This is my second camera justu.faith/pLumixFZ80 The first one lasted seven years and it finally had too many drops from my saddle bags while riding my horses. This camera is easy to use, great action photos, a wonderful zoom and is very durable!! I have small hands ands comfortable enough for me to use one handed while riding horses. I just took it on an eight day horseback adventure in Israel and dropped it at a full canter on hard ground. Not even a scratch!! It’s a great camera for the price!
I just went from a conventional Canon video camera to this unit. I've been making movies for 57 years and have close to 300 videos on my channel. I've been reading the manual and playing with it somewhat. I don't have any real photography experience and consequently was completely lost trying to follow your video. I couldn't see what buttons you were pressing and you talked quite fast almost as though you assumed the viewer already knew everything about the camera. I couldn't get my screen to look like any of the screens yours was displaying especially at the pace you were going. I guess this wasn't really a "Basics" video. Sorry to be critical, but I leave somewhat disappointed :-)
Travels with Yoly I made this for my wife to be instructions on purely how to operate the video settings. I will be the first to tell you it is not comprehensive and it is not for the person laying their hands on this camera for the very first time. It is mainly a refresher on how to get somewhat decent exposure so I could match footage with my other cameras in post when we used it to film a wedding. You may find more value in the video after experimenting further with the camera, but I do not disagree with your critique.
Might seem like a dumb question (novice here) but what is the downside to setting video at 4k rather than HD30 or HD60 other than memory card space limitations? Excellent tutorial, btw.
Chrys, I don't use 4K much because some of the issues with ghosting and artifacts caused by the way it encodes. The limitations of this camera seem to get worse in 4K. Harsh backlight or indoors in just average to slightly low light yhe image falls apart very quickly. I recorded this to teach and refresh my wife on using the camera when we are using multiple cameras. I am likely shooting in 1080 anyway on my other cameras (70D).
Declan Dunne yes A is aperture! However this camera outside of the "video camera" M mode starts going auto for things you may try to manually set. Most notably the ISO. Even you take it out of manual ISO if you try to underexpose the ISO will just jack itself way up to 1600+ and it looks terrible.
Hi, Greetings from India. It was a wonderful review!! I own an FZ200 and its low light video quality is very poor when recording in Auto mode. Selecting Manual mode (movie), 1/60, f2.8 and ISO 3200-6400 for night video reduced the motion blur it didn't prevent ghosting as described in the video whose link I have provided below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nyzwdtjhKik.html I want to know whether you too have experienced the same problem while recording videos in low light.
