Love our new Tusk Terrabites 27x11/12 for our 900 Rzr Trail - but mostly for trails, rocks, gravel, road - we dont get much snow here in NJ...WAIT! 12-24inches tonight! lol Cool video

They're a great overall tire don't get me wrong...but ice/snow/mud there's a lot better options. Lol nice! Sounds like it's time to go play in the snow! Thanks for watching!

I have found the same issue. Winter driving is best to go with something else. Maybe Tusk Megabites.

Are those Tusk Terrabites going to work well for riding the Owyhees as well as the Sage Hen/Cascade /McCall area?

They'll work fine as long as you stay out of deep snow. They wear great on hardpack and asphalt.

The 29” Should be called 27“ because they run super small. Just installed my 29x9x14 and 29x11x14 on 7 inch front and 8 inch rear rims and they barely measure 27 3/4 inches . Still 2 inches bigger then the 27” Kanati Mongrel that barely measures 25” lol 2013Can Am Commander 1000xt

If you are ever looking for additional riding buddies let me know. I would love to pick your brain on some of the after market additions you have done to your RZR. I recently traded in my old RZR and got a 2019 4 Turbo S. I have done some of the same riding, Blacks Creek up through Prairie and back around Arrow Rock.

I know this video is a few years old…but I am thinking about going with the megabites instead… I do ride a fair amount of asphalt getting to our areas but I also do a lot of snow mud trail and some rock crawling etc.… What are your thoughts?

Polaris 4wd system is terrible in the snow. Even when it is fully engaged, the tears are spinning faster than the fronts. That is why they are so squirrelly.

The awd is fine imo. Would be nice to have a fully locked system (not dependent on slip) but I can't imagine Polaris ever going down that road. Tires and snow conditions play a huge roll. Had a lot better traction in bighorns, carnivores and coyotes.

Terrabites aren't snow or mud tires. The lugs are too close together mainly for DOT highway use. A winter set of lug tires for snow is the way to go then throw a 4 tire set of Diamond Tire Chains... loaded with weight in the cargo box. It will be a tank in the snow

Its not your tires as much is it is the difference in the 4wd systems. They work very different.
@McCurdyOutdoors
@McCurdyOutdoors 5 лет назад
Changing tires makes an incredible difference, especially in deep snow.
@DrDanTDC
@DrDanTDC 5 лет назад
JJAJFOREVER I didn’t say they don’t make a difference. The Polaris front diff only engages when the rear wheels slip. And even then they are pulling until the machine gets traction. So on a compact snow/ice road, the rzr is getting power to the rear wheels only until they lose traction again. Most other brands when in 4wd have one front pulling all the time unless it’s in front diff lock. That’s why the Can Am drove more straight on a road like that, but the rzr did better when in the deeper snow. Tires definitely make a difference, but on that type road it was more the 4wd system.
@McCurdyOutdoors
@McCurdyOutdoors 5 лет назад
@@DrDanTDC I realize how the awd system works on the rzr. Comparing it to the Canam with visco lock and no front locker I believe the Polaris should perform better but I still think it comes down to traction. I did a similar ride this week on the Middle Fork with the bighorns on and it was a night and day difference in handling and traction.
@DrDanTDC
@DrDanTDC 5 лет назад
McCurdy Outdoors I’m sure the bighorns were better. Having a front wheel pulling 100% of the time on a slick road is even better. I’ve had them all. Just my observations from years of riding these things. Over all the Polaris front diff is immensely better than the Visco lock.

Anyone can easily put 5-10k or more in their car on aftermarket upgrades and maintenance parts and I would estimate that A LOT of people do. Has nothing to do with knowing how to drive. Come out to Idaho, see if you can keep up ;)
