I honestly dont find it annoying to push a button or swipe to turn on the backlight most of the time. I primarily work outside or in houses, occasionally there isnt enough light reflecting off the face to read it but a huge majority of time i can read it without using the backlight at all. Ive found the battery lasts much longer that way. I work in the trades so im always using my hands and the gesture caused the backlight to come on when i wasnt doing the full gesture and often times wouldnt work when I wanted it to. Go figure.

Any ideas how to get the heart rate monitor working again as it seems to have just stopped working for no reason ?

I’m sorry, I’m not sure. Either try doing a factory rest, and if that’s doesn’t fix it, time to contact Garmin 👍
