When I was a child, I used to love watching this opening, even though I had no idea what the series was about. These days, I can enjoy both the opening and the television series. (and the stories as well!)
@@andrewestrella2195 true my bad, I thought Michael Carr meant Poirot himself. But no she would love Suchet but I don’t think she would like Brannaugh. why tf was he carrying a gun?? I really hated that film
@@donthaveagoodusername5345 It's not that she hated her character, she hated the circumstances that resulted from it. Poirot was so popular to the point whenever she would write something that wasn't Poirot, it wouldn't gain as much success anymore. It's similar to what happened with Conan Doyle and Sherlock (tho his was a more extreme situation, at least Agatha Christie has other well known works outside of Poirot). I can't blame her, it must've been infuriating.
The solo sax player is absolutely superb in his interpretation of the piece. His intonation can't be criticised in this fascinating, yet simple piece of music.
I would notice things like that, having a musical background and perfect pitch. Key of G minor first, then transposing up a semitone to G# minor. Intonation is very important to me and it is very good!
Although I still haven't read a single Poirot novel I admire Suchet's portrayal of Poirot. The series is incredible with its atmosphere and editing and Suchet is incredible as Poirot. The character is so lively that it just drags you into the story and won't let you until the story is finished. I've seen several episodes translated on our national TV and I have to say that even our translators and voiceover actors did a tremendous job at recreating the original feel. Best series ever created.
I was in my friends garden in Pinner,London and he was showing me his daffs, then suddenly the voice of Poirot came over the fence "Morning Roger"!.... yes Mr Suchet is his nieghbour! Crazy or what?
Poirot is probably my favorite British detective series. I've grown up with him, watched all the mysteries before I was 12. You simply can't beat the class this guy has, not to mention the skill and wit. Hastings is by far the best assistant, and Ms. Lemon is simply elegant. I have nothing negative to say about Poirot at all. End of story. :)
I must of heard this millions of times as I fell asleep coming from the living room tv because it was one of my dads favourites...I guess I grew up liking the tune
My mum used to be obsessed with Poirot and watched every episode and now she's moved on... It makes me sad as I used to enjoy it but now she's moved on to things like 'Scandal' '90210' and things like that which I can't stand. Ah Nostalgia.
I'm not gonna lie I cried when I saw David Suchet as Poirot because when he was in earlier films they had him play stereotypical villians that where questionable at times but when I saw him as poirot that was like holy shit he's playing a character that he looks so at ease playing as.
This theme and the opening to the Miss Marple series starring Joan Hickson is where my love for the murder-mystery genre was born. Timeless classics both!
im 20 and i can remember the first time i ever saw it, that first episode made me fall in love with it, you know i wasnt familiar with it before but miss marple is quite good, my friend loves it and every time it was on she called me so i would watch it, and i like it very much as well, murder mysteries are such fun which is why i love murder she wrote and all those cop shows like law and order, long live POIROT!!
My nan died 2006 and she loved this show. And agatha christie for that matter. We are from Bolton so she would be like OH! You'll not get better of poirot. You see hastings you must use zeh littel greyy scells!! Mademoiselle i love the way he says it. God bless you Nan. 09.09.37-23.04.2006.
1. Evenings with my Grandma, with her amazing dishes, while we watched TV. 2. My uttermost understanding of Ancient Egyptian, Mesopotamian style and, finally, Art Deco, futusrism and grey brain cells
Hercule Poirot is great, David Suchet is fabulous.
Used to watch this when I was very young, didnt understand a thing........could not remember the name of it but this theme music kept playing in my head all the time......pleasantly surprised to find this here........brings back sweet childhood memories.....ahhh, those blissful days.......
Indeed, a brilliant, majestic piece of music that touches all the strings of the soul. A little sad, this melody is associated with Hercule Poirot himself, who devoted himself to solving the problems of crime, but never found happiness in family life, because he never got his own family.
Agatha Christie is the best mystery writer of all times and absolutely love Poirot. I think I have watched every episode at least twice and each time I find something new in them. The BEST!!
it was one of my wonderful and lovely mother in law favorite show ... everytime i hear this soundtrack.. it s for me impossible not to cry. She was amazing.. lovable and nicest person i ve ever wanted in my life.. and God.. decided to take her away from me... she was such a blessing . Love you mum... everywhere you are.. ( watchin .. poirot i am sure with the angels )
Had a lazy day today sat in front of the TV and noticed an omnibus of poirot was on. 6 hours later and a whole heap of food and drinks and I was going to bed a happy man lol love this show
Love the graphics in the intro. So 1920's Art Deco. Inspired. And the music with a slightly Belgian/Parisian flavour played on that sax, sets the scene perfectly for this suberb series. There have been only a few actors who, in my humble opinion, have portrayed a character in a book 'believably'. David Souchet is certainly one of those. A brilliant characterization. You only have to read the books.
Great music and animations, and what is more important: Awesome series! Btw: Great quality of audio in this vid. I think the best from all the vids of Poirot's openings on YT! Thanks a lot
Poirot is fantastic i have some of the episodes on dvd my favourite is Hercule Poirot's christmas, it perfectly captures the time of year and is also a first rate murder mystery!
I watch it alot :) My favourite character is Hastings played by Hugh Fraser - he always makes me laugh :) David Suchet is great as Poirot :D I also love how loyal Hastings and Miss Lemon are to him!!
David Suchet as Hercule Poirot is the best one !! actually the character is much more interesting than all others like Miss Marple or Sherlock Holmes.. :)
I've always been the odd one out - following the unconventional path. This song is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. I will make it a tradition for my heirs, and their successors to honour the incredible work of this show and of its talented actors.
I re-discovered this bout a month ago. And ill tell ya, I rememer being little and this and the Mystery! Intro almost opened a door to your imagination as a kid in the 90s, best time EVER. Its nice watching the episodes now that im older to, I watch any one I can find when im at work in my office. Poirot is prob my favorite!
This takes me back to be a kid and watching this on a Sunday night before school in the morning. It makes mes think of a different life as a kid never to return. Quite sad really, but a great show.
I just heard this on the tv, wow! I looked up Poirot theme music. I know I am going to research further, because that saxophone is sweet! I am listening to it for the third time straight after hearing it the first time just a few minutes ago!
BBC has produced some of the best TV series in the world: Poirot and Pride & Prejudice (1995). I'm in love with stories that have either a 19th c. setting or the 1920s. I remember a certain TV series with 2 girls in the UK setting a fashion house. It really influenced my childhood and my personality. To this day, I'm passioned about 1920s fashion and get a bit of a curious thrill whenever I see something related to it .. Sadly, I can't remember the name of the show ... I adore Poirot!
