Here we have some stages of a turbo replace on a 2019 vw Passat 2.0 diesel. Not the easiest of tasks so filming the whole process sometimes just can’t be done but I’ve put together this short video so you get the idea of what’s going on here

Quite Interesting to watch. Man that turbo is very buried. What was the cause of the original turbo to fail? Oil starvation?

The turbos on the 2012 to 2015 passat tdi are notorious for going bad they actually have a recall on them

at a dealership I don’t think you would get much change from about £2000

I gave my car to the mechanic. Vw passat b7 2012 to change turbocharger, but after changing the turbo, my car misfires and won't move, and when acceleration, then noise. Mechanic tries to find a problem, but he can't find he told me he checks everything like leakage sparkplugs, all things that need to be checked for misfire, but he can't find anything. He does diagnostic, and there also shows no problem, but the car won't move, and noise when acceleration

From what you’ve said it sounds like something has gone wrong during the fitment of the the turbo

It's something he didn't put back right when replacing your turbo or he forgot to reflash the ecu.... when you replace the turbos on these the pcm has to be reflashed
