PLEASE do Audrey Hepburn in the outfit she wore to the embassy ball in My Fair Lady!!! That gorgeous dress with all the jewel and bead work and the Marie Antoinette-esque updo would look AMAZING with a Silkstone Barbie head. Might I suggest using a Model Muse body for it? The positioning of the hand at her waist with the other arm extended fits the character of Eliza Doolittle very well.

We’ve talked before about Marilyn, my uncle being the hair dresser who changed her hair color. Since I’m 70 years old, this is particularly fun because I had that first Barbie when I was a girl. What fun!!! You made her perfectly, as usual. ❤️❤️❤️

A suggestion that may make doing shorter, full hairstyles a little easier… I’m a knitter and spinner, and work with natural fibers a lot. Alpaca has no crimp to the fibers, which gives it its lustrous drape, but that also means it has very little memory, and doesn’t like to hold a shape. You might try Cormo, Merino, or Rambouillet wool. It’s very fine like alpaca, but has some crimp to the fiber, and some memory: in other words It will hold a curl, likes to stay where you put it, and has some body to it. I’ve used Merino locks as hair for a needle felted fairy a time or two, and thought they’d work for dolls, too. Beautiful Marylin!! The dress is perfect. Thank you for sharing her! Love, light, and blessings to you and yours.

If you don’t end up with paint in your hair, you’re doing it wrong lol, love the unicorn eyeshadow 😍 Silkstone Barbie’s are so unique, their upper eyelids, the bulging foreheads, if I got one I’d put the head on a made to move body I think. I can’t think of a single other doll artist that has pencils sharp enough to draw their eyes, the gift of the doll went to the right artist!!! She’s perfect, I’m glad you’re keeping her ❤️

I commented this last video but I'll comment again. What if you customize two of the werecat dolls from monster high (Toralei, Purrsephone, Catrine DeMew, Meowlody, or Catty Noir), and customize them to look like your cats in real life! It would also be a fun challenge to imagine what your cats would be like as humans, what kind of clothes they would wear etc

I just reached the part where you are starting to warm her head to remove it and it reminded me. I had one of these from I think Christmas 1960 (dark hair since I have dark hair, navy and white swimsuit). Anyway a few years later we were having some very hot weather and it was so hot in our house (in Los Angeles) that I bent those legs as if they were jointed. Never got them properly straight again but she sat down much better.

Well done my dear. As I remember, the very early Barbie heads were quite a rigid material so their faces could be mass produced without squishing! The best part about the very early ones were the hands, I think. Very quickly Barbie clothes became the most lucrative part of the market, which led to the hands and particularly the thumbs pointing out, leading to more ripped clothes as little hands tried to navigate the sleeves, leading to more clothes bought!

I had this one (original) along with bubble top Barbie, Midge, Francie and Skipper. The one you have us only made for show, not play. The real ones had full heads of hair you could take down and style too. Well, except for the Ken dolls. They had either painted on "hair " or paint and flocking since the buzz cut was the way "clean" young men would have their hair, back then. Barbie and Ken were named after the designer, Ruth Handler's son and daughter and originally were to be anatomically correct! 😱 That was pretty progressive thinking for mid-fifties America! LOL! I was like noooo, you're going to blush the body.

This was one of my absolute favourites. I literally gasped at how stunning it turned out in the end. Please continue to do more vintage Barbie makeovers 🙌💜

✨Beautiful work as always! The early Barbie was reminiscent of a lot of the stars of the time, from Betty Grable to Doris Day, so it’d be fun to make tributes to them too. Btw the original Barbie’s style was influenced by stars of the time, the head sculpt and body shape were actually only slightly altered from the German Bild Lilli doll that originally inspired Ruth Handler to make the first adult fashion doll for children. Bild Lilli was based on a sexy comic strip character named Lilli, so the original Barbie face actually predates The Seven Year Itch and most of Marilyn’s career. Though I’m sure Reinhard Beuthien was at least partly inspired by Hollywood starlets for his original Lilli character drawings too!✨

I really enjoyed this transformation. Especially since I have made this dress for a plush felt doll I made. It is such an iconic look! The dress turned out amazing.
