We tune up and turn up the Lightning today. I replace the mass air flow, 4 lb pulley and supercharger belt as well as install a tune from Johnny Lightning Performance. Happy to say it ran great, no codes!
Finally got around to getting rid of that crappy factory lower cage but man i about knocked myself out when that thing let go finally haha i wasnt expecting that much kick jeez i have a 1/2 breaker with both my floor jack handles pulling that s.o.b. and it left me with a goose egg on my noggin lol
Fun trucks. Got some videos of mine getting after it too. I have the 6# lower along with single blade tb and a few other things. Blew my lower two years ago. Gotta get a good deal on a block and crank then ill build it back up
My favorite truck of all time, or you can give it to me and I'll build lol jk get that thing fixed aren't making them like the use too. Thanks for watching
@@builtmikesway1167 my town just got one for our department. Definitely not the same. 😂 Electric garbage. I'm hoping to get my truck back together this year. I miss it so much.
Nice! 4 lb pulley is always the way to go on these and you didn't really need to replace the MAF for a 4lb pulley, but I'm guessing you will probably be adding more boost later on. Is that an older SCT tuner? I don't recognize that one. I have the SCTx4 on mine.
Thanks I really appreciate you comments. Yes more power later. I had got a good deal on the programmer, probably will update later. Post some pics of your truck or send me a link. Thanks for checking my video out. Have a great weekend
Have you cleaned your intercooler, changed your spark plugs, changed all fluids, verified your intercooler pump works, and took care of any leaks? I would start with the basics first before adding any boost.
100% agree with @3500camarz most of these truck have some miles on them now and some owners didn't know the basic things for these trucks. Cleaning the intercooler may give you free hp depending how dirty they are. The pump is also a big deal. Check the plugs(use a torque wrench to spec. You don't have to replace them if its running good. When that's all good and you want more. I prefer pulley 4lb unless the more is built. You'll need new plugs then. Your truck will be on the next level. Thanks for asking and watching. Have a awesome day.
Surely that pulley is making more than just 4psi of boost? You'll have to excuse my ignorance on this, but I rarely see pulleys referred to by psi numbers. Usually just by their actual size dimensionally. Unless that was meant to add an additional 4psi roughly to what it was making before? How much boost are you making?
It makes 12-13 of boost, yes it additional. Old school blowers like the 8/71 pulleys are by actually size. Good question, hope this helps. Have a awesome day
@@builtmikesway1167 I run an gen 3 Eaton M90 on my build. Stock they came with a 3.8" pulley. I'm currently running a 3.5" pulley. Been kicking around the idea of adding water methanol injection and dropping pulley size and adding timing to the moon lol. Love the truck man. Keep adding and tuning
Yes that's right, I'll probably install a pulley bridge form JC Custom to fix that. It probably makes 1 more lb of boost if it didn't. It's a normal problem with these trucks. Thanks for watching again. Have a great holiday weekend
@@builtmikesway1167Yeah it’s crazy because my 01 L has belt squeal even with a new belt and on stock boost. It was getting real bad on the old belt. But yeah, I have an auxiliary idle bracket ordered with (2) 100mm pulleys and hoping that does the trick
What hand held tuner are you using? I plan on taking my lightning to a shop and have them tune it it has new motor with forged bottom end bored .020 over 6lb lower and jlp intake sct maf. Hahaha never mind just seen in video it’s sct
Haha you guys and giving me a hard time about my SCT BDX. I had it so I thought I'd use it, kinda old now days. Just hit up JLP and have him send you a tune. They ask ALOT of questions to make sure it right
