Turtlejou - Fake Love or Cute Ship? Wings of Fire Analysis

I find it really ironic that the way Kinkajou treated Turtle felt exactly like how’d she treat any other friend during book 9 to me lol. She acts like a fun-loving loyal friend then turns around and goes “I love you Turtle”, and it just comes off so unnatural compared to how she behaves the rest of the book (I get that could be deliberate since it’s a love spell but it just seems silly). To be honest I think she has more chemistry with Moon during the book.

Where nobody really paid her any mind besides coconut ... Tamarin: am I a joke to you?

Personally I really enjoy the idea of Kinkajou actually being aromantic. She just gives me this vibe of well... romanticizing romance...? Like it's more of a fairytale to her: something she enjoys imagining and hearing about but not something that really applies to her reality?

honestly, I think Winter x Kinkajou is way more likely at this point for a few reasons 1. Kinkajou has always had a crush on Winter 2. Kinkaou has been helping Winter since the Epilogue of Darkness of Dragons 3. Turtle doesn't mention Kinkajou whatsoever in the epilogue. Not how she would feel, not how she would act, we don't even see her with Queen Glory in Book 14. 4. Kinkajou still feels a bit uncomfortable around Turtle because of the spell. She mentions this in the Epilogue of Book 10, saying she still can't tell what's real and what was the spell, but saying that she thinks she likes him about as much as Sloths and Anemone's crush on Tamarin 5. As mentioned here, they try to hang out more and see if the feelings are real. However, as mentioned in Point 3, Kinkajou is neither seen with Turtle or Mentioned by him in Arc 3, leading me to infer that things didn't work out. Now I don't hate the ship. I just don't think that it worked out.

Turtlejou could have been such a good ship, they had chemistry and were friends, but then the love spell just ruined everything. Kinkajou doesn't know which feelings she felt for him were real and which ones weren't. This reminds me a bit of Jason and Piper from the Heroes Of Olympus series, and this ship didn't work out either for those very reasons. It was just a weird plot point, the ship could have worked well without the spell.

Turtlejou is one one of the cutests ships in WoF, with that one big ole giant astericks hanging over it... Its a little eerie how real her love seems while she is enchanted. If that love had been real from the start, it'd easily be among my favorites. But yeah... yikes. Now that its lifted, and they had their chat about what that spell means, they have a good foundation to build a true relationship on. My god that scene is also just so damn cute. It gives me hope for when we see them in the future.

Everyone always says that they hope Turtlejou becomes canon, and you know, that’s fine. Everyone has their ships. But I personally hope it DOSEN’T become canon not just because any love for Turtle Kinkajou had was artificial (even tho that’s one of the main reason) but I also kind of like the message that love doesn’t always work out, no matter how much you want it to. And you can’t make them love you. I thought it was cool how Turtle accepted that as hard as it was for him. It probably is gonna become canon anyway lol cuz I can kinda see the foreshadowing. To be honest I kind of hope Winterjou becomes canon instead because I think it would be hilarious. Even tho it probably won’t. However, your analysis was very interesting to listen to and it definitely gave me a slightly different perspective of the ship and I DO think it could definitely work out now. I just don’t really want it to lol

I don’t hate this ship, but I personally prefer Moon X Kinkajou. I just love the dynamic of close friends who could be just friends or could be together. I don’t like that it was shoehorned in, but I feel like Moon and Kinkajou go together more. I love the art and the analysis :)

Hot take: I don’t think Kinkajou was ever romantically interested in Turtle aside from the love spell. She was into Winter in Moon Rising due to his “mysterious” brooding personality and “tortured” resenting attitude. She hardly took any notice of Turtle, who one could consider to be “boring” (something Kinkajou doesn’t want to see in a friend, much less a lover). After that, literally all that happens is: they split paths, Kinkajou gets put in a coma, and then wakes up with a sudden love for Turtle. I can’t imagine how that could’ve stemmed from anything except Anemone’s enchantment. Sorry Turtlejou supporters, but the ship seems one-sided.

I don’t have too much to say on the video, but I LOVE your art! I can tell that you’ve really improved with how you draw tribes and such. Keep improving, you’re a great artist and make interesting videos!

They have so much chemistry and would be a really cute match but it sucks how that love spell was added in, it just makes their relationship seem forced and like a plot device when it coulda been a really awesome match that became stronger overtime.

You also forgot the time when she was waking up and turned pink when she realized turtle was talking to her Also let's play attention to the wording of the spell I think it very physically said something along the lines of "and while I'm at it I enchanted to make her love my brother just as much as he loves her" which is an interesting point I never see anyone talk about because it could indicate severity or level For instance if she had already like turtle but wasn't as into it as he was just thus the spell would have changed her severity levels to match his Others point out that you didn't act really all that much different after the spell wasn't placed indicating that you might have liked him from the beginning I'm not quite sure how I feel about that because I'm pretty sure that in book 6 we saw that she was more attracted to winter, but also that pretty much any romance was just the big adventure of high school and that she didn't actually care all that much because she wasn't jealous about Moon which honestly give me kind of aro vibes but still indicates that turtle wasn't her crush during the time we got to see into her head and they didn't leave too much after that because she went off with the others a day or two later and he stayed back and didn't find her again until she was already in a coma And of course the epilogue off of shows her making good friends with winter so I wonder if that attraction is still there even with her weird enchanted feelings for turtle Which people point out is still possibly there because it was never an enemy spell in the first place and was all her but I don't quite believe that because she said they were gone and that she remembered feeling them which was like still feeling them but she didn't say she still felt them And again the addendum to the spell was just to take it off not to not make her love turtle so anything she would have felt originally would have still been there even with the spell removed which is what some people say these remembered feelings in the epilogue are but I'm doubtful But I agree with the fact that they would could still be good friends and are mature enough to talk to one another and maybe after a while they could still form a relationship just you know not one-sided magic this time because they really do work well together and I could see them working through this problem And like she says she does actually find him cute with or without feelings about it involved which I can definitely end up platonic way of teasing a best friend but in my personal belief all the best romantic relationships do Ryan's out of people being best friends first because honestly why wouldn't it

I swear I shipped this before talons of power even got released. But from a narrative point of view I really hope a winglet or something gets a chance to explore kinkajou. KINKAJOU DESERVED HER OWN BOOK! Comment aside my favorite head cannon is arc two was kinkajou either writing what she thinks happened or is trying her best to write down everything. Is there any proof? Nope. It’s just a fun head cannon

I personally don't like Tuetlejou because for me it feel like it came out of nowhere. It also feels forced and what not. It made me kinda unhappy since I always saw them more as friends. Kinkajou also feels very young to me, and Turtle is a definitely a bit older than her in my head, so it makes me uncomfortable. I would have much preferred if they either didn't ship anyone with Turtle or it was Peril.

My personal opinion on this ship is that Turtle and Kinkajou had chemistry before Anenome's spell, the spell just kick-started their relationship by helping Kinkajou see past Turtle's mask of unremarkableness. Another event with the same effect could have worked as a substitute. Example A: They get left alone together by their friends because of one reason or another and Turtle finds an opportunity to open up about his stories or the struggles of having siblings, and Kinkajou starts to get intrested in learning more about him.

Me personally, I like the ship because I feel like they go together really well I’m not judging anyone who doesn’t, but they just seem to click in my opinion. (NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE WHO DISLIKES THE SHIP!)

My opinion is that Kinkajou likes everyone and having a actual friend like jade winglet is new to her and turtle likes not being another brother and a failure and a dead man walking if he is discovered so he loosens up and anemone in her mental decline toys with turtle and now Kinkajou is stuck with good feelings for turtle and turtle is to shy to tell her without adrenaline’s that’s my opinion it is a tragedy or misunderstanding in disguise

Okay, I'm a bit late (because I didn't get the notification when this video first came out) but I just... *really want to talk about my feelings on this ship...* I DESPISE Turtlejou, and this is because I headcanon Kinkajou as aroace. To me, she doesn't seem like the kind of character to have a ship. I think Turtle's crush is cute, but Kinkajou returning the feelings is...weird, for me. I have a headcanon tied in with the aroace kinkajou one, which is that Kinkajou, in my version of the story is aroace, has a hard time dealing with the love spell because it's unnatural for her. This leaves effects on her that may take years to fix, but it's pretty much Kinkajou having mental health problems because Anemone's spell made her feel a way she wasn't supposed to. Back to canon- Like I said, I hate Turtlejou, a lot, but in a show of impressive self-restraint I will not go off about how liking the ship is wrong, because doing that is wrong because *it's a fictional ship* (I don't need "impressive self-restraint" to not yell at people for liking a ship, please don't murder me)

Moon x Kinkajou is better than what we got, Kinkajou and Moon stayed by each other's side even when Kinkajou was struck into a coma. They have much more chemistry than Moonbli or Winterwatcher edit: I mean winterwatcher, not quinter

I haven’t watched the full video but i honestly dont like the ship, i ship Pertle because i like the dinamic but i also have an oc i ship peril with but- i just think pertle is cute, for those of you who dont know pertle is peril x turtle. I just dont like the enchanted to love him (turtlejou) thing but i do respect people who like the ship im not gonna be like ‘oh i hate that ship and you have to too’ lop

I ship Turtlejou, I just find them to be a super cute ship and I felt really sad at the end of book 10 when it never happened, but I kind of expected that since Kinkajou never actually loved Turtle back (Also didn’t Darkstalker promise to never hurt one of Moon’s friends, and Kinkajou is her best friend, yet Darkstalker constantly tries to tell Moon she can trust him, yet ends up threatening Kinkajou’s life?)

One things I hate about shipping is that it sometimes goes against the shown sexuality like sure winter may be bi but he was shown to be straight
