Man, imagine if Turok got the Doom treatment with a kickass revival

I honestly loved this game. The splitscreen, the cheat codes to become a raptor, the jump pads, the black hole grenade thing, the button on splitscreen map that made the Raptors come out and the ladders disappear. It's honestly one of my childhood favorites that my brothers and I sunk countless hours into. Wish they would recreate and revitalize this franchise. Nothing but nostalgia for me.

Turok Evolution was actually my first introduction to the series. I played it a ton and enjoyed it as the stupid kid I was. I feel like it's prime material for a re-make.

At this point Acclaim was in full self-destruct mode and determined to take everyone they could with them. Iguana didn't stand a chance.

Okay yeah the game wasn't great, but the pistol that snaps into a sniper rifle is still one of my favorite fps weapons ever.

Besides the flying levels I remember having fun with Turok Evolution.

I had Turok: Evolution as a kid, and even back then I knew it had issues but I still liked it. It set me up with a love for Lost Land type settings where there is a strange mix of primitive and futuristic, magic and technology. I've even used Turok for a DnD setting, which worked out great! Something the video didn't go over was how the whole series was rooted in an adventure pulp comic from the 50's about two native american boys who get lost in a hidden valley where dinosaurs never died out. The Escape from Lost Valley game is based off the original comic, which is why it's so different than what people got used to.

Jesus Christ, that Planet Gamecube page was the most 2004 thing I've ever seen.

I had my mom get me this game when I was obsessed with dinosaurs as a kid. The gore was just gravy😍😍😍

seems a theme in a lot of these videos is company: "We're failing, we need a guaranteed hit or we're going to go under!" The company then proceeds to give an inexperienced team not enough time or resources to make such a game, it turns out bad, and the company goes under.

I remember back when I was little and my dad got this game for himself (which I, of course, would play whenever he wasn't) I thought this was the greatest thing ever. Of course, after that point, I would go on to play the N64 games, as well as actual shooters, like Call of Duty 1-3 and Medal of Honor. As bad as the game objectively is, it's hard for me to deny I've got a touch of nostalgia for it.

This game was so poorly recieved, Electronic Gaming Monthly referenced it in their annual Tobias Bruckner Memorial Awards .

Looking at Acclaim's history, it's incredible the company didn't belly-up much sooner, what with their baffling marketing stunts and incompetence in general.

Me: "Holy crap Turok evolution talk about nostalgia. I still have that game" Sees What Happon tag.... Me: "Impossible!!!"

And to this day I'm imagining ID software would pick up the rights and make a Turok sequel picking up after shadow of Oblivion. Man can dream.

This was my first Turok game. Had a lot fun with the local multiplayer. The flechette gun that turned into the minigun and the pistol that turned into the sniper was sick.

The GBA Turok Evolution was actually a decent side scrolling shooter.

It's a shame because that game had so much potential and so many cool weapon types. Looking back on it, it was still light years better than the next Turok game.

Maybe one day you could cover the forgettable Turok 2008, it would probably be an interesting Wha Happun cause the early HD era was a nightmare for all developers.

I thought Evolution was a MIND BLOWING, incredibly good game... I loved it! Had a blast, played it several times, had a blast every time! the only first person shooters that impressed me as much as Turok Evolution did (at the time) were TimeSplitters 2 and Future Perfect...

Honestly Turok was my very first video game, so this just makes me feel incredible sad.

You can't just expect me to hear the D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die theme in the outro an NOT want to suggest that game for the next episode. It's still one of my sorest heartbreaks for an abandoned game, and I think it should get its time to shine on an episode.

what a shame. this game had so much cool stuff in it. one of the levels took place in a fortress on the back of a giant sauropod. the level is awfully designed and has an alarm constantly blaring, but the idea was awesome at least.

Suggestion for a What Happened: Xenogears. Put down those torches and pitchforks. The first disk is amazing, yes. Unfortunately, the second disk is just a step above a storyboard.

So much nostalgia. Despite its many flaws, I love that game. Transports me to my childhood like nothing else

FMNFB! Man, I'm happy to see this game pop up here. The music in the background was a wonderful little nostalgia kick. This was the only Turok game I ever played, and despite being janky and shallow for sure, I still have some good memories of my multiple playthroughs. Thank you, Matt!

This was actually my favorite game to play as a kid, second only to Halo 2 when it came out. I loved Turok: Evolution so much that I would make Minecraft recreations of the levels for my friends to check out back in 2012. While I haven't been able to play it in a while, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to emulate it, though I have lackluster equipment, so my luck hasn't been the best.

The Jurassic Park bit got a hearty chuckle out of me. Loved the video, great work as always

Man I remember me and my brother having club brawls on this game everyday after school

Turok: Evolution was mine and my dad’s favorite game. It was his first 3D video game and my first foray into brutal dismemberment. He loved it so much would even come in when I wasn’t around and ended up beating the single player campaign multiple times. Whenever we were together he and I bounced between the multiplayer mode and pass-and-play single player for *hours*. Sure the game was Acclaim’s own self-sacrificial trash fire, but it’s so incredibly special to me for all the memories with my dad.

Idc I love this game! It was my first game on my ps2 and as a kid who never had pc games and only had a SNES and PS1...it blew my mind!

This was my first fps game ever and a game that my dad and I played together a lot. I was so uses to evolutions style of gameplay that looking at the previous games made me uninterested in them thinking it just wasn't as good as evolution. I had fun with the multiplayer with friends and cheat codes. I remember looking at the back of the cover and seeing an enemy I still can not tell who it is the reticle was looking at. The disc was the best looking piece of art of the Tal'set in black and white. It's really sick look it up, the one on GameCube. idk what it looks like on others but I assume it's the same. I bought the turok remasters on switch but the nostalgia evolution still bugged me. This game means deeply to me and hearing anyone talk about turok makes me smile c: Maybe one day a new turok game will come out that sees the vision of evolution. Hell a doom style revival would be sick or nightwolf having a Tal'set skin in mk11 as a reference to acclaim publishing both MK and turok will would be sick.

I was a little boy when I played Turok 2, would eventually get the first one as well. I have so many fond memories of playing it and showing it off to friends.

Thanks for making this video! I always wondered why I loved Turok 1+2, but hated Turok Evolution as a kid!

Turok Evolution was the first Turok game that I was introduced to when i was around 11 years old on the PS2. Despite all the negative talks about the game, I had fun. Along with my brothers, we would get up early in the morning on the weekends just to play this game, blasting through every dino mutants we see. We always get so hyped to find out that all the weapons had secondary fire modes, especially the one where the weapon turns into a triple barreled gatling gun. We'll also try to one up each other during the flight levels to see who can fly through the canyons without crashing. We didn't care why the dinos can shoot back. We didn't care if the big baddie is some plain old guy. All we had was plain fun blasting through each levels and replaying them. Our little brother who was just around 7 years old would also want to join in but since it is a little too violent, we always went to the codes area and typed "zoo", which teleports us to an area where they hold all the creatures in the game like a zoo. He would love to always jump into the enclosures and look at the dinosaurs and animals up close. Luckily he didn't know how to switch the weapons or attack yet or he'll be traumatised. All in all, we had fun. This game brought back memories of staying up late and enjoying a fun day plaing video games with my brothers. Was smiling the whole time just watching the gameplay footage again.

I really enjoyed this game. making enemies puke to death with poison arrows and especially that multiplayer map with the raptors below the tree forts.

I remember being so hyped for this. I then read a review in CUBE magazine that said it was pretty poor. Ended up getting Timesplitters 2 instead. That was the right decision.

I'd like to hear what happened behind the scenes with Metroid: Other M. The little snippeds I've read around the net make it seem like it might be a Tommy Wiseau/Devil's Third-esque scenario of a specific self-professed Auteur creator getting lost in the sauce of their own flawless-to-them vision, but I'd like to hear some of the facts behind that.

This was actually the only Turok game I've played. I liked it.

I remember Turok scaring my brother and I when we were younger. Especially that multiplayer map where it's like a suspended jungle fort and if you fell down raptors would hunt you lol.

I never understood how this was so bad. I had played the others, they were great. There was so much to build on. So much wasted. Then we get the turok on 360 and.... we dont talk about that one. On a side note, chefs luv shack is probably one of the most fun party games you could possibly find, ever.

Yeah the fact the franchise went to disney is still so weird. I'm surprised they they didn't try to make a turok movie in the vein of pirates or something

funny seeing this video considering i remember loving this game as a kid but probably cause id never played a Turok game before and i was beyond fascinated with that one weapon that auto aimed and sliced enemies into pieces :D

I would love to see Turok make a return. It's got to be one of the most unique IPs by a longshot, from the game series to its origins in comic books. With old franchises like Doom getting brought back to the game industry forefront, why not give the Dinosaur Hunter another chance?

This is late, but I'd recommend doing a video on Dino Crisis 3. It's so mishandled and all over the place, that it's hard to believe it's a Dino Crisis title. It even killed the franchise, which is really sad cause the first two games were great That or the Atari Jaguar. I wanna know how that mess came to be

The context of expectation management can make such a difference. My first Turok game ever was Evolution and I actually absolutely loved it. My main motivation was anything that has dinosaurs, I'm in for it. And so I was pretty fine with what I got. Then later came Turok 2008, and it was different but I once again jumped in without expectations and I loved it so much.
