I'm only 22 from Hull and been building mopeds for about 3 years, mainly piaggio zips, obviously I don't know everything and your videos help a lot! Just sorted my air\fuel on my gilera stalker I use for work and also just rebuilt the top end on my dads vespa px125 with a dr180 kit and played with the carb and got it spot on thanks to some wise words of wisdom from your self. Giving gas while on stand is a bit problem for speedfight 2. Central stand is in same direction as movement of the piston, like straight line. Inertia of piston makes tiny lifting vibration to stand and that pull whole bike back. Engineering mistake
Hi again Mark, so sorry for the continuous messages but I need continuous help with this bike unfortunately aha. I’m going to upload a video if you can just have a quick look please. The rpms are really inconsistent and sounds like a dog. When I accelerate the rpms stay and then slowly go down. Thanks again Mark Savage!!
Hi Mark thanks for the reply and no I didn't bend the pop over I completely removed it and welded a plate over the hole that was in the pipe. Iv fitted the 12mm Gurtner carb that is fitted with a 45 pilot jet and a 56 main jet the needle clip is in the second notch my air mixture screw is about 1 and a quarter turns out from fully closed but after riding around the garden my plug is black
So that's running too rich so more air needed Needle is right and jet size too So you need to come out more Do you have to air box link pipe on ?, If so take it off Like in my 2t carb tuning video you need to slowly turn out the air mix But guessing it still on choke Is that working ok and coming off as that would run rich !
TY for your videos,,,,So tell me if this is correct when it comes to tuning, turn the mixture screw until you are at highest idle, THEN adjust the throttle screw. When the mixture screw is turned in all the way in it should kill the engine, if it does not then you need a smaller pilot jet. Likewise, if you turn the mixture screw all the way out and you cant get highest idle the you need bigger pilot jet
Hope You can help me I have a gy6139qmb 50cc 4T it is rebuild from top to bottom all new parts. I put a 50mm top end on it and I need to know if I can put a pwk 21mm carb and a k&n filter on it. Thanks

hi bud, ok what did you change to get it running from last tiem, what air filter are you running on it ?, did you change the piston? sometimes if the air petrol mix is not right it can soil up the spark plug give that a look at or simple it's wet on the roads now and water can get to the ht plug and ark out try is in one of my videos place a bit of plastic / rubber ( like a mud flap only needs to be 4" sq) ) to cover the plug from the water is spraying up from the rear wheel as it common hope that helps mark
Hi Mark iv got the scooter running and after riding it around the garden the plug seams to be a light Sandy brown but today it wouldn't start checked the plug and it was wet but had a weak spark so put it in the oven to warm up fitted it and it started and died so did it again and the same happened so I replaced the already new spark plug and it fired up straight away what could be eating my new plugs
Hi mark, I’ve asked you a few questions before. I Have am Aerox with a 70cc kit (new piston and cylinder) and a stage 6 exhaust (new) and 4.5g rollers. It bogs down untill about 20mph then zooms off the 60mph. I want the power at the start back I was wondering wether I need a bigger carb or a cone filter
With light roller 4 5g it should pull away well I use 6g You know I dont like 70 kits Yea carb and tune so you still using 17.5 Might be worth 19mm And them jet plus 4 I dont like sports air filters but on the aerox they work better so try that and air mix first
mark savage it’s not even the 17.5 it’s still the 12mm because my old 70cc kit was a low power one basically 5mph more than a 50cc so never needed to change it. But I think it’s time
hi bud confused how, you find the air mix screw , like in the tuning video and I do have a few on 2t and 4t bikes remember where the screw is so how many turns it was when you screw it in so if it goes wrong you can put it back as was! I say 3 half turns as your hand wont turn 360! so do it in half turns , as in the videos bud theres 465 videos all in and 150 on mopeds but they should all help what is your moped or bike 2t or 4t then its 3 or 6 half turns out stranded and tune from there bud

Hi mark. Great videos ive a 125 speedfight after changing the starter moter it still wont even turn over engines ok the starter will work when earth's to engine but not fitted really sruck any ideas
Check earth to starter Check battery earth Check micro switches and brake light comes on They do suffer from earth ,if needed run a new earth to frame Check live is ok and insolated
Mark thank you for taking time out to reply to my question, your absolutely spot on the earth to the engine was only 10V a little bit of cleaning around the terminal and away we go.

ciaran haverty tuning bud or air leak Make sure it all tight and not sucking in air Air fuel pipes ok Air box Needle in ok Auto choke Float not sticking Check it all over then like in my video , tuning bud Please like share and sub Mark
Start your bike and spray the boot and intake manifold with starter fluid if it bogs down you have an air leak if it doesn't bog then you're just running lean and you need to adjust your fuel-air screw if it just in your fuel air screw does not work that means that you need to up jet if it is a carburetor that has both a slow Jet and a main jet change jet to a larger Jet and retune and if it's a carburetor like a NT carb that only has a main jet change a needle clip setting if that does not work change the main jet out to a larger size
check out my Auto chock video, how to test connect the green to earth and yellow to live it should come out by 6 mm ish or moreI used to just buy another on e bay as only £10 or so , this will helpmaybe check or change plug too, while the carb is off give it a service like in my carb videosmark
Hi Mark it does have the link pipe yes and the choke seams to be working fine and I don't touch anything till its warmed up like u say in your videos. I was wondering I put the needle clip on the top notch would that help or should I just leave it on the second notch as I'd prefer to leave the link pipe on as I don't want any water or moisture getting in to the carb
to be honest the link pipe can cause this problem and id run it off to see how it runs. ive had them that only run with it and other with out, don't worry about water it doesn't get in give it a good and id leave the needle till you try this bud
Mark don’t you think setting the mixer screw is to adjust it get it on the road 30second blast kill it take plug out because it’s hot no wait on it ?? Just like to know your reply mate
so the air mix screw is to set the carb up,if wrong it will be too lean and run with no power and if to rich it will flood run lumpy and black up your plug you start at 3 half and go in or out for best running and I have a video on a zip on how to do it right and a few others it does not make your bike over heat just wring as said and you need to set it up right take in to consideration have you got the right plug in and is it ok or need replacing air filter is it clean or need replacing jet size too big or too small throttle cable and setting or needle air cooled or water cooled state of stator and ht coil any one of these can mess around not even to mention the reeds
Hi Mark sorry to bother you but I'm struggling with setting up my carb on my 2009 50cc lc speedfight 2. It's all standard so no sports pipe or performance air filter the only thing iv done was remove the variator washer and removed the silly pipe on the exhaust. Iv had to replace the carb as it was all gunked up inside I tryed to clean it plus i was unable to remove the jets so im now running a 12mm Gurtner but unsure what main jet or pilot jet I would need plus the needle what notch does the clip need to be on ?
As long as you bend over the metal pipe on the exhaust that the pipe was connected to that fine Now carb that's your problem You will need a speedfight carb only Not one of these Chinese carbs If so the air mix must be all the way in 54 / 56 standard jet Try and get a 2nd one or have a good go at the old one
I have Piaggio zip 2t going 40mph max speed with 17.5mm carb derestricted leovince tt exhaust 5.5G malossi rollers malossi x Kevlar belt, is there anything I could do to get it quicker also my jet is 86 in my carb, would a new air filter or derestricted cdi off of pedparts help do the job?
Hi mark I installed a powerfilter on my scooter and when i go 3/4 throttle its fine but when i go full throttle it starts going BWWWWAAAAaaap.. and starts bogging down Do you know how to fix that?
Take the power filter back off lol Too much air , you will need to marry up th3 jet to the filter Find out jet size Buy a pack of 10 different size either side and change up or down till it runs with a little tune
Hi mark I’ve got a speed fight 2 ac 50cc it’s got race exhaust carb is upjetted to 68 running 6 gram rollers and it really struggles to get past 30mph I was thinking of upgrading to carb to a 17mm one to see if it would make it that bit faster but I thought I’d get your opinion on it first
Ok Sports exhaust? It is a good one and not really loud ? If so too much getting out and the problem Carb ? Speedfight standard carb 60 jet Speedfight air box , with or without link box? Variator 6g is right but like in my videos?
Does anyone know what size carb I need for a Peugeot speed fight 4 2 stroke 70cc as I think I have a too small of a carb because when it’s idling it just turns off and when I’m riding it kind of bogs and at full throttle the speed just slowly goes down like it’s losing power

i do have a few on the zip type in zip or moped 50cc mark savage as for you problem that is common and more likely to be carb problems when did last service the moped what have yo done and what has been changed

@@MrBerenguer67 you might of not needed a new carb however remember to put you old jet in the new carb as thats what it was running on 3 half start as in my tuning videos type in tuning mark savage
hi bud , 10g to 11g they will be fine, remember to give it all a good clean and change the belt if it looks slack or worn.hope that helps I do have a lot of videos on the variator system maybe give them a watch. mark

Hi mark, just rebuilt my 50cc top end and it’s hard to start. anyways i got it started but it ran like rubbish. so i put my hand over the cylinder and felt air. could air be coming from the flywheel? is liquid gasket a good option? thanks mark
they can run bad for fitting and may take a little running first , however I not sure what your saying you put you hand over the head is it air cooled or water , ive put them back you gasket seal and they are fine ,so you think its leaking from the head? did it tighten down ok like in my videos criss cross ,could be loose I guess
Yes, the bolts are very tight but i’ll eventually get it running and the isles really dodgy so I then I put hand over the head and felt air getting sucked on. Could I use gasket sealer to do it?
Three and a halve turns? That's 3,5 turns. Not 3,5 _halve_ turns. Please choose your words carefully, As A Dutch guy I heard you say 3.5 turns. This made my own little private carb adventure a little more demanding than I could handle. No offense though, I like to watch your content.
Ha ha , 1 5 full turns It very hard to turn your wrist like that So I say 3 half turn , its easier to adjust And work out or in from there and this is for 2t 4t is 3 full turns to start 6 half But I'm from Essex And 51 It's the way I am and try to help bud You take care
can you please give me some advice. i have a peugeot speedfight 2 lc 2003 and it does not run. it has a good blue spark and it gets fuel because the sparkplug gets wet after a copple of kicks
Anton Pol hi bud was it running before and when did it stop ie what happened ? If you have spark and a wet plug then you may have to think no about looking at the piston ! Buts it KC so gasket set will be needed but that’s what I’d be looking at next if you have tried everything else like in my other videos give them a look bud there’s loads to watch Mark
Hello again boss :) Im having tremendous flooding issues... watched every video you have on carburetors and still cant find an answer .. I have one of those red motorforce PHBG 21mm carbs on a 70cc gilera runner (Stage6 streetrace iron cast). Was working fine until a few days ago.. could not get it to start and tried every trick in the book for flooding.. letting it evaporate, engine starter spray etc, the spark plug is soaked from 3 kicks.. opened carb, cleaned it all (was clean), float is straight and not getting stuck. Main jet 92, idle jet 50.. needle set in mid ring. could i have scored the cylinder or F*ded a segment ring?? last week i was going full throttle and at almost 120 she went Buoohh... didnt die and kept idle, pulled to the side, waited a bit and kept going. Stopped it and on the next day it wouldnt start.... been at this since then ... Any tips you might have? thanks in advance Maestro!
the buoohh sound was not a good sound at all bud first now you must now I dont like big bore kits as you have watched loads of my videos and this is why, well done for the top speed by the way lol I think it time to get the head off and have a look what you have done to it , rings, piston, reeds anything could have gone and its the only way to find it bud as once it cooled down the damage was done so more work bud lets know how you get on
@@marksavage Thanks a lot buddy!! your videos have been super helpful and saved me quite a bit of money haha. i do regret getting a big bore.. im thinking of putting back the stock cylinder and carb, upjet it and thats it. been giving me lots of issues lately.. I managed to find the source of the problem and she started nicely, but spits a lot at WOT from a standing point with the same carb settings it always had. My guess is that i scored the cylinder although it still has compression.. should have removed the oil pump and go manual mix! haven't taken the cylinder out yet, ill have a look at it later today and let you know what i find. Once again, thanks a million!!

@@marksavage Forgot to mention boss, i still have the stock Gilera CDI unit and coil... could that BUOHH be the CDI cutting off the engine as it reached 10k rpm??? This just crossed my mind .. i was between 115 and 120kmh (speedos arent accurate). I also got a stage6 pro replica pipe and 7.5g rollers, she does rev pretty high

Yes I've done all those things mark after watching Ur vids , the bike is practically new only done 1500 ks nothing has been tampered with . Should I be getting the CDI, coil tested now ? Maybe it's electrical . It's the stock exhaust on it and a dellorto carb I forgot to mention .
@@mattkennedy9610 no cdi is fine as its running , spark is nice and blue and not orange when testing , carb cleaned with carb cleaner what fuel are you using e10 or e5 and in my video use e5 only
Hi mark I only use a e5 fuel mate , never E10. It hasn't got the restricter plate in the back of the carb I bought it like that , wld that cause it to bog on high revs? I'm pretty sure it's spose to have one standard , it's the same as the white one in Ur vid there . 2016 model . Cheers mate.

Hi Mark, when bike is running no matter the weather or temperature my exhaust seems to give out near enough no visible smoke. It’s not running lean or rich so any idea why? Is it anything to worry about?
It's all ok as long as your using 2t oil it just means your piston rings are really good and the engine is running well so burning all the oil with no excess bud Dont worry

First time watching your videos haha I got a piaggio nrg 70cc with standard Carb open filter race ripe malossi 70cc kit and 76 jet it starts up but now just floads really quick and dies on throttle any ideas if I need a new Carb ? As was running fine for 2 weeks running in the kit
Josh rapper sorry to say most 70cc kits fail a few miles after as they don’t get the right amount of oil into the head ! They get to Hot and fail Check out the piston and check over , did you change the plug to a higher one as I would run hotter ? This is why I say don’t do it lol My video should help bud there’s loads maybe not on the nrg but same thing Mark
@@Josh-ed6ll I know I'm late but Mark has no idea what he's talking about, ur main jet is way to small for a 70cc with an open airfilter you should be more around size 90 main jet

Louie Gibson really wow well I’ve cleaned loads and I do mean loads and a Peugeot speedfight 50cc ac and LC uk standard carb in all of them has been a 54 jet ! But if that’s what they said go for it bud 72 in a 100cc up to 88 but if it runs all good Check out my other speedfight videos there are over 50 and a few should help Have fun bud
My speedfight 2 ac has got mallosi air filter, leo vince exhaust, changed the rollers, 72jet I've took the washer out and just won't go over 41mph is there anything else I can do to make it go faster
Start over What was your top speed before Did you do all the things then try I would have just changed the exhaust 1st Then test Air filter And tune New rollers with a clean Test Washer out test 72 jet is big !! Is it bogging ?
yes bud 2t carb tuning are all the same 4t carb tuning is 6 to start but normally about 4 just remember what it was at the start then you can always go back
hi bud thanks for watching, ok to rule out any other problems put the old one back on and see if it runs ok? if yes see where you fuel mix is and then put the new one on, as it will let more air in you may have to adjust the air mix or even up jet as you are getting more air in and a sports exhaust? hope that helps bud mark

MattedArtworks hi bud Well it’s a cheap moped bud but start with the engine mounts check them Is the vibration coming from the engine ? Or moped as it rolls , still put it on the stand and see how much the engine moves left to right What are the Tyres and wheels like ? Suspension ? Give all that a look at first and see what you find Mark
normally its the jet size and bogging down it would be too big , try going down a size or 2 see how big it is now and go down in 4 - so if its like a 68 try a 64 and see how it runs
Either what mark said or air flow take your air box off put you hand over half of it and then rev it and try it and adjust hand movement, i had this with my aprillia sr50 buddy
@@marksavage it's a naraka 21mm racing carb. Spend over 6 hours trying to tune it and gone through 5 spark plugs. Iv handed it over to a friend that knows what hes doing. I understand the basics but just cant quite get that perfect tweek it needs. Great video btw iv spent the pass week watching most of your vids :)
@@marksavage it's a It's a Piaggio liberty S with aprilia sr motard 50cc engine, Naraka 70cc kit, naraka 21mm racing carb with 86 main jet, needle clip on 3rd slot (if that's any help) Motorforce reeds wi cone airfilter. Running premixed at 125ml:5L
@@carlbozier4563 and theres your problems bud with the carb the 70cc kit , i'd lower the jet but its going to be a nightmare as you already know . did you change plug up number as it will run hotter too plus hate the filters once damp or wet !! going down will help with the rich and tuning bud but you may have to go down in 4s before it runs
@@marksavage hi again, so on my 2001 aprillia rx50, its got a SHA carb on it and i can't find an air fuel ratio screw on it just an idle screw, basically the problem is, the minute i pull the clutch in the revs start going up to 9k lol, Im waisting loads of fuel and sitting at the traffic lights is pretty embarrassing with it idling at 9k, turn the idle screw out but dosent change it one bit. Would really appreciate the help if you have any idea what it could be?? Thanks

I have a Yamaha aerox 2008 bought it was fully running but the automatic choke was bodged so I bought a new one and put it on now bike isn’t starting but it wants to start I don’t know if it’s the carb or not so could u plz help me and let me know ur instagram or Facebook so I can mssg u on there instead of here plz
the auto choke has either 1 or two wires , power to it and an earth to the frame or both wires to the auto choke did you fit it correctly best take the carb off and clean , clean or change plug and clean air filter
