I don't know why I watched this I'll never ever rebuild an automatic transmission it's very interesting to me every transmission is so different and you know every single part of each one.
I’m so glad I found your new RU-vid channel looks like a lot has happened over a year ago or so. I’m glad you are still sharing videos. I have a new RU-vid account that my name has changed. My old account name was Eddie Patterson so now I go by my birth name which is Horace Patterson from Silverstreet South Carolina.
Richard, if I'm rebuilding a trans for me or a friend, it always looks like I dumped my tool box around it. You always have just a few tools to work on them, you're awesome!
Wonderful video. More parts, springs and plates are packed into the housings than you can imagine. And just when you think Richard has it all apart, he pops another snap ring parts fly.....Keep up the good work. Looking forward to next video!!!!😮🎉😂😮
Awesome to hear your voice again Richard! Was so sad trying to find out what happened to the other channel. So so so happy to get my transmission fix through your knowledge again. Hope you are well!!
Love the vids, glad I found the new channel. Have you ever considered doing a build video. Would love to see all those new shiney parts you always show be installed. Also need to tear down a 6r80. Yes I'm a Ford guy.
That's the difference between a mechanic who keeps himself current with training classes and so forth vs. the one who just keeps limited knowledge and believing he knows a lot.
What I wish is I could find out where his shop is located? If I recall correctly it’s in Houston Texas I don’t know but I think that’s where he said or somebody said anyway I would love to send a transmission down to him and have him do it because I know he would do a good job Absolutely is a man with good integrity. Thank you sir. Oh by the way for your wife for holding the camera. OK you folks have a good day. This is six in a row.Jim from Kennerdell pa.
You know sonnax makes that piece that has the governor tubes go thru? It's a really sweet piece. Has more lube jackets n bigger holes already. Nice piece. Check it out
Knowing you by watching literally every video from this channel and the other I know once you get it once you will never use the stock 1 again. You will say it's a must. Goes in every 1 we do now.
Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy them. Have built Allison transmissions before I retired at the bus company in Saint Louis. Keep up your good work.
@richardteresacricheducatio3542 Well. I didn't consider that. Here in SE Texas, we don't have much of that. In that case, I would have had Teresa pressure wash it! 🤣🤣 Great videos.
Hi Richard, glad you finally did a video on a 47re. I believe you had one on your old channel but i couldnt find it. I have a 2000 ram 2500 diesel and i was thinking about rebuilding it myself (rethinking now that ive seen this video lol) and have a solid answer on the gas vs diesel thing. Now that i know they have different parts, can a gasser be rebuilt for a diesel? I ask because its much easier to find a gasser than a diesel 47 and it would be much more convenient to rebuild one on the side then swap it in. Thank you
cool, looks like the other guy did a pretty decent job and the transmission essentially outlived the vehicle, even if there were a few things that could have been improved further.
Hi Richard, I just found your new channel and subbed. I have been casually watching your videos for a couple of years now after my tranny failed on a cross country trip. Now two years and two salvage trannys later I've decided to rebuild my own transmission and boy oh boy it can be quite overwhelming. Can you make the end all be all step by step video on putting together a daily driver 4L60e, including the Transgo SK4L60E? Most videos out there are either lower quality, drawn out, or don't really encompass the whole enchilada, like why does the 4th accumulator needs to be blocked, what happens when the accumulator springs are broken, do we need to replace the torque converter as a preventative measure while we're there if it's been more than a couple hundred thousand miles, etc. Times are tough and we need a guiding light 🫡 Cheers PS: Please get one of those rode microphones all them content creators use. Your knowledge is worthy of archival and the quality of your content should match it
I've never figured why Richard prefers to work on a trans with mud all over it than p washed. I get the fact that he hates water in them but they go in the wash machine anyway. And it's hard to show wear on parts if they are full of dirt.
"Neoprene"...It might help some of us viewers to know a little more about the trans shift kits. I have heard TransGo is the likely choice but then over the years they have a Jr. kit, reprograming kit etc. with some transmissions having a choice from three different kits. As in this 47RE review, just how many upgrades come with a Jr. kit and is it worth purchasing the larger kit vs. the Jr. kit? I know that would depend on the intended uses of the transmission so lets keep the subject on a reliable, firm shifting vehicle that will tow maybe 1/3 rd of the time. Also, on the trans kits from TransStar, do they include the "Selective shims, washers, etc." or do you have to have those on hand?
for the pin in the overdrive housing.......you say the diesel is larger and the gas is smaller.....which one does the V10 get? since the V10 was meant to be a gas alternative to the diesel.
I have a 4l60 and it’s starting to slip so my question is how can you tell if a transmission shop is a reliable quality shop what are things to look for
I always have been lost with automatic transmission😢 and never could find a good transmission shop to repair one. Your business is still called Precision Transmission ?
my buddy has a 07 3500 cummins 4x4 with a 48re trans,it has a problem staying in 3rd gear at around 33mph,his rebuilder said it needs a spacer,or washer/shim somewhere in the valve body to fix it?,have you heard of this?, also i have a tool that reams out the governor housing on a 350 and 400 trans so you can install a bushing to save a bad case, would it be of any use to you?
I have been watching for a long time, including precise transmission YT. I realized there are TWO voices in the video. I watched the captions, but they did not show who the voice was. I would like for you to add [R] and [T] to show who the voice is in the captions so that I will know who is speaking in the video. WHY? I am Deaf! Smile.
What is the best place to install a pressure sensor on the 42, 44, 46, 47, 48 series transmissions if you want to put in a pressure gauge? Also... what makes the Sonax pressure regulator valve superior to the Transgo?
@@richardteresacricheducatio3542 thanks for the response! What about the Sonnax pressure regulator valve for the dodge transmissions? What makes it better than the Transgo?
I like the lube circuit they added in the valve to me. It maintains better, low line pressure over the Transco, at low idle speeds. When the transmission is severely hot.
No sir just depending on what’s available right at the moment been using trans specialty for 20 years or longer both companies have quality parts just in different areas
