I love the idea of going hands free wirelessly for CarPlay, but spending $220 for the lite version is a little rich for my blood. I’ll go through the minor trouble of plugging it in for now. Thanks for the informative video and the discount code for those who are interested in purchasing one.
May 2 3 rd 2023 I have watched many of your videos. I find them informative and entertaining. I have a 2023 jeep wrangler Sahara jl unlimited. This is my fifth jeep. I live in las Vegas NV where there are countless opportunities for off roading. I wonder why you are selling you Jeep and have bought a Honda pilot?
Hey Joe, Thank you very much for the feedback on the channel. I’m glad you find the videos helpful. I explained in general why I sold the Jeep in the following video link. Why I Sold My Jeep, and What It Means for You and the Channel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ts71M5ibA2U.html The corrosion issue was bothering me quite a bit. I look after my things and the thought of looking at the paint bubbling off bothered me, especially after I spent so much money buying it brand new. So it made sense to move it now while I still could get a decent amount of money for it. And I explained that in the following video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--G5UlLmdLG4.html Once again I thank you very much for the feedback on the channel and feel free to post any other questions you may have. Cheers
I just found your youtube channel. I love these devices. I agree with the post below. These boxes are extremely expensive. I bought the tazer, expensive, but that gave me features that I use daily.
I’ve had one of these devices. Lasted a year and was buggy at best. It also lags a bit but does work. I’m back to the cable connection and it just works so much better. I would say buyer beware. They are all glitchy and you will sometimes need to unplug and plug back in when it’s not working. Using the lightening cable and plug it in has always worked flawlessly
@@CheaperJeeperTV it was a different kind of dongle for wireless CarPlay. Since the cable charges it and is much more stable. I just prefer to connect it when needed. I do love the wireless option. But just not convinced to spend this amount of money on another one that may also be glitchy like the others on the market
I have the carlinkit and it works pretty well but I feel like the heat has been bothering it. This looks really cool but a lot of the reviews complain about connection issues for the android OS part. That was my fear, I didn't want to constantly be making sure my phone's hotspot was on and the unit was connected to it's wifi, then wireless carplay kills wifi connections so you can't switch back and forth and I cannot handle another cellular plan which is probably what makes this thing work the best. Promising but we're not ready for it yet.
I was excited about this unit after watching your video. Worked well for maybe 15 mins then the audio got really choppy and the interface nearly unresponsive in android auto. Now it constantly disconnects and reconnects. I have tried multiple cables. Clearing Android Auto data and cache. Tried using Uconnect Bluetooth connection for the audio instead. This was a garbage buy.
Hey Joe, Wow. Sorry to hear it isn’t working well on your Android device. Let me know if their customer service helps you trouble shoot for a satisfactory resolution. Keep me posted. Thanks for the heads up.
@@CheaperJeeperTV support never responded to me. But I got it working again last night, not exactly sure for how and not sure how long it will stay working. What I did was go into settings/apps on the car play android os and started clearing the cache and data on apps that I thought could be relevant to functionality of android auto. I cleared the data for BT Phone, auto-Tkit, google play services and the last one was something like carbitlink. It suddenly started connected while i was clearing those so not sure which one it was. If it stops working again I'll update.
Thanks for the video. Did you notice that the icon went back from "Jeep" to "Car"? It must've lost the setting you did before you shut it off. I wonder if it would work with a JK with the navigation.
Hey Mark, Actually, I had to use video footage that I recorded earlier, before I switched the icon label to “Jeep”. So more of an editing issue. The unit only works on vehicles that come with wired car play. I don’t believe the Jk came with that. Cheers
1)Love this device - really missing CarPlay, and on sale for $186 right now. 2)The music during your video though - way too loud. 3)Viewer tip spot on!
Thank you Dino. I’m guessing this would work with any app that is on your phone? Would the lite work the same,or would you loose a lot of options. Do you have to get a SIM card?
Hey Johnny, you don’t need a Sim card if you tether from your phone. If you get the light model you won’t have as much space to store apps. I’m not sure that all apps will work.
@@CheaperJeeperTV I guess I’m just a little confused. I like how you set yours up. I have a 2022 gladiator. I hate wires everywhere, like when I need to use Waze,l need to tether the phone.
In general, all of the aftermarket CarPlay wireless adapters tend to have their own set of issues. However, it's worth noting that Jeep is introducing factory wireless CarPlay in their 2024 models, which is a positive development. Another observation: the USB-A port located in the center console appears to be less reliable than the UCS-C or USB-A ports situated under the UConnect system. In my case, the wireless adapter I was using wasn't functioning properly, requiring me to unplug and plug it back in almost daily. Moreover, it would inexplicably disconnect at times. Once I switched and connected it to the USB-C port under the UConnect system, the adapter worked seamlessly without any problems. As a suggestion, I strongly advise against connecting your phone to the car's Bluetooth system if you already have a CarPlay wireless adapter. Instead, it's better to connect the Bluetooth to the adapter itself, rather than the car's UConnect system.
I use a Cplay2air unit. Are you having intermittent connection/ disconnect issues or freezing with that system? I find the wireless unit to be somewhat unstable.
Hey there, great video !! I am actually doing this through a jailbroken iphone with carbridge, an app that 'mirrors' the iphone so you can run any ap on the Jeep's display, which in my case is a Stinger Height10 ... You said you can download apps... can you download Gaia GPS for example ? any app that is on the appstore ? its the box's OS that adds those ? as I see that its the normal carplay that runs once connected... I have a new phone wont be jaiblroken so this would work great for me !!! Thanks from Montreal !
Not totally related to this but I miss not having a 30gb hard drive in my stereo to store all my music. I prefer not to keep music on my phone so I now keep it on a jump drive which always stays connected to the USB in the console. It’s like having 32GB of music at your fingertips …
