Hey buddy can I ask, do you use a capture card? And if so what one do you use? Thanks ... love you’re videos btw ... can actually understand what you’re talking about all the time 😁😁😁😀
Fantastic video! One slight correction - the engine start is electric. The Q400 has starter/generator units which switch from a starter to a generator when the NH reaches 50% during start. This is why it is important to check the voltages prior to start. The reason for the bleed coming off prior to start is to minimise load on the APU and prioritise electric power generation for the start.
As a no-pilot I was following the entire walking through procedure to learn what all this cockpit displays/monitos/knowbs and panels are builded for. As a synthesizer-nerd I like to know the overall routing architecture of my machinery and the workflow and how I need to proceed and act and perform... And as an ex-Event Manager and lector in a school for applied communications skills I like very much the VERY IMPORTANT procedures/protocols/checklists to ensure myself I'll perform all - what needs to be done to succeed - correctly. The same is for Emergency Surgical Units Procedures and Red Cross Interventions... all based on trainings, simulations etc... with no nonsense know how and savoir faire information. I liked your entire explanation very much... about a field of expertise in which their is no much place and space for improvisation... only in high unusual conditioon like captain Sully landing his plane on the Hudson River and all similar high unusual situations/conditions where deep insight views are required every single moment of that crisis. Well done : 👌👍👏👏👏
Excellent, clear tutorial video which helped my rusty brain remember somethings I had forgotten when flying this bird, having recently acquired it for XP11 and having previously used the Majestic. Thanks very much.
Excellent Tutorial, I needed a refresher as I hadn't used this aircraft for quite a while, its surprising how much you forget.. lol, this is the best full Tutorial out there, even though its quite old now.. Many Thanks
Ground range lights are ok to go out during taxi. It won't take-off at flight idle don't worry 😉 the lights just tell you that the blade angle is in beta is all.
Ive used so much time tyring to learn this bird, everytime just leaving it because I got frustrated. But ur tutorial really worked, superinformative and nice! Danke Schön, now for some Widerøe-flights :)
In the Weight and Balance section in the Control Panel, you should enter the value for Release Fuel or Block Fuel in the T/O FUEL box because the value you enter there will be the value of fuel loaded into the aircraft. Which you need to be MIN T/O + TAXI + RELEASE.
@@andrewbennett4638 No worries! Absolutely, I'm planning on taking it out for a flight more often now I'm getting to know it better :). Just love the engine sounds as well :)
Excellent tutorial video, i would like to know if theres a particular reason for the master caution light to sometimes come on during engine start. Thanks
I believe the proper generic term for a gyroscope-based -- and optionally satellite-assisted -- position reference nav system would be "Inertial Navigation System" That might be a fighterism, though.
Fantastic job. I'm going to memorize your procedure. In a previous video you mentioned you had split the sound so only ATC is heard on your headset. Please post a screen shot of Majestic's control panel, Sound tab on how you managed that. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! Haven't altered anything there really as far as I know. ATC through headset is something independent from this addon, that's done in vPilot for flying on VATSIM.
My control panel does not have the cockpit state options as yours, so cold and dark state is not an option to me even I downloaded again the software. Something I am missing?
@@juanrodriguezA320 : There are three (3) versions to the Dash8-Q400. You probably have the same version like me ( PILOT EDITION). Some of the features are missing. The one in this video might be the ' PRO EDITION ' or ' TRAINING '.
Juan, if you're still struggling to get the aircraft in a cold and dark state (I also don't have this option on the control panel) then try this from the FAQs on the Majestic Software website "If you want a Cold-and-Dark situation, bring the aircraft to cold and dark by switching off all AC and DC switches, then save the situation. The next time you load it, you will find the plane cold and dark." I hope this helps.
Thank you very much for this tutorial! Cleared up a lot of questions I had, particularly about the FMS programming. I gather from one of the comments that you are using FS2Crew? Is that where the checklists come from? Also, which ground services app are you using - looks pretty realistic.
Nope, anti collision lights indicate aircraft movement, so it’s turned on right before pushback. When you’re at an airport you can see this as a sign the aircraft is about to pushback :)
Thank you for this. I have been flying the Q400 for a while and the video fills in some blanks for me. I find the aircraft to be very rear heavy and even if I have the bulk of the weight forward in the control panel, I still need a lot of forward pressure on the yoke to avoid going into a stall on takeoff. Is this a particular trait of the aircraft, or do you think I am doing something wrong?
You’re welcome! Yes it’s quite powerful on takeoff, so you will need quite a bit of forward pressure. Make sure you use reduced takeoff performance when the runway is long enough and when you’re not fully loaded. Also put the trim in the upper section of the white takeoff band. Other than that, the trim moves quite slowly, so it may take a while before you find a good trim setting :)
