So this is turning out to be a longer process than what I thought it would be. I got my unlocked PCM last week and followed the procedures that needed to be done before swapping the PCM. I disconnected my battery then I removed the gray/silver connector, but then the tan/beige connector wouldn’t come undone at all. In the process of trying to get it off, I ended up breaking the red latch off. So in the end, I was unable to get the connector off and had to take it to the dealership to have them get it off plus put a new latch on it. I went and picked my truck up from the dealership yesterday and brought it home and immediately swapped my PCM since I had already installed the bypass module and gotten the stock tune onto the tuner last Thursday. So then I continued on with the process and selected which tune I wanted to do and then it asked me if I wanted to customize the tune or add it as is. By this time it was starting to get late and I had to go to bed so that way I could get up for work early in the morning. I tried to see if my truck could start and it would start and run for maybe one second and then die. It did this a total of five times until it no longer wanted to start. I’m hoping as long as I finish up tuning later on today when I get home from work but after doing that, my truck will finally start. If I keep having problems, I’m gonna have to just throw my stock PCM back in my truck since I have to pull my travel trailer next week.
hahahaha, my 3 year 30K warranty is expired. I am seriously considering this tuner within the next few months. I have to say I like the Trinity over the I3.
Thanks for watching I know this was a long vid lol. I’ve already received my basic tuning from Sean over at Hemifever, however I’m going to cruise with Diablo’s tuning for a bit so I can give you guys an honest review of it.
Hello sir! I liked watching both of your install videos, and the one where you brought it to the dealer. I picked up a used 2019 Big Horn last month and definitely want that Hemi to breathe like it's intended to! I have a K&N cold air intake, going to install the MBRP pro series exhaust, and have been kicking a tuner around. Edge Pulsar has one where you can plug into the existing PCM, but I don't think you can adjust the speed limiter. I noticed Diablo has the same tuning kit you have but it's over $1k. I'm guessing with that one they send you an unlocked one right off the rip? I've read a lot of forums about some malfunctions occurring and was a bit hesitant too. Your videos definitely explain a lot and I feel way better about getting the T2!! Thanks!
I been thinking of getting one of these tuners and unlocked pcms also. My truck though is a 17 ram 1500 crew cab hemi on 9” lift. Gas being almost $5 a gallon I’m not sure if I would wanna run or could afford to run 90+ octane. Im guessing you can switch octanes if needed and re tune for specific octanes? Will higher than 87 give better gas mileage? I’m sure I could benefit from this tuner a bit on the lesser octane But also be able to have other options like maybe speedometer calibration for my 37” tires? Not have the stupid rev limiter so my new duals with the X pipe glasspack muffler combo can start barking when I’m just getting into the throttle instead of having to be going 20+ mph and maybe turn up the mph But gotta watch it as I’m sure my tires are not rated for 100+ mph lol. I definitely want to experience the full or close to full potential of my hemi though and definitely have it shift different. I will also be running a big Vararam intake system. I did email Hemifever before and he was telling me about this exact setup.
Yes!! Gas prices right now suck! You can ask Sean for a 87 tune. I actually got him to send me a 87 and if gas continues to skyrocket I’ll be switching to a 87 tune. Even from the dealership they recommended you run 89 for the Hemi for best performance but can run 87. I’m currently running a hemifever 93 performance tune and I love it. However I’m not loving putting gas in it at almost $5 a gallon. Diablo also has a economy tune that comes with the Trinity II that is suppose to help with MPG. I hope I was able to answer most of your questions. Thanks for watching.
The Rebel GT 1500 comes with the same amount of HP as your typical 5.7 Ram. The only difference is the GT is more luxurious. It’s a beautiful truck. Another bonus is it already comes with the RamAirFlow intake and cat back exhaust, however the PCM is still locked. Yes getting a unlocked PCM and tune will add more HP along with other supporting mods. I would highly recommend long-tube headers with a tune. Big difference however these mods Will possibly void your warranty. Currently my truck has long tube headers with high flow cats, Mopar RamAirFlow intake, Mopar Cat back exhaust system, 180 thermostat, Activate Grill Shutter Delete, unlocked PCM with Hemifever custom tuning and TCM tuning. Those are all my performance mods and the truck runs great no problems no cel. My service manager wants to know who tuned my truck because they love driving it when I bring it in for regular service maintenance lol. I actually just had the truck serviced and I was told everything looks good. Next I want to change out the cam and torque converter. These trucks with those mods have been seen running 11’s in the quarter mile. That’s pretty fast for a big heavy beast like these trucks lol.
Honestly I’m not expecting much on the MPGs but we’ll see. Also the Trinity II does come with a preloaded MPG booster tune. If gas prices continue to sky rocket that might be something to explore in the future. You never know I might load the MPG booster and give it a review in the future.
@@MOPARRAM-bd9zk Well that’s good to hear about an MPG booster, that will come in handy if the gas prices continue to rise. Just wondering if the MPGs will drop after tuner mod without the booster. Keep us informed with that. As always, great video !
Am using 85 octane dealer said it’s ok should I use higher octane ? Also SD Legal speed limit is 85 so 100 mph is nothing . Have stock 2017 5.7 reg cab
I would use whatever your owners manual recommends. The 5th Gen Rams according to the owners manual is 89 recommended but also says 87 is acceptable. The higher 89 recommended will give you better performance and mpg. I run 93 because my truck is no longer stock. With all the performance modifications and tuning my truck is now recommended to run 93 for best performance and mpg. If your stock stick to the owners manual. Thanks for watching
