This took me about 45 minutes MAYBE, I was in a hurry but they still look good so far. I used the soap in warm water instead and so far so good thanks man for the tips!!
How long did you let each wheel sit and dry? I realize taking the wheel off the truck makes it easier, but really trying to figure out what one wheel takes time-wise, start to finish.
First wheel took about 35 min just to make sure everything lined up but after that about 20 per wheel. I did them at night so they could dry over night
Masking tape doesn’t seem to pick up the edge of the decal. Tried rubbing the tape slightly to get it stuck to the decal but still doesn’t peel off. Ideas?
I scratched one the them while trying to clean that weird blue glue off my tires with a stiff brush. It was totally my fault, slipped off the tires and point blank scratches the hell out of the wheel decal so I pulled them off because I wasn’t about to dive into that when it was freezing outside. Otherwise they held up great.
Just a different angle to apply the vinyls at. Removing them allowed me to get a more comfortable approach but it can be done with them mounted, just requires patience
Shane Carwile yup, they did well in touch and touch less washes. The other day I did scratch one when I was cleaning the blue crap off my tires and hit the vinyl with the edge of a brush, but tvd gives you extras, so just need to pull it off and replace.
@@WaterFowler41 agreed! Going to do the skid plate as well but that will be hyper dipped. Just can't decide on the wheels since they'll need to be in winter for like 6 months haha.
Shaker 345 thanks! Yup these are matte and match great with my factory wheels. Helps that the silver areas are at different angles than the black. If you head to my Instagram, I posted a bunch of pictures of these so you can see different angles. Overall I’m really happy with them. Low cost, huge impact to appearance.
That’s an option too but a bit messier and resource intensive. This is literally vinyls and application fluid. Hard to mess it up and no issues with overspray.
As nice as this would be cause it’s a cheaper way to get blacked out rims. IF you ever take this to a Dealership to get new tires you’ll more then likely have to reapply a new set. That tire machine will ruin it.
The vinyls are $30 and easy to replace. For how infrequently over the life of the vehicle you get new tires, $30 to black out wheels really isn't horrible.
I'll give props... Impressive. But I'd never waste that much time myself on a wheel much less X4 for stickers that will come off at some point... Just couldn't fathom this. Really though, good job and effort otherwise!
mauricio cuellar only issue I had was self inflicted. I was trying to clean the blue glue from the tire factory off the white letters and ended up hitting my wheel with the brush scratching one pretty bad.
