WOW, I just found this channel!!! I watched every video on your old channel up until you disappeared. I thought something bad happened to you. So glad to see you above ground and making new videos!! Looks like I got some catching up to do.
Yea i was wondering why i quit getting notifications for the old channel and was looking for 4l80 builds and his was the first to pop up and was like…..theres my man right there and in 50min showed me that i do not have the talent to pull off a 4l80 build😂
Yea I noticed I wasn't seeing you anymore either...but damn it's amazing what you know about a 4l80e. I wish I could have you build mine. It'll be the 1st winter season after I get my build done!
There are those people that think they know, and then there’s Richard who really does know. Whoever put this transmission together needs to take some notes and learn from the guy who does know how to do the job properly. Great video guys thank you.😁👍🇦🇺
After watching dozens of your videos, I will never take my car to just any old transmission shop. It’s 100% clear after seeing your videos that it is imperative to find a professional transmission shop for repairs. This really is super precise work.
I’m so glad I found your new channel, might be late to the party but that’s okay. Not sure what happened with your old channel and everything. I thought health issues might be to blame, but I’m sure glad to see y’all again! Looking forward to more videos!!!
Hey I’m so glad I found your new channel!!! I just found it today. I know absolutely nothing about transmissions but i sit and watch your videos for hours. I’m glad you’re still making videos.
@@bradlancaster427 Richard and his son Trent parted ways and Richard closed down the Precision Transmission shop. Then he set up another workshop next to his house.
You could give me every manual there is to put that back together, and in five years of time and it would look exactly like it does on his table. Thank God for journeyman!
I wish Cody T would get more credit or time lines or highlight his willingness to always go above and beyond. He personally helped us no names get to the finals in our 1st event out Thanks to your Th400 you built!
I am very happy to find this channel! I loved watching your other channel just due to the expertise and calm demeaner shown. I am not a mechanic at all I just love cars and all things related to them, Glad to see you both doing well.
I am so incredibly happy that you are back online!!!!! Now I don't have to stress out about sending my transmissions to a master of his trade! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Super video amazing how you remember all the components and any modifications on later boxes and if you can use them. truly outstanding work thank you both for posting from across the pond 😎
G'Day from the Land Down under🇦🇺 Im so happy I have found your channel again. I learnt so much ,with my T400 drag car transmission, thanks to you. I wish you all a great future. Im going to buckle up and watch to learn from your incredible knowledge. Welcome Back!
Super stoked you guys started another channel. I literally just found you again. Keep at the videos and you will grow it just like the other. I mess with transmissions as a hobby on the side and started following you from the beginning. Thanks for continuing to share your knowledge.
Watching you take that apart gives me anxiety. So many parts! How is he going to remember where they all go?? LOL Then I remember you're an expert and I've never been anywhere near the inside of one of these. Thanks for the video...I learned a lot today.
This was good to see. I actually just had a trans build, early 4L80-E with a Jake’s D3 Pro trans brake. I saw you previously had a video saying daily driving with a trans brake is bad. I was hoping because the D3 is a different trans brake, it would be daily driver friendly and not wipe out the pump with continuously too much pressure.
Welcome back old freind ! Missed seeing your video's. My 2 cents if you get busy (which you do) just post them every month or three to keep the channel going and fans engaged. Short ones are cool too. :)
Wondered where you went. Glad i rediscovered you. I'm not a Transmission guy but love to watch a true expert give a masterclass on your craft. Liked and subscribed, just like before.
I have come to the same conclusion as you have. The way he just keeps pulling assembly after assembly out of that transmission, and just spits out a constant flow of knowledge about so many intricate nuances in that machine... It really leaves me in awe, knowing that I would Never, ever, attempt to work on a machine as complex as that transmission. There's just no way. Richard leaves me humbled every time I watch one of his and Theresa's videos.
Approaching 20K Richard and Teresa! You'll be over 100K soon! Always great to see these videos and reminds me why I won't try this at home. LOL. I think I could do a transfer case, but not the 4L60E I have. THANKFULLY I finally found a good mechanic in my area that isn't trying to rip everybody off. He recommended a trans shop near me. Just gotta go down there and get a rough estimate.
Richard! I would put money or my life that if you had become a Dr, you would have saved thousands of lives.Your attention to detail your drive to be the best especially your desire to making (people) transmissions the best……
Wtf I didn't know you guys started a new channel after the problems with the other one I'll leave it at that. Good to see you back I love your videos now I have a backlog of videos to watch. PLEASE OPEN MULTIPLE DOORS my best friend almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning while working on his truck in the garage because he only cracked his garage door open because of cold weather luckily he was on the phone and the person on the other end noticed and called 911 and he was a mechanic at the time I was very upset with him he knew better.
That snap ring thing is a spiro-lock . They used to be used for wrist pins on racing style pistons . Not sure if they still use them . As for the guys that built that trans ?... I used to say (and still do actually), some guys should never be left alone with tools . lol Another great video Richard and Teresa . :)
They still use spirolocks, circlips, snap rings but since i bought my first set with buttons i will never go back to any that uses any other wrist pin retention other than buttons unless its for a daily driver
Why do they even attempt to upgrade a transmission when they don't know what there doing? Like Dirty Harry said "A man got to know his limitations". Great video as usual 👍👍👍
Every builder is different. There are a number of ways to do things in a trans. The only way to get good is to do the work and test the combos. A guy that rebuilds for dailies is going to do things differently than a guy that builds for the strip. Clutch pack clearance is a good example I can think of. On a strip application, a little lose is going to have less drag, but wear faster. Tight would have more drag but mile out better. Keep in mind when dealing with performance, non stock applications, there is very little info out there, and the guys that have it are drying up fast. Thankfully, we get to see a master of his craft explain his thoughts and experience.
ture enjoy the videos and the knowledge you share with us all and you both are awesome folks I just purchased a coffee cup and shirt from your online store. i
what a master ...does he move parts aroud to make it more challenging....just kiddin i ve learned again .. hes mind blowing how easy he make it appears ..appreciate yall
Enjoyed it! Theresa " kickin' and a gougin "... adds a flair that's too funny! Definitely recognize your expertise in the TRANS troubleshooting and building arena my friend... KUDO'S to you Richard for a job well done and tips to get it right... !!! Respectfully, Seth
While cleanliness isn't a guarantee of professional work, it's an indicator. Would you ever accept getting an IV started or blood drawn my medical staff without their hands being washed and the site disinfected? Unlike the immaculately professional Richard, there are too many grease monkeys out there. Well done as always Richard. Right as Richard wiped the camera, a dish detergent commercial came on for Platinum plus. From this (dirty) to this (clean).
It take a smart man to remember how one goes back right after taking it apart. Thats where I would have a hard time lol that’s why I take my trans issues to my cousin he works at a professional transmission shop and that’s all he’s ever done.
I have done many C4 C6 th350s and glides and was thinking about building me a 4L80 too but after seeing Richard tear this one apart…..im going to buy one complete lol
You need a exhaust vac system and have tail pipe hose for each bay, but you have to turn it on and the vac machine needs to be outside or on roof so it stays quite and may save some bodies life .
I’m so glad I found you guys. I lost track when Trent changed everything. I hope you’ve been able to rekindle your relationship with him. Are you in a new place?
Love the videos, guys!! I know you guys usually do the standard GM and Ford-oriented transmiasions, but i wanted to see if you have and experience with the Aisin units. Specifically the Aw55-50SN. I have a 3-4 shift that hangs, revs, and then catches 4th.
Richard get a carbon monoxide alarm. I have 1 in the shop I work in n we run vehicles. Once it turns on n starts beeping we stop on get out or open more doors till it goes off.
Wow, they seem so complex inside and seems like only a pro could know what to do for rebuild properly. I myself put together a th 350 and th 400 in the past but they were still working when I took them apart. I have a 4L80E in a 1999 chevy trailblazer 141,000 miles and I think I might buy a new remanufactured unit when I need one. After watching this video I sure know what goes bad and what is done, especially that tig welding thing you mentioned. I think a remanufactured unit through O'Reilly's Auto Parts is tagged at over $1800, apart from the $2300 engine I am bout to throw in due to a spun rod bearing.
So his commentary on the disassemble is awesome. Does he ever do re-assembly videos? Not because I want to know how to re-assemble but because I would imagine those would be neat too.
Sorry for your customer that so much damage was found, but after you get finished at least he can count on it! If it was mine at this point I think I might see if you had a case for it. Seems a shame to have all the internals so good and have that chip out of the case. Assume a lot of debris could get in through that opening.
