I'm so glad you did this video. I've been using this technique with that tool for a long time now and I have to tell you that I use a 43g 3-barb needle in exactly the position you recommend and it works just as well. The 3 barbs have the potential to pick up 3 strands of hair but mostly the needle picks up 1 hair so there are no thick plugs visible. I am not a reborn artist but needed to root a few of my dolls' heads where hair had broken off at the back from lying them down, which I don't do as much now. This method is certainly quicker. I tried rooting one hair at a time from the end but gave up. This method means you can make the hair as thick or thin as you want. My back never hurts while rooting by this method. I use a soft travel pillow to hold the head in place.I got that idea from you. Thanks for validating this method which I do know a lot of reborn doll artists have not accepted. That rooting tool is German made by the way ( at least mine is) and is wonderful. I bought mine here in Canada.
+SuperLillysweet WOW thank you so much for watching and giving the great advice about the use of the other type of needle. I hope heaps of people read this so they can get more choices when they are rooting their Reborns. So glad to hear from someone else who does it this way as well.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting on my video. I feel there is so many way to do every aspect of Reborning and people need to have choices as we each have different ways we like to do things. After all no two people are the same lol. As a Reborn Artist i like to have choices and then i choose the way I want to make each baby. Thanks again for sharing your story with me.
After months of frustration I had given up on forked needles UNTIL I watched this video - something clicked and I have just rooted Paiges head totally with a 42 fork needle. Yay. Thanks Annette.
i have been using this tool, since i first started reborning. i wish i had thought of doing this a long time ago, thanks so much for this video Ann xxx

+rebornenthusiast LOL thank you for watching. I do a few difference layers to the lips but the last layer that seems to make the most impact is a mix of Thinning Medium, Red 02 and Mars Black. Hope this helps :)
Hi I love watching your tutorials, I've just started rebourning and have ordered the micro needle gadget and some needles from your ebay shop could you check if I've ordered the right set of needles ? I'm from the U.K And realy want my order to be correct thank you 😊
Hi sweetie, thanks so much for your video! I'm a new mom to a couple of full-silicone baby dolls, and because they're not "reborns," they've both come bald as an egg. I'm fine with it, but I'd really love to add some hair to have them be more realistic. I bought a couple of cheap wigs; haven't tried them yet, but I already know they're probably not going to work, because they won't give that fine, newborn feel. And yet I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of ruining the heads of my babies....even though they weren't super expensive, they were still a splurge, and I'd hate to do something that would permanently mark them, unless I know it's going to be perfect. So a couple questions. I see you're working on vinyl, have you worked on full silicone? Is there any difference? Also, in terms of the direction you place the hair, does it matter? I know you said to make it "uniform," but I've seen some reborns with a sort of swirl or spiral design of the hair. Does the hair placement really matter, or can you simply comb it into place? I'm just so scared, but really intrigued, so any advice you'd have to offer would be much appreciated, thank you!
I know it's been 4 year's so I hope you're still here. I have a baby that's been rooted, sort of. Patchy and very messy. Can I just had more hair to fix it? I've done this before. Thanks!
On your rooting video with the mushroom tool, you put the needle into the head horizontally and commented that the hair will not lie flat if you don't do it this way. However, in this video you jab the needle in at right angles to the hair and surface. Will the hair stick up all over the head and have to be brushed and wetted flat, or does it lie flat naturally?
Yes in that video with the mushroom tool I did say that, thats kinda of a directional rooting system and is the better way to go. This way is a quicker way and preferred by some people so I was just giving people more choice. However I did not find it to stick up that much so it was well worth trying.
Hello^^ I’m using miracle air dry paint. I tried to remove all the air dry paint from the kit using a miracle air paint remover. However, it was not wiped completely. I tried to remove paint with acetone, but I did not try to use it around. So I bought Crawford Scrubbie at the MacPherson. The skin paint on the kit has been cleared. but the problem was that between the mouth, eyes, nose, and fingers did not get washed away. Do you have a way to erase all the paint? Please help me ㅜㅡㅜ
Hi Annette I know I have asked this on another vid but can you remember thr sculpt of this baby please I am looking for a baby with a big smile hope you get this with it been an older vid thanks xx
