My flute arrived and it sounds beautiful from it self. I 'm practicing the scale and integrating some pops, hops and slides. I try to improvise as well. I found out that, although the tones on the pentatonic scale are all harmonious, it doesn't mean just playing some tones on the scale will necessarily create something interesting. Could you perhaps make a video on the step from going up and down the scale to next step; improvising /creating an interesting melody that's nice hear?
@@Eric-lh6wp great that your flute has arrived, and that you’re practicing improv. Initially you can always add some sheet music to help tune in to various melody. I never did this but know it works for people. Also, start at the bottom of the scale and try and find a melody using very basic notes in close proximity of each other, then gradually moving up to the top. Then try the same gradually manoeuvring to the bottom. Your basically creating a simple melody moving in a gradual flow, using the scale to give you direction but not just playing the scale of that makes sense. Watch other players too. Pick up a small part or parts of melodies you like and basically copy it BUT, I guarantee you’ll end up with something different. At first it might be simpler and easier to remember, but you’re then making it your own in a way. Don’t try too hard to exactly replicate it, but let it take you in a direction. 😊
Oh man I was really looking forward to hearing that drone being played with both flutes 😅 but I think this is the best example I have heard of breath control while playing. Really enjoying the addiction of getting better myself!
I have a video of me playing it on Facebook etc but I’ll post it hear during the week 🤣. I never thought to demo the actual flute. Thank you, great feedback on breath control example, much appreciated
Hmmm, do I need to give up cigarettes to play the drone flute!….life is one big dilemma 🤔 Thanks again for the tutorials…you seem like a natural when teaching in your relaxed style 👌
