TUTORIAL: Car Transfers 

Although I am not paralyzed the way you are (I have CP since I was born), this tutorial really helped me a lot. Finding my own way to do things is the most exciting thing about life! I have my own adapted car since February and still need to figure some stuff out. But I love the freedom it has given me since and will give me in the future!

I drive a coupe and this is exactly how i do it except my wheel chair is a little bit more heavy. I put my wheelchair in the back behind the passenger seat though. video ideas: -bathroom transfers -house tour/accessibility features -dating after sci -wheelchair tips/hacks if you can think of any

Quick release wheels are the best! I'm not in a car often but getting the frame in and out of my mom's car took some concentration.

Thanks for this- ingenious technique! I'm looking for a new car, but most of them seem to be higher up these days and I wasn't sure if I could manage them as I've been using lower/smaller cars up till now - My technique for lifting/dismantling the wheelchair was only ok for those types of vehicles. Now I see it's possible with the technique you've shown of leaning onto the wheelchair and keeping one wheel on! Good job

I put on the seat belt first which prevents me from falling out of the car while disassembling my chair. It provides security, but doesn't restrict my range of movement when handling the wheelchair.

This is pretty much how I do it with my Nissan Rogue but I don't have a oh crap handle, wish I did, I use the steering wheel to get in. Let's hope it can take the weight haha hasn't broken yet:p this is my motivation to lose weight to get a smaller chair. I have a tilite zra and it's not crazy heavy but heavier than yours for sure. I have a 16 wide seat. Would rather be in a 14 to get it in and out easier. I get it stuck on the steering wheel or my clothes sometimes lol

I get into my car very similar to you, except I will put one hand on the car seat and the other on the door handle and prop myself up that way! to get out I literally just slide right out, I have an L2-L3 injury with Spina Bifida from birth so I do have leg muscles (just very weak) so I am able to stand temporarily while holding on to my chair to transfer.

Can you do a video on how to put your chair in the trunk of a car? I have so much trouble fitting my chair in the trunk of a car and it's similar to yours

I am NOT a fan of those folding "Oh crap" handles 😂 I tried using it to get out of my aunt's car one day, heard a loud "ka-chunk" sound and took it with me. She couldn't even be mad cuz it came off so quick!

I got my new Tilite ZRA and its SUPER TIPPY to the point where I'm keeping my AT bars on. And to transfer my wc into my car with the AT bars on is SUPER DIFFICULT. But thats where Im at.

Hi. My wife is a spinal cord injury. Wheelchair user. She has a Audi TT S-line 2door coupe. You have a crap handle on the car and suv. She doesn’t have any crap handles. More for look her car. She also has bucket seats she is very scared to transfer without a board! And very nervous on her wheelchair fullstop. She has her anti tips also many years on her wheelchair. I would love her to be able to transfer like you. Can you give me any advice for her.
