
B58 are beast. They beat pretty much everything, but their biggest nemesis are Vr30's. Those Infinitis make a lot of power with a few mods too and you see them walking a lot of 340s. The other is that 5 cylinder Audi TTs & RS3's. But, that Gtr never had a chance. It's nice to see this, as long as that Gtr doesn't get modded, they are guaranteed to make 2000 ponnies
@@Sneezeaddicts there are plenty of engine platforms that have greater potential than the B58. It's s matter of how much you wish to spend. B58 and Vr30 are just cost effective to get decent power gains. If you have the money there are many engine platforms to trounce them. A popular one is the Ford & shelby coyote & predator engines Before you say it. I run BMW and Mercedes myself. I own a B58 and an N54. I'm not hating on them at all. Just calling it a it is.
@@Youcallthesebagels_ and for every M4 there's 5 million Nissan's. It lost it's cool factor (for me) because Nissan has been building on the same platform for 14 years. Why should I get more excited about seeing a 2022 GTR than a 2008 GTR? To put this in better perspective, my nephew was 4yo when the GTR debuted. He's in college now, lol.
I know owner of that bmw, he always have really fast cars, I remember his Honda cvt was shocking everyone here, no surprise his b58 is super fast too, felt bad for gtr owner though , man look sad, don’t be bro it’s all fun man
hats off to the B58 platform. I wish the GTR was tuned or at least Nissan can take videos like this serious enough to properly usher in a new generation with a more potent and aggressive power band but hey
I wish he said what turbo he was running, he said hybrid so I’m thinking probably a pure 800? If so, that’s really impressive performance he’s getting out of that thing.
Stock turbo 340, stage 2+ makes around 470 hp. On E40 around 530 / 540 HP. (Not whp). Hybrid makes it around 500 whp. Guess they are talking about whp. I'm pretty sure a stock turbo on e40 would give the GTR a run for its money
I love 340i’s but a turbo kit+down pipe+fuel pump+tune is much more than just a “tuned 340i” lol. You’re taking a 4 second 0-60 awd car and giving it probably 200 extra horsepower and even more torque, and it’s not going to struggle to put the power down because x drive is phenomenal from a dig. There are very few cars on the market that could beat that 340i while being completely stock. We all know how awesome GTR’s are, if you did these same mods to it, there’s .01% of cars that could beat it and the ones that could would not be street cars, they’d be drag rigs with slicks and race fuel. Just a little perspective, really awesome 340i but I think it’s a little out of context if you ask me. I’ve seen people getting 700+ horsepower with those mods on the newer M340i, even more if they’re running ethanol or meth.
who Wouldnt love a GTR? when you see one of these in person, I can tell you, they are Something Special and they Standout... theres a dead serious, beefy, brawny, "I will eat you alive" vibe that these GTR's have and it comes from the capabilities and long history.
Some didn’t say the truth here .. I respect the new inline BMW engine but most people knows the performance of that engine well at what stage can beat the gtr !
I think bmw made the b58 way too powerfully much less with tune, it's out performing everything it competes with so much that it's going up against much higher competition and even then it's walking them, let's not forget that gtr is well over a 100k and they need alot of $$$ in mods to make them faster too. And gtr's always seem to run into problems when tuned, on carwow, throttle house all the tuned gtr always have some problems..
People need to realize that GTR's were considered super car killers 10 years ago when a common super car were running low 11's in the 1/4 mile. That was 10 years ago, now low 11's are common for saloons straight from the factory. GTR's never caught up to the competition as time went on and just stayed the same. I don't know why people are shocked that a tuned b58 with d/p's and a hybrid turbo inched out a win over a stock GTR. They're not as quick as most people think in stock form, it's a 15 year platform.
Having spent some time in a stock GTR on a track, I highly doubt the BMW stands much of a chance on a road course. The GTR has immense traction, especially pulling out of a high speed corner.
@@colinstafford1015 Well yes, all GTR's were made to be track cars, so it was a shock to the car community when the r35 came out, that it was so quick in a straight line also. It's no comparison between the two on a track. BMW stop caring about track cars and driving experience a while ago and seem to only care about acceleration numbers.
