Thanks for all the love, everyone 😁 Just wanted to clear up one thing that’s come up in a few comments - Many of you mentioned the scene where Beau reads smut in the tunnel to pass the time. I checked while making the compilation and discovered that it’s actually a different book, not Tusk Love. I think it’s about a sailor? idk. But I do appreciate how many times smut books have been brought up in canon 😂

Cad: "who's the author?" Jester: "uh, Matilda Merceria" Mat: *internal facepalm intensifies*

I hope matt understands that he could write tusk love and it could be the worst book ever but it would sell like hot cakes

I hope they realise that it's only a matter of time until someone actually writes a full book called Tusk Love because of this.

I did not realize the book was mentioned this often. At this point Tusk Love is the backbone of campaign two, the glue that keeps the Mighty Nein together 👌🏻

I'm sad that nobody got Liam's "ghost dick" joke about it being a crime story. For reference dick is archaic slang for detective, or police officer in the business of solving crimes.

That flask is cursed to keep growing each episode.

Whenever Laura calls Travis, Oskar, his look just says "If I don't go along with this, I'm sleeping on the couch."

Just realized that the author (it might be a joke by the uploader but still it's a good joke none-the-less) of Tusk Love is Matilda Mercia... MATilda MERCia. goddamnit.

So this turned up in our D&D campaign, where I have a history of accidentally looting porn when enemies don't have actual loot. So our party of level 2's comes across a Dragon Reborn necromancer and they roll a nat 1 on their perception to spot us. GM says they're reading a book. We take them down fairly swiftly and my (old dwarf grandmother) goes "I take the book they were reading." "It is called 'Tusk love' and has a human and an orc on the cover." "...It's porn, isn't it?" "Yup." "I pocket it without showing the rest of the party." A few sessions later we're Legitimately Attending a Noble's fancy party as a celebration for the successful return of another adventuring party. To liven up the party they've been lent a magical mirror that transforms people into monstrous forms. The old lady dwarf takes one look at the stuck up nobles, the grumpy ranger and the dragonborn cleric and *grins*. I hand a note to the DM saying "I want to turn into the Orc from the porn novel, but with more clothes." And so the GM begins to describe the Orc in *glorious* detail, complete with shiny tusks, glistening 8 pack, the works, including tight leather trousers that leave little to the imagination. The rest of the players are facepalming, I'm cackling, and the GM finishes with "...And you hear a gasp and an 'Oh my!' behind you." The party happens, I lose the illusion and get one of a siren next time. I end up chatting to the other party's (noble) Bard about it and admit I got it from a book. He immediately responds with Bard: "Ah! I knew it looked familiar! Tusk Love?" Me: "Yup." Bard: "With that woodcut on the mountain...?" Me: "Yuuuuup." Cleric: "Oh gods there's *two* of them now. ... and today I found out where it came from and I am NOT SURPRISED.

"Who wrote it?" "Matilida Merceria" *Matt's FACE*

When “Critical Role: The Legend of the Mighty Nein: The Animated Series” inevitably comes out, the two scenes I want them to include the most: 1) “imagine a blackbird blushing...”, and 2) “that ghost stayed for the whole reading...!”

I really wished that matt would have had that he would make a short story of tusk love as a stretch goal when they did the kickstarter

And this is the kind of thing that makes RP great. Someone, off the cuff, decides to buy a book. Mercer pulls a random polt out of his butt and throws out 'Tusk Love.' Now the players run with it for EVER! It's these little inside jokes that make gaming friends the best friends.

This might be about fjords parentage. Just saying.

I once got permission to play a succubus. She was pretending to be a human while working in a tavern, the job came with a room, and she had shelves full of books. I compiled a list of all the books' titles, "Tusk Love" was among them, though my personal favorite was "Flames of Ecstasy". I only got to use one title though, before the DM asked to have the character removed without valid reason, he claimed balancing issues, and I agreed to switch characters. I soon left that group because his version of balance was giving the assassin anything he wanted and more when I wasn't allowed a plus one sword, not even exaggerating.

Jester: I know what you are. Fjord: Say it. Outloud. Say it. Jester: Half-orc. Fjord: Are you afraid? Jester: No.

I'm seriously hoping that during a shopping episode that the M9 run into a book signing hosted by Mathilda for her newest crime thriller.

The part where Molly looks over Jester’s shoulder while reading Tusk Love and does the double take.

Forgot when Jesters real name came out in the campaign, but she said it early on apparently, Genevieve. She really was inserting herself (Jester) into Tusk Love

the whole "thirsty Jester" moment with Caleb comming to the room, and the segment right efter when she refered the book to Beau, who just wants to sleep.

Little did they know that this one reference would be immortalized in fanfiction, in-universe canon and fanart for all eternity.

And here I thought this was something my DM came up with. My gnome ranger Mewtholobar was pretending to read this when he and his party were trying very hard to act like they didn't just teleport into the commander's office.

I honestly hope the M9 get to meet Kiri again.

Although Jester reading "Tusk Love" to the ghosts was not a clutch moment in game play, it shows how she is the living embodiment of a Trickster God. The impulse was impish and had no ill intent. It was even pretty sweet. Again, I like to think that Jester eventually becomes the Trickster God.

I'm so dumb, just now after reading the name "Matilda Mercia" in the description I realize it's Matt's name xD
