What equipement do you use to capture the points?
@3Dforensics

In this video I was using the Recon-3D app.

Please, teach us how to render a hiper-realist image with CloudCompare, or even save as OBJ the same thing.
@3Dforensics
@3Dforensics Год назад
CloudCompare isn’t meant for rendering hyper realistic images. It has no tools for adjusting lighting, shadows or anything like that. It is possible to mesh point clouds and save as OBJ, but this can be a complex process depending on the geometry of the source point cloud.

@@3Dforensics Tks a lot for your replaying, it would be an amazing video for your channel, how to save as OBJ a point cloud object.

is there an option in CloudCompare to crop the pointcloud with a shape of the circle? if maybe not in CC are there any other software to do this? Thank you so much!
@3Dforensics
@3Dforensics 10 месяцев назад
If I recall correctly you can import a shape from another software and use that polyline to crop. Let me think on it and maybe I can come up with a short video, but I think it’s the first second icon in the segment menu.

@@3Dforensics thank you so much for your answer! i work with lidar in a forestry and we have some thesis and articles about greengas monitoring.. the most important thing to complete my research is to create a polygon with a shape of circle with a constant radius but the problem is that i cant find any tools in CC to do that..

@@3Dforensics ive imported LAS. pointcloud from another software to CC and only what i can do is to crop either with a polyline or square shape.. but i need a circle shape for my thesis…

@@user-fw9ln5lq7g I know this isn't a clean solution, but a solution nonetheless. Use the primitive factory in CC to create a cylinder with the desired radius. Then use sample points on a mesh to turn into a point cloud, then use the cross section tool to "extract envelope" and it will give you a circular polygon. I am really swamped right now or I would do a short video on it...but it will work.
@3Dforensics
@3Dforensics 10 месяцев назад
Another option...just use any CAD program to make the circle and import as a dxf into CC.

Why would you cut out the ceiling from a crime scene ? Say it is a murder scene you might have blood spatter on the ceiling. Also with the ceiling you can import it in VR and see everything in detail, shouldn´t that be the final goal to have a super high res crime scene in VR ?
@3Dforensics
@3Dforensics Год назад
if it's important, then you keep it, but if it's just extraneous data, you can cut it out, but keep it hidden. At some point you have to make a decision on where to stop your capture. To your point, if there was blood on the ceiling, then I would make sure to capture it in greater detail.

i have a problem. can you help me pls... i import the point cloud from FARO scan or UAV lidar with 1x scale. But when the data comes out, it look so small, if i zoom in for closer, the data cant even display on the window. do you have any tips for this?
@3Dforensics
@3Dforensics Год назад
Check your export units in Faro Scene and make sure all data have same units.

@@3Dforensics hmmm. i dont understand what you mean abotu the units. i export the pointcloud from DJI terra (after all step processing) then i open it in cloudcompare with 1x scale but it look just small and it disappear when i zooming.
@3Dforensics
@3Dforensics Год назад
@@NeedaCwtch take some measurements and make sure your all point cloud data is in the same units. You can send me a small sample of each point cloud if you like and I can run a test.
