Short discussion about slotted tungsten VS slotted one. Few pros and cons. Plus another interesting fly made with condor substitute instead of biot.
Hope you will enjoy it.

Tungsten: Jig off 3.3mm
Thread: Semperfli nanosilk 18/0 in red

Body: Condor substitute in golden olive
Ribs: wire in tan colour
Thorax and legs: Peacock dubbing uv black mixed with cdc in dubbing loop

@@Oholisfliesandfishing Hi Vlad - I saw a video by Kelly Galloup the other day which is about tying dry files on a jig hook. The idea is to get the tippet (a short piece of fluorocarbon) under water near the eye of the hook. His video is about 2 year old. I haven't seen anyone else do this. Have you?

Thanks for another instructive presentation. Will have to buy a few Jig off beads and give them a try.Regards from NZ.

Thanks a lot.... Another thought for you.. You can combine them with classic shapes to get more weight for flies. First you put jig off with indent facing backwards then add classic or slotted to make it fit that indent... If that makes sense.. 😀🍺🍺

Another great video Vlad! I’ve been wanting to try these teardrop beads because of the interesting look it presents. Thanks for pointing out some of the benefits also. And if someone’s video doesn’t have a squeaky bobbin in it, it isn’t real!! Thanks, Trent

Thank you so much Trent. I didnt switch to jig offs completely but i am having more and more of them. I think those are superior in some cases.

thank you for your instructive video! you make a very persuasive case for the jig off beads particularly in light of the footage you also showed in one of your other videos of the behaviour of flies under water. If you'll excuse the pun, it turns on its head everything I thought my nymphs were doing under water! One small aside: I find it very useful to have an milligram scale to get a good idea of what weight is necessary in some of the waters I fish.

The real advantage of those new beads is you really don't need jig hooks anymore.

exactly....unless you want to balance a fly...in that case jig has it's benefits. Tbh, i dont make balanced flies... Cheers, Vladimir

Hi Valad! I've been using the Jig-off bead ever since I saw you using them in one of your videos. I fish very close to the bottom, often pausing the fly right on the bottom so I like a hook-point-up balance to the fly. Found the Jig-off bead to be very versatile and convenient to use - thanks very much for drawing my attention to it. Needed to special order the Jig-off bead, hopefully they will become more popular and easier to find. Cheers!

@@Oholisfliesandfishing I've always been here Vladimir. I'm subscribed to your channel on the account we use on the TV so you are being watched on the BIG screen ;) I lurk but say little because, if you recall, I live in a warm water fishery and I'm fishing larger flies for bass, walleyes and pike. The smallest hook I use is a #10 and my typical fly is at least 10 cm long tied on a 1/0 hook. Just a bit different from what you usually tie :) Been using the Jig-off on Dragonfly nymph, skulpin (small baitfish) and leech patterns. I'll be testing a "stand-up" caddis larva pattern I'm working on (for carp) as soon as the ice is off the rivers. I do fish for panfish so I have a box of nymphs, dries, terrestrial and poppers in the smaller sizes. You would recognize a lot of your patterns there... just tied on larger hooks. Take care Vladimir, all the best to you and your family! Hank

@@hankvana2149 glad to hear that you are here. I watched once my video on my friends huge TV and i was surprised how good footage is. I am glad i bought camera that can record in 4K. I also live in place without trout. Most of flies i need here are damsels with light weight or no weight and ants... But i always long for trout fishing 😀 Al the best for you and family Vladimir
