What up Fable Squad! Twenty One Pilots - Neon Gravestones REACTION Fable Instagram: @fablefil Instagram Link: fablefil?h... #TwentyOnePilots #NeonGravestones #FableReaction
"Find your grandparents or someone of age, pay some respects to the path they have paved. To life they were dedicated, now that should be celebrated." That never fails to make me cry. Stay Alive frens please ||-//
Here is my take for this song. For Linkin Park fans, it is a known fact that Chester is a huge fan of twenty one pilots and Tyler must have known about that. However, he does not approved of people trying to glorify suicide. What LP fam did for Chester, from an outside perspective, must have come across as glorifying. Huge memorials everywhere, increased number of suicidal calls, etc. When Tyler said that part about "they can host a celebration".. Chester's official memorial at the Hollywood Bowl was called, "Celebrating the Life of Chester Bennington". When he said, he would cry for a child but wont mourn for a king, I interpret it as if a kid took his own life, thats a pity coz he didnt get the help he needed and havent lived much, but for those that are older, who has all the access to rehab and mental health facilities, it's a shame that it was not avoided. This part right here, I can feel the anger from Tyler. I know, coz im a huge LP fan, that fans have been tagging him over and over and over again for him to offer condolences in public (he did in private as per Mike Shinoda's AMA speech) but he never did publicly, maybe coz this was the silence era, but more so because he doesnt want the tøp fans to support and glorify this. Thus the line, "if i lose to myself, promise me this, that you wont mourn a day and move on to someone else". He doesnt want people to get stuck mourning, like what stan did to Kurt Cobain, to Chris Cornell, to Chester. He appreciates that there is talk about mental health because of this suicides, but he doesnt want this to be the choice or option of an artist to get back to the world when they feel the world has wronged them. There is an undertone that Chester must have felt like it. He is very close to Chris Cornell and people have forgotten who Chris is and Soundgarden/Audioslave is, but when Chris died, all of a sudden Chris was celebrated, his works put in a pedestal (NEON GRAVESTONE). This is at the same time that Linkin Park just released an album and that fans and the world diss them and called them sellouts. So in a way, could be that Chester was angry, as he gave everything to his art, took his own life as a revenge. And thats what Tyler doesnt want to happen to him and he wanted to make sure that fans understood that he if he ever took his own life, he shouldnt be celebrated. I personally think that Tyler is a Chester fan but he was angry when he wrote this, like some of us must have felt, and this is his way of dealing with the loss. I love both human beings. I miss Chester so much. And i cried so much when I first heard this and I hate to admit that Tyler is right. It felt like a direct attack but he needs to make this record and I understand that. It eventually became cathartic.
He is straight talking about celebrities suicide and neon means the light with no warm. When celebrities dies people start to listen their music, talking about them, but their mourning not real(like a neon not real fire). Just my thoughts
@@thefablesphere thanks for your reactions :) hope you will react to trees and it could be live, so emotional and so much energy in live perfomance they give
I agree with many of the comments below. But, the meaning of "neon" is much simpler, IMHO. Your favorite bar advertises your favorite beer with a neon sign. A business is 'open.' Neon signs are meant to grab and gain your attention. Neon gravestones - relating to celebs who have killed themselves, are meant to be 'attractive, cool, in, etc.' "Look how popular so-and-so got after they did what they did. You should do it too." It's brilliant wordplay, Neon Gravestones. I hope that makes a bit of sense! Another passionate and awesome reaction!
I'm a new 21p fan myself and spent ages looking for an explanation of this song straight from Tyler himself, and I found it (link at the bottom).. Tyler describes how he basically wrote this song as a challenge to his (or the listener's) suicidal self. He is not going to listen to someone being sympathetic and comforting when he is on the ledge. That's not going to change his mind. He needs more of a "tough love" approach and he knows there are other people out there who relate. I've battled suicidal depression for years and I know exactly what he means.. Sometimes I basically have to yell at myself. I don't want anybody telling me how great I am or how I have everything to live for. That actually just frustrates me and pulls me in to that "form of aggression" state of mind Tyler refers to. Sorry if that's a bit too personal, but I think it helps explain! Society is not willing to accept that suicide is not a cut and dry issue. People commit suicide for many different reasons and we need to acknowledge this if we want to prevent it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TUq62baSLrg.html P. S. Your reactions are my absolute favorite. Keep it up!!
Watching you grasp it is so awesome It’s such a powerful song for me and the way he explicitly addresses how suicide is treated as a norm in our culture completely shuts off people who claim that this band “glorifies” suicide and depression. Tyler (who is the main one to write the lyrics) has struggled over his life with his mental health and through his music he is able to address problems and even find solutions to work through issues.
In the line with that they have everything, why would he go and that they would mourn about a kid but not cry about a king means that why would celebrities( for example Chester Bennington )commit suicide when they have everything (money, mansion etc.) and that when a kid committed suicide that the world is like shocked and is mourning but when a musician kills themself it’s like they did not recognized them when they were alive. The people have just started to listen to their music after their death. For example lil peep or XXX their are more famous after they have died. When they were alive nobody listened to their music and cared for them. But the music has not changed it’s still the same. And some just got famous because they have committed suicide or died. And Tyler (singer) also had suicidal thoughts and is suffering by chronic depression.
Watching you becoming a full on ToP fan is so amazing. Not only spotty teenagers in this click. Lol. Jokes aside. Yes, the genius of their music and lyrics are very evident in this one. Keep going, and hugs from Sweden.
YOU are my favorite TOP reactor!!! I am trying to catch up with all of the ones you have reacted to! So glad someone else appreciates the music as I do.
It's simple, don't look up to pop stars, rock stars or Hollywood stars to answer life's riddle. Be still, be true to yourself, cherish who's around you and your answer will come.
Just watched your LP reaction and had to come back here. Mike said in an interview shortly after Chester's death that one of the first calls he got was from Tyler. Said it meant a lot to him. Tyler never said, of course, and probably never will, but I think one of the people he wrote this song for/about was Chester. I like to think so anyway. For those who battle and live with depression every damn day, everything can be going swimmingly, life can be great, and all it takes is one bad night or thought or slip, and boom, light out. Listen to early TØP stuff off their self titled album and even earlier songs, Tyler was in some very dark places. He seems to be in a much better place now, but he did write in this song, "Promise me this, if I loose to myself, you won't mourn a day". Loving your journey through TØP!
Hey, i didnt get the chance to see this interview. Thanks for pointing this out. I really believed that Tyler love Chester as much as Chester loves tøp and this was written when he was in the anger part of the grief process. I felt attacked the first time I heard this song, almost diss Tyler coz of it but then I came to.my senses.
"Communicating further engraving an earlier grave is an optional way, No" it was at this lyric that I knew what this song was about not only referring to the glorification of suicide but as a challenge to your suicidal self and the last closing lyrics confirmed it for me "promise me this if I lose to myself you won't mourn a day at you'll move on to someone else.... don't get me wrong the rise in awareness is beating a stigma that no longer scares us, but for the sake of discussion, in spirit of fairness can we give this some room for a new point of view. Could it, be true that some could be tempted to use this mistake as a form of aggression, a form of succession, a form of a weapon, Thinking ' I'll teach them ' but I'm refusing the lesson. It won't resonate in our mind, I'm not disrespecting what was left behind just pleading that it does not get glorified, maybe we swap out what it is that we hold so high. find your grandparents or someone of age, pay some respect for the path they had paved, to life they were dedicated now that should be celebrated"
It's exactly as some others have said. I took this one very personally and absolutely love it! It's talking about how we as a society glorify celebrity suicides...we hold vigils and everyone goes crazy pouring out love for a celebrity that has taken their life. But they won't get his bones! Some could use this mistake (suicide) as a weapon or form of aggression or to teach them a lesson...but he's refusing the lesson! But to top it all off, he's not disrespecting what was left behind, but saying that we need to STOP GLORIFYING SUICIDE!!! Let's start paying respects to those who were dedicated to life!
The emotion in this reaction is so pure and heartwarming. I love watching people discover twenty one pilots from start to finish. Earned a sub and follow. Notifications is set. You are hands down the best reaction channel I’ve come across for twenty one pilots music. Keep it up. |-/
Never apologize for your pausing! I litterally just found you, and you are by far the best interpreter out there imo. If i didnt want pauses i would just listen to the track by itself. Thank you for giving TØP so much respect, they mean alot to me atleast.
Yo, there is seriously no need to apologize for pausing the song... We are here to watch a REACTION video! Why is someone who has issues with you pausing to give your reaction watching a REACTION video!?!? Also, I hope you continue down the TØP rabbit hole, there are quite a few more epic songs just waiting to blow your mind. Thx for the content!!
Thanks so much man.. I really appreciate that.. and that’s what I usually say to people! It’s a reaction video! Thanks for the love and support man. ☺️❤️🙏
Also please always do first time listen reactions those are the best! Like it doesn’t matter if you don’t interpret the songs the way “they are meant to be”. It’s interesting to watch you try to put the puzzle pieces together.
I'm so loving you go down this rabbit hole, they truly are the best out there these days and you are doing phenomenal in interpreting all of it. Have you done Ode to Sleep? Great place to start.
I had to open the comments on my phone to say this was a fantastic reaction video. When you pulled you headphones off during the last chorus, that was really an embodiment of how this song makes me feel. And it was also very interesting seeing you work through that this is indeed directly about suicide and how it can be glorified, how we need to look at all sides of this.
In way of music and lyrics they made a huge evolve step in every album , step by step . So it might be a big difference between songs from different album's , and this one from Trench i would say - one of the most serious from Tyler
@@thefablesphere after you listen all of their material , and get all context , understand that's it not even a universe inside album , that's even multi-universe between albums with characters and deep meaning - you will love it even more )
It's amazing to see the passion you have for their work, it's so inspiring and validating to see someone else go insane over how good their music and lyricism is |-/
you're reaction to this was incredible. i love when you pause the song to voice your thoughts. especially when you say something and then tyler sings about it in the next line and you're like "i just said that!" it's awesome.
I have spent the last week going through the TOP playlist you have! Loving each one. The piano piece in the beginning sounds like Beethoven’s midnight sonata. Beautiful!
Great video! It's awesome to see more people get into their music. A few suggestions: -Morph -Air Catcher (Alternate Version) A thing about Air Catcher: I recommend the alternate version since there are a few details on the original one most people don't like that much, but they're both great Their newest album, Trench, is amazing, and there a few tracks there that I'd really like you to listen (They're all very different from their other songs). These are: -Jumpsuit -Nico And The Niners -Levitate If you do react to these, please do it in that order, since they're telling a specific story. Anyways, keep up the good work!
@@thefablesphere obviously order is Heavydirtysoul - jumpsuit - nico and the niners - levitate (also there are connected in the end with bandito and leave the city) . So basically it would be better to react this order in the end , after vessel and blurryface albums )
@@thefablesphere great , waitin for trees ) It would be great to react by albums 1st lane : - holding on to you (music video - cuz it first big video work from TOP) - guns for hands (music video) - trees (live from fox theatre - song with one of the biggest meaning for Ty , he wrote it a looong time ago in high school ) 2nd line : blurryface album - stressed out ( huge song that made them so popular right now ) - hometown ( to feel different styles in their music ) - lane boy ( mus vid ) - tear in my heart (mus vid) - the judge - fairy local (mus vid) - massage man - goner (live from fox theatre , ending of the album ) - Heavydirtysoul ( mus video - this one is connection to the next album ) 3rd line : Trench album - jumpsuit ( mus vid , connected to hvdrtsl ) - nico and the niners (next one in saga ) - levitate ( next one in saga ) - heathens ( not from any of albums, but connected with storyline ) In all of this one keep a lot attention to details ) - morph - bandito (big connection in storyline) - leave the city ( ending of era ) It's even more of their music , but i wrote what i think the most significant .
He's talking about suicide. The ' neon gravestones' refers to that kids think that this is a way that people would 'celebrate' them - it's like Las Vegas and the neon lights calling people to come gamble
Basically he is talking against the media romantizising or glorifying suicide saying that "the rise in awareness" of suicide that is trying to help battle this terrible thing has started to give people more reason to do it. Shows like 13 reasons why etc. If you follow the storyline of Trench you will find that this song is used to portray the fake religion created by tyler known as vialism in this religion the goal is to eventually commit suicide and impact as many people as possible, tyler uses this song to show vialism as being wrong which it is. Also great vids man, from a fellow South African love your stuff
You’re correct, most of their songs have a suicidal undertone…. But I think this song just outright tells it like it is, there’s no tip toeing around the concept, they just straight say it
"There's an underlying suicidal tone" Not in this song, for it is NOT an undertone, it is literally the main point of the song, not politics or corporations or that stuff, it is about suicide, plain and simple
they risked their career making this song. the media could have easily said they disrespect people who battle with this. they dont respect or mourn for those whove lost to themselves, but no. hes not targetting the people who are battleing and have lost, hes targetting the people who are glorifying it. the people who only care after their gone, nit whdn they coukd do something. the act of su*c*de itself, not the people battleing it. how people dont have as much respect for those who won their battles and lived life till the very end. its such a touchy subject, that they had to make this song so carefully, as to not get the wrong idea. i have so much respect for these two, they are saving my life every day with their music. stay alive ||-//
I love the fact that you listen to your fans. I know we're a bit demanding but you listen i asked you to listen to these guys because they are special and you did. I asked ten other to no no and no. Why not OMG TYLER AND JOSH SO FUCKING UNIQUE, PUZZLING BUT SUCH POWERFUL LYRICS UNLIKE ANYONE ELSE. Just like you. You're in a League of your own. You're channel will grow because your passion is what draws us to you. As your fans we love and appreciate you👏🏼🙏❤️
I came to your RU-vid channel for AURORA and stayed for Twenty One Pilots. How the hell did I miss these guys for all these years.. the artistical genius is mind blowing 🤯
If you want another TOP song with ukulele I suggest you listen to House Of Gold It's a song I love and you'll really appreciate how they can work with a different sound but still get their story across ☺️
Great reaction, this band been growing on me for the last year or so, found them through Grace =) regarding more female artists you spoke of earlier i got another one for you Laura Pergolizzi also known as LP- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wDjeBNv6ip0.html cant understand why she hasnt become more known than she is. Btw thanks for helping me discover Bishop Briggs that girl is freaking good
Kinda sad he never got the entire meaning of the song. Dude taking corporate and stuff when it's really about suicide. Right after someone takes their own life we celebrate their loss, but up banners and boost up their reputation. He sees this as wrong since we're telling kids that you could do this to boost up their reputation too, and to use it as a weapon. A sort of gruesome "I'll show them!" When people should never even get the idea in the first place. It also mentions how he was also tempted by suicide, and how he thought he could "Go out with a bang, and they would know my name." But now that he's moved past that he sees how no one should ever have that mindset. They are bright pretty neon gravestones, as he's tempted to join them. (For full disclosure this is not an "ultimate conclusion" this is just how I see the song and how the song has helped me cope with my own personal hardship. I was also tempted by the thought of suicide at one point in my life, and the only thing that kept me from going with it was my family. I didn't want to disappoint them, leave them like that in destitute. So I didn't, so the song speaks to me that way.) Note: It's OK for people to have opinions, one person can take suicide while another may take politics. I don't think it matters what the "real" meaning is. The song was made to send a message, to connect with viewers, and help them in their tough times as well. So there is no real meaning, it's just what the song has meant and done for you that counts. Thanks for coming to my 10 months late Ted Talk.
@5:30 I disagree, choosing to be neutral is just as much of a choice as taking a side. That kind of mentality is an issue in society, everyone is biased towards one thing or another because they feel the need to "take a side" in every situation, if more people were neutral and unbiased we could make better decisions as a whole. There's a concept in Confusianism called "Wu-wei" or basically "the action of no action". Choosing to stay neutral can also be a meaningful decision. Balance is key.
Wasn’t referring to it with regards to opinions ... was referring to it with regards to standing for something you believe in without being swayed by society.. I based it on a belief system not general opinions ☺️
@@thefablesphere Dude, there is a experience about this song that is awesome, u should do it and fell that music, no need to do a react about it (www.imabandi.to/ ). And then, it's the bandito audio link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VQHTROo0S8E.html , if u want to make a react about it
im not trying to sound like an asshole or whatever but.... ffs man, I literally couldn't watch the whole video! Which kinda sucks since you seem like nice guy.. But wow 😳, this songs lyrics are pretty straight forward! I have seen many reactions to this and I am pretty sure that you were the only one of those to NOT get the message!? Sorry but I couldn't finish the video cause it was so full of cringe 😰 Also on a side note, this was the only negative comment that I have ever written, so no I'm not just trying to hurt someone on the regular
Could be.. I can get it wrong sometimes. That was my interpretation off the bat, from a first listen. I have spoken to a few people about it and I see how other people interpret it and that’s fair... I kind of liked my version but it’s not set in stone... ☺️☺️
