TW200 not fast enough? Not enough low end torque? Wanna make the TW200 better for hills, or make the TW200 better for the highway? I swapped out the rear sprocket on my TW200 and here's what I've found.

I went from a 50T rear to a 43T I think. It much improved the top end rev and didn't notice much lost in 1st gear pull. Overall it made the bike far more streetable without much loss in hill climbing. It's a good all around combo.
@MOBStreet83
@MOBStreet83 2 года назад
Wow!! That is a big jump. That's awesome that it didn't really affect the lower end. With my weight it might be a different story. I bet it made it loads better on the road. Thanks Billy!

In my opinion the bike should have came with a 47 it'll still climb a tree.. my two sprockets are a 45 and a 44 be careful with that 43 that's a lot of force on the chain slider you're going to wear through that thing fast, keep an eye on it. ✌️

@trentluadtke1096 thanks for the specific info, are you wearing it out fast with the 44? Would a changing the front AND rear reduce wear on it you think? I ordered a 44 and a 42..

Great video and thanks for taking the time to make all the TW videos you do. I've had my 21 TW for about 2 months and I just changed my rear sprocket to 45 2 days ago. I'm between 6'2" and 6'3" and weigh 190 and I was pleasantly surprised how much more streetable the TW is with the 45 rear. I live in the tidewater of Virginia so there's not much hill climbing here but I'll see how things go when I go to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Hey David! That looks like some gorgeous country to live in! That close the rivers and how green it all is out there! I'm glad to hear that the 45t rear sprocket is working well. I have always wondered what it would be like for me. I have a lot of hills where I live and don't know what it would do with my weight. I need about 10 more TW's so I can set them all up differently. The Blue Ridge Mountains would be an awesome place to ride! Thanks for watching and for the comment. Here's to many more happy miles!

Hi Matt, good video. I went down to the 47 in the rear, was nice for highway and you could use 1st gear for more than 10ft, lol. I have been using my other larger bike for highway now & the TW is just for the trails now, so I ordered a 52 & am going to install that one after your recommendations & satisfaction with the 52.

I haven't changed mine out (stock) because I love to follow horse trails and what not, which often require about 1/2 mile an hour it seems like :). Your video had me laughing about one thing though. You mentioned that replacing the rear sprocket is easier than replacing the front sprocket, but then you pointed out (correctly) that you'll have to replace the front sprocket anyway. Made me chuckle. I'm at 7,500 RPM or slightly higher (if I remember correctly) at 55mph, and running out of juice at about 62mph on a windless flat road. The 52 tooth might be an even better option for me, but I'm nervous about losing any more cruising speed.
@MOBStreet83
@MOBStreet83 2 года назад
You're right! I did mention that it is easier to swap out the rear sprocket because you and I both know that there will be folks who don't swap out all three together like it is recommended. I had to add both of those in there! Great catch! Yeah, I lose power around 64 mph but it is screaming while I do. I don't try to hold that rpm for too long but it'll do it. I haven't noticed too much of a loss of speed with the 62. I think I need to do a speed run with it just to verify for you.

Hey Gary! Good point. I had always heard that 1 tooth in the front was equal to 2-3 in the rear. I should've checked to see what the gear ratio difference would be between the 13/50 (3.84-1) and the 14/52 (3.714-1). Maybe I will do that ratio on the 2022! Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks for the video Matt. I tried a 47 tooth rear back when I got my '05. I thought it dogged it down on the highway with my fat butt on it (240#). I went back to the 50 tooth. I still need to hit a highway here and there, so the 50 feels about right for me. BTW, I'm at 600' elevation. I wonder if your higher elevation has some to do with your preference as well? Have you played with jetting? I wonder if the factory's leaner jetting helps you at the higher elevation?
@MOBStreet83
@MOBStreet83 2 года назад
Hey Gene! I think there are a lot of factors to take into consideration when choosing a sprocket and weight and elevation are definitely two to look at. The 52t has been awesome and I'm thinking I might do a 13/50 on the 2021 to see the difference there? 🤔

I've had good experience going 47T rear with stock front. Gained 3-4 mph and 3-4 mpg at freeway speeds and the motor just sounds happier. Ideally will 6-speed swap someday and get the best of both worlds for low 1st gear trail crawling as well.

Hey! Congrats on the new bike. I apologize, I thought I had commented back a few days ago. Me personally, I would put the 50 tooth back on.
