Good talk with you last night man, lots of good info and helped me alot man! Glad to see you did most if it yourself. Definetly gives me the confidence to do it myself.
The project is coming along very nicely. Super excited to see it progress through your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and the experience in building this beauty!
glad you are almost done! I turned my coolant tank into the vw mk4 coolant ball and put it in the rain tray. Ran the line down n along the rack, turned 90 where the PS hose connects. Keeps it away from all the heat on that hot side.
awesome build. Im in the middle of my mk3 gti vrt 4motion (awd) project myself. l love seeing other vr6 turbo builds. Im also using a EMU Black. Definitely a awesome for the money. FYI you can turn off cam sink and just set the coils in wasted spark mode just like stock. This way you can run the engine without the cam sensor for testing.
Good work man. Loving the VR content. They always had a soft spot in my heart. Ive built a couple of monsters but always for other people from 600hp12vs to 1400hp R36. What camera do You use for filming?
One of the best quality videos I’ve seen in a long time… also is that thing RWD?! ALSOOOO what is the update on this thing you haven’t posted in 5 months? This definitely has sparked some inspiration for my mk4 and now I need more!!!
I must say you have very very great videos and content. I am actually interested in doing this my self. I have a b7 a4. Is there a way to contact you? I have some questions about the swap. I know the b5 is very similar so I am interested in what you had to do to make this happen.
In terms of cost, would you say what you have invested in the vrt swap is more budget friendly than building the 2.7? I’ve read a number of things in the forums and vr6 guys and 2.7 guys bicker back and forth about why you should choose X over Y.
In my personal opinion my 2.7tt is bad ass but you do need $$ to prevent headaches i knew what i was getting into and now i am fully built tial 770r and is bad ass. Good luck on what ever you decide
Honestly a well setup Stage 3 2.7t and an equally well built vr6 will net you a similar amount of money for parts. the VR6 does end up being a bit more expensive because of the fact you’re putting an engine that was never in this chasis in it, and having to buy mount brackets, adapters and pans to fit it adds to the cost. The biggest difference between the two is the expected robustness/ durability of the VR6 vs the 2.7t as well as the space gained by going vr. It also looks dope lol.
How did you hook the external wastegate line to the turbo? I noticed that the turbo didn't come with a port for the external wastegate...did you use the speed sensor port?
looking at your video it around @6:30, it looks like you tapped a hole for the external wastegate port. Hmmm...i saw another video where they also used this same turbo but they used the speed sensor port for the external wastegate line.
I felt the speed sensor port was not going to produce a reliable boost reference. Since it sits so close to the inlet near the compressor wheel before any of the charge air is compressed
@@CIPGAS Thanks very much. BTW, i forgot to ask what's your plug gapping set at? Cause you used the same Precision 5858 turbo before and wanted to know what was your spark plug gaps during that time? Mine is set at .022 but i was thinking of going 0.026...Thanks.
"ecu master" is a slow calculator that can't do anything to tune a turbo engine...not to mention a naturally aspirated engine!!! Hide and disgrace yourself with this piece of shit!
