December 1979 At The Forum, Fleetwood Mac plays "Tusk" in the middle of the set. Who joins them on stage? Yes, the marching band. The crowd cheers. Very cool. (I may be old, but I saw all the cool bands).
Saw the USC band play this in the mid-80s when they played at Notre Dame stadium. My dearly departed husband took me to watch the USC v ND game. Wow! What a show. We were in the stands right by the band. It was an awesome time. I remember how cool it was that the whole band wore sunglasses while they played this. And yes, Notre Dame won!!!
Back in the 1980’s, I used to drive from Sacramento to Los Angeles to meet one of my Uncles for the USC - Norte Dame game when the game was played at Coliseum.
Love Tusk since it first came out, and appreciate USC holding this special legacy. The performances are stronger through positive showmanship over the little jabs at other schools - yet this band and Song squad are still among the best!
“Tusk” was a gift to the world...but it looks like it was also a gift to the USC Marching Band! The band helped turned a good song into a great one, and it’s good to see that they still embrace it.
I’ll never forget the Fleetwood Mac concert at the Hollywood Bowl with the USC marching band up there on stage when they did Tusk. Freaking amazing! Good times.
Very familiar with TUSK, first time for me to hear the additional lyrics..."ucla sucks", awesome, the song takes on a whole new bonus level of awesomeness!!!
Far out!!!! So good!!! I was a kid when I saw a thing on television about the making of Tusk, The marching band and stuff… My dad was kinda like oh that’s dumb… Years later I’d look this song up and it’s become one of my favorites and to see a marching band doing it justice like this… It’s just come full circle
Wow FANTASTIC youngsters doing and dancing to the music I loved back in the good old days back in the 60s and 70s I'm now 66 years old divorced twice and 7 grandchildren even so at the time a great write up on this group in melody maker complete with song sheet the years of Woodstock peace and love hippies wow WOW those where the best years of my life the good old 50s rock and roll Jimmy Hendrix chuck berry buddy holly etc etc now no more RIP but never forgotten a legend and I live the legend always and forever from an ENGLISH man living in SOUTH WEST FRANCE
I hate to be a naysayer but these aren't cheerleaders. These are the USC Song Girls and they are a dance oriented squad that performs highly intricate choreography. Cheerleaders do stunts and compete at competitions for cheerleaders. These young women are an institution and are a kind of ambassadors for USC.
My ten-year-old son likes to watch support group dances when we go to basketball, football or hockey with him ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-szEnyMeO8is.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HI8Y3Yz3mos.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JWgEvLVEaEU.html
I've heard the band play this song and I Love It. It get fans Hype AF! But I have never seen the ladies do this routine. I LOVE IT EVEN M😍RE! Great Job Ladies!!!🥰👏👏👏👏👏
Strange, I just now realized I'm in love with USC cheerleaders. They look like they're really, really smart, and kind. You can tell the depth of their character just by watching them perform. CEO, MD, & POTUS material, all of them. I'll bet they all volunteer at homeless shelters, food banks, and rescue stray dogs and wounded sea turtles continually. You can tell just by looking at them.
@@battles423 It's just the name the group has. The USC Song Girls. They're basically a dance team. And yes, they are not allowed to cheer. The USC cheerleaders hate the Song Girls.
@@Maloha486 Our British girls are EQUALLY gorgeous. What are they like? Didn't you watch the football lasses make mincemeat of the German ladies last week?
Im Irish and accidentally stumbled across this, it gives me great confidence that Americans haven't lost their identity just yet. Stuff like this is why we love you guys.
Living 1.5 miles north of the LA Memorial Coliseum since birth('68) till 2014. Every so often, the USC band could be heard. "TUSK" would just cut through the air at times. Kinda miss that these days.
@@afpwebworks They do have a small coed squad of cheerleaders but it is overshadowed by the Song Girls dance team at sports events. The cheer squad has around 20 members each season (16-19 girls and 1-4 boys). Fall semester for the team is mainly dedicated to on campus events and performances, such as Homecoming and Conquest. Spring semester is focused on traveling and attending competitions such as USA Collegiate Championships and NCAA Collegiate Nationals.
JUST REALIZED I AM SUDDENLY KIND OF A LEG MAN NOW. PAUSE ON THOSE ATHLETIC LEGS......WASN'T READY FOR THAT; MY SHORTS FEEL LIKE THEY ARE GETTING TIGHTER FOR SOME REASON. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
