Great video. The tool has changed a bunch since last I used it several months back. It was a good tool to help me focus on smell, taste, kinesthetic, etc while writing and just having it spit out quirky ideas.

Thanks for sharing, I'm just starting to investigate these AI tools so I'm excited to see the benefits for my writing.

My only question is, where do the attributions of technology use stop? I mean, do we need to start explaining the library databases we used? Kindle reader for a book we read? Why didn't writers of previous times mention I used an IBM Selectric typewriter. I used a manual Royal typewriter. Should we mention all the hardward we used Macs versus Microsoft versus Chrome? If they were a writer who used a particular brand of pen, or paper, should that be disclosed? This whole process is starting to get out of hand when we realize that if we are going to be a modern writer we are using hundreds of different tools. Soon we will have to disclose that I was wearing Addis shoes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays while I was writing and Dr. Scholls on all other days. I know that some will think this is ridiculous, but I can see the time when authors (and maybe readers) will start calling out one another because you didn't disclose that on Friday, May 7, 2021, you used an Excel Worksheet to create a temporary outline to your thrid book. You are not being ethical. I have seen people cancelled for a lot less than that.

I was just going to have a go using ChatGPT on it's own but can see how useful this programme is for novel writing sat on top of that Ai software programme. At 64, I am soooooooo excited about all this new generational software and wish I was so much younger today to take part in whatever comes along in the future. But at least programmes like this this give me hope to move forward and faster!!! I listen avidly to your podcasts every week whilst doing my mundane, but necessary daily income work, and you inspire me so much to become the 'author' that's burning a hole in me to get out! Excellent video. These "tools" are creeping into our lives at a rate that concerns me. Not just for our craft being overwhelmed by AI passage, but for the accelerated reliance on these artificial creative means by a new generation not educated to communicate in schools. There will be back lashes, the full effect is for the future to reveal.

Thank you Joanna for once again providing great, relevant information. I love the idea of implementing an ethics protocol when listing AI support, however, I do see AI very much as an expansion of what we had once viewed as auto-correct which you seem to infer as well. I wish though that before there are rules or guidelines for such protocol for AI, that ghostwriting could also be addressed. I just wish there was a delineation protocol for work that is created by an original author vs work that has been patched together by a bunch of paid ghostwriters on behalf of a figurehead. Maybe it's too difficult to track, but it does seem shady to have a top ten bestseller that wasn't actually written by the person whose name appears as author. I realize this is a bit off-topic, but I'm curious about thoughts on AI citing vs the lack of ghostwriter cites. Many thanks as always for the amazing work you do Joanna!

Thank you for the video. I've been using ChatGPT to give me feedback on my novel and offer suggestions/rewrites of parts. For the most part it has been so helpful.The problem chatGPT has though is that it doesn't remember more than a couple of thousands words. So when I ask it for feeback on a chapter, it doesn't recall previous chapters and starts suggesting I do things like describe the setting (when it has already been described in the previous chapter), or it suggests I establish character motivations (when these have been developed earlier), etc. My question is -- does Sudowrite suffer from the same short memory? If so, how to work around it and go through one's book chapter-by-chapter without each chapter appearing like a stand alone to the A.I. And do you still recommend it for authors who already have their book written? Thank you for your time and your friendly video

One of the main things which is making me a little hesitant to get this is that there is a word limit per month. While I realise that writing over - let's say - 90000 words a month may seem like a steep limit to reach (especially considering that most novels only are on average around 70000 words), if you use Sudowrite a lot to edit your texts and generate alternate ideas wouldn't this add up fairly quickly? Yes, if doesn't count your own words which you have already written, but if you constantly change things you have already written I think that word target can be reached quickly. Also, it's probably just my inexperience/ignorance in using the software at this point...but I must admit I feel fairly overwhelmed/intimidated and uncertain at present just how much the program can help me. I have a clear pre-existing outline of what I want to happen in a story I am writing... can the AI anticipate what you want to happen from what you have already written based on the pre existing characters in the story? How far back can the AI remember from what you have written in the past? Can it stay true to what you have already written and not suddenly - let's say - turn a lover into an enemy on a whim? Can the AI generate a story on a pre-outline you have created using the characters you have created? Obviously I expect that I would till have to edit everything....but it would be a great way to get a start into each chapter.

I was using chat gpt to spit ball ideas for steampunk alchemist faction. At first, it was very general. It seem to love undead and time machine plots. Then it started feeding details of the world and it got a lot better. Alchemy works just like it does in Full Metal Alchemist. They also face Arcanepunk and Cyberpunk nations, and they are forbidden by treaty to mix technologies. It got better but it was still stuck on undead and time machines. Not touching time plots, and the undead in this world are considered a poor man's golemancy army. Very squishy, literally and figuratively, and very dumb. Better to have golems with enchanted metals and standardized metal mind for the golem.

Would it be possible to paste a large chunk of the story into this tool and utilize it to help generate more to the story?

Is Sudowrite worth the increased cost vs Rytr?

That is just so much more generated text than I was expecting. Is sudowrite not basically the coauthor at that point?

My problem with the tool is it stopped working right and i would consume thousands of words in bugs. I really don't think it's ready for subscribers. One example is the story editor. It worked great till chp 9 of 12. Then couldn't keep the characters right and started a whole new story. Other times it would stop generating content for no reason. I have word tokens available but each bug eats up 500+ words. Hoping their support pulls through to fix and refund the consumed words tokens

I found an old story I wrote when I was in 4th grade. I was curious how it would sound rewritten. It was very interesting. But I think I will stay away from it.

I don't see why authors would need to include a note saying they used AI when everyones been using AI editors for years. People use grammar correct, digital thesaurus or software like Grammarly already but are complaining about Authors using more advanced tools. Now if someone physically lets AI auto write everything or even the majority I think it would make sense but just using it for things like changing the tense, improving prose or suggesting plot ideas and details I think it's unnecessary. If you say you used AI tools most people are going to think AI actually auto wrote half or all of your story.
