Thanks for the feed back and the pin, it's getting increasingly difficult these days to find an affordable headset that offers the basic features like separate volume and instead we get a bunch of flashy features that aren't real

I agree with you on the fact that the 500p are way lighter than the golds which can relieve your neck. Also, I did not have the golds long enough for them to receive the hairline cracks you speak of up I do believe this to be the case since a majority of the people in the comment section have gone through them breaking. AnthonyKings I am looking for a new headset I actually it had the Sony Gold's for the last 5 years and I actually like him a lot but I'm looking at either getting another pair Sony Golds today has my light blue PlayStation or get do Turtle Beach 520 stealth and I was wondering what your comment will be on that because I'm kind of leaning more towards the Turtle Beach stealth

I apologize for the late reply, If i had to pick one for shooting games I would have to go with the turtle beach headset. This is just my personal experience but once you play with the settings in game a bit, the directional audio was perfect on my stealth 500p

Hey there! The 500p can't record your voice but the Elgato can. Other headsets won't allow audio to be recorded without a ton of wires, but since the 500p use optical support you don't need any cables :)

Ehhh well technically yes and no, I use a separate mic to record my voice and use audacity to do that so it sounds a little more professional. I'm sorry I think I explained that a little incorrectly, the Elgato can't record your voice with the 500p because you'll be using them for the ps4 but with the 500p you can record any party chat without having to buy cables. Now of course if you want to live stream using the Elgato then you technically should be able to use the 500p to broadcast your voice as you play but I've never tried that. Hope this helps !

Thanks man I appreciate that!! I prefer the 500p (only because I got them for the same price as the 400p lol) other than that they literally are the same exact headset. Both function the same with my capture card with the only difference being the "virtual surround sound" in the 500p.

I completely agree with you. I made this video months before the slim was announced and was super disappointed. I did som research into the issue and found that the headsets will work on the slim ps4 but you wont be able to use all of the features because they removed the optical support. Either way Im sorry to hear about that hope the golds work out for you!

Funny that you ask because both of these headsets are complete wireless, neither of them require you to connect them to your controller. You can if you so choose but both mic and audio work wirelessly. As for which one I recommend, I stick with what I said in the video. It all depends, Golds are more comfortable but the 500p are a little better quality. Hope this helps.

I believe its for better audio, there's no harm in hooking it up so you should do that but to be honest I dont think its vital (unless you're using an Elgato to record gameplay)

Thanks! If I had to pick which headset has better directional audio id say the 500p (or the new 520p that came out) but ive also heard that you can program the golds for certain games so idk. Do a little more research on both :)

No at all, they sounds great they last long, my only complain is that are a bit uncomfortable and the driver is close so it may touch your ears. As a sounds there is no match. Regards

Both are not the most robust headset on the market, actually I did break my first pair of 500P, but they sounds great so I did buy another one

You know that's a really good question, it never occurred to me to test which one is louder. I'll ask my friend to let me borrow his Sony golds so I can test them and try to get back to you on that. And if I don't get back to you that means I wasn't able to get my hands on the golds.

I see, the issue with these two mics is that they are pretty close to identical. Some will say one is better than the other and but I never noticed any significant differences. Now for mic levels, To be fair I don't think there is a mic that can alter what is heard based on noise frequency and if there is, I'm sure it will cost a pretty penny. If I may make a recommendation, I say do one of these two things. get a headset with a detachable mic, remove the mic, then plug a USB mic such as the Blue Snowball to your console (with a pop filter), and your audio quality will be amazing. OR go to PS4 Home>Settings>devices> Audio devices/Settings> Adjust microphone levels, then listen to yourself until you find the volume control you like. Hope this helps!

+PayneintheKass I think not yelling would be the only way to not break other peoples ears lol, even if the mic is clear.... screaming into it will still result with hurt ears xD -I have had both and the Turtle beach is clearer, when myself and 3 buddies had the golds everyone would say "you sound like you are in a tunnel or something" because they would have a muffled sound. The 500ps actually have a rather good mic (currently using the 500p and my gold are collecting dust) -I got the 500p like 2 weeks ago and the sound and mic is way better overall, plus 3 of the 4 gold headsets my buddies and I got cracked down the middle or broke in half completely a few months after having them with only medium use. -Honestly can't say go get the Gold they are cheap plastic/muffled mic with decent speakers and 7.1 but the 500p for it's price seems better built with a better mic. -I don't use my ps4 often because my PC and PC headset are 100xs better but from my experience the 500p is better compared to the current gold (not sure if it will be better then the "platinum" version coming out)

I never said I was Yelling. Maybe not be an asshole and assume I'm yelling either. As I said, I'm a loud person, so even just going one octave higher when I panic seems to do the trick on my mic, even when it's slightly away from my mouth. Even me going a few octaves lower, which actually hurts my vocal chords over time because my voice isn't used to it and causes strain on my voice when I do that, doesn't help. So thanks for your unwelcomely rude input.

It is personal preference, that's why you will here some say they suck and others say they are amazing. Personally the sound quality between the two are practically the same but the 500p have deeper presets which can alter how you hear the game (example: bass boost, natural sound, vocal boost..etc.) thus giving a bit better of an experience. I like the 500p more but everyone is different, hope this helps :)

Both Sony gold and the 500p have the surround sound built into the headset so they are completely wireless, the 500p use an optical cable for a bit better sound and that cable plugs into the back of the ps4 and into the USB dongle. Hope this answers your question :)

Thank you for your opinion, I think you are spot on. My friends Gold headsets just broke but it was nothing good ole ducktape couldnt fix and the 500p kill my ears over time. If only the 500p were as comfy as the golds :( Either way they are both great headsets.

A little confused by the question, are you asking if they work as normal headphones like for your iPhone? If that's what you're asking them yup all you have to do is plug in an aux cord into the headphones then into the phone and it'll work just fine. But if you're asking if you can use them on your system AND listen to music at the same time then that I don't know, I'd imagine you can't. +Philip Rivera I'm still not sure what you are asking :( If you use the USB dongle in your system you should be able to use the headset wirelessly (after you adjust the settings) or if you want you can use an aux cord to plug from the headset to the iPhone to listen to music.

Out of personal experience, I can tell you that the Gold headsets are heavier than the 500p. However, If you are just looking for a simple headset so they can chat and play their games I'd recommend the Tritan Kama Stereo headset, inexpensive, Perfect fit for smaller ears, and great to start off with. In this case yes, between this 2 the Turtle is more precise about positioning in a videogame

I dont know about superhuman hearing, but The stealth 500p (after playing around with the in-game audio settings) let me hear footsteps pretty good. I would freak out all the time because you can hear the steps through the walls but sometimes in the heat of the moment you'd have a hard time deciding which wall they are coming from lol so i will assume the 520 work the same way.

Well the 500p has a mic that can be detached at will, so you can play with it on or off (sometimes for my videos I play with it off so it won't get in the way and if it breaks I'm sure you can contact turtle beach for a replacement). However the Sony Golds have a built in mic so it cannot be removed. (Plus side is you don't had to worry about taking it off, bad side is if it somehow breaks it's an internal problem) I hope I understood and answered your question correctly :)

As for what the difference is between the two styles, I don't know. People have told me that Virtual means "simulated" and it can't compete with DTS but I wouldn't believe that without doing more research first. Hope this helps :)

+Tryhard _ Visiionz if you plan on getting an Elgato at some point for your RU-vid videos then I recommend the 500p to save you the time and trouble with recording chat audio. Otherwise either headset will work great for chatting.

I never tested the Sony gold headset on PC, however the stealth 500p do in fact work for PC. All you have to do is plug the USB into your computer and turn your headset on. It's super easy to use on PC.

Mmm like to use the mic as your recording mic? I believe you need to connect it to your PC with the USB it comes with then manually change the mic in audacity to the Turtle Beach. though I've never tried it so I dont know if it will work, let me know if it does :)

I've looked into it for you and it seems it is possible but there are a few things you have to do to work around it. I guess the issue comes with the type of virtual surround sound the headset uses and the type Microsoft supports. So if you're in the market for a headset to use on Xbox I'd try looking for ones more compatible

I feel you, my friends Golds just broke the other day while my 500p are still going strong. Either way I dont really recommend one over the other I just like giving my perspective on both in the hopes that everyone makes their decision based on what people say in the comment section lol so I appreciate your comment!

Thanks for the feedback, I take it you've owned all three headsets? I've never owned the 400p so I don't have an feedback to give compared to the other two. However I can say that the 400p lack the 7.1 surround sound that both the gold and 500p host, while the 500p still rocks a solid 15 hours of battery life too :)

AnthonyKings_ Ya you don't get that 7.1 but I was more concerned with the mic and having people hear me clearly and easily, the 400 has an external mic as opposed to the internal I have used the playstation gold I bought them first but took them back because the mic sounded tinny people told me or like I was in a cave, my opinion on the 500 is based on what other people have told me, apparently the padding isharder and less of it then in the 400 and if you play long sessions could be an issue. Not to mention you can get the 400's for $79 at walmart, I love 'em and they get more comfortable the more you wear them.

Cant really tell you, both game me no problems when I personally used them. I use the 500p and my friend said I sound super clear, while on the other hand my friend uses the Sony Golds and he sounds clear too. Mic quality is about the same if you ask me.

Lol I see what you did there, the optical cable just allows for a bit crisper sound (and if I'm wrong on that anyone feel free to correct me.) I love my 500p but if they were as comfortable at the golds I'd be so much happier. It almost sounds like you've already made up your mind on the 500p man so I say just go with those. They are both great headsets, which ever you choose will still get the job done :)

In this video there is no real winner, I only described the differences between the two products and explain the benefits of each one. My personal choice is the 500p due to the reasons I mentioned in the video. However, you may think differently. Either way hope the video helped somehow :)
