My absolute favorite thing they’ve done is Brooklyn sessions. It’s 5 or 6 songs, reimagined or stripped down. Tyler, a piano, and a looping station. Building songs in front of you. Layers of an incredible. Treat yourself at some point, on or off camera.
Ahhh my beloved Shy Away! People love to hate on SAI but it’s amazing, it’s own unique kind of amazingness, and of course, it’s a lore heavy album, it’s key to the narrative… but hey, it’s okay, people can think what they want, SAI deserves more love. Also, check out their version of this song on the livestream experience. Tyler made a change that MANY fans wish it was part of the original recording, including me!
when youre done with this album, I really wanna recommend the scaled and icy livestream concert, the whole duration of the concert would be the best experience cuz it has lore in it... the version of shy away in that concert is so dope too

i think you get the spirit of the album pretty well. it came out in 2021, TOP didn't feel like putting out another depressing album during such a hard time. if you wanna talk about the "canon" reason though, it's because the whole thing is propaganda by dema/the bishops
This song was written to encourage his brother to write music...and yet it may be one of the best TOP songs all-time. I'm sure Tyler's brother appreciates the message but how could he possibly come up with anything remotely as good as this?!?!?!?!?
People can complain all they want but this is one of my favorite songs. There is a lot of hate from folks for this album and I don’t get it. It came out during Covid, in a time where we needed something uplifting and positive and I think they delivered on that. Yes it’s different but if you’ve been following them since the beginning, they’ve evolved and changed over time with every album and one should expect that. I DON’T want the same thing over and over again. Their continued growth And versatility while also maintaining their dedication to their fans is refreshing and why I’m still around so many years later, now as a 42 year old mom whose children are also fans.
Shy away was the song that introduced us to the scaled and icy era. My first impression was that the song was so good and different and the video looked like the 90s kind of. We saw Trash the dragon for the first time here as well. You need to react to their livestream experience. Im not sure if you can find it here in youtube and its long but you can choose to react to it in multiple videos, one single video or just watch it for yourself. Shy Away still one of kids favorite songs along with next semester. I believe the next song is Saturday. Remember that Saturday music video is part of the lore. When he gets recaptured in Levitate, it shows what Dema has done to him. Cant wait!
SAI is a great album! I don't get it when people complain about a new sound or style from their favorite artist. Plus, were talking about TOP, even Tyler doesn't know what kind of music they do 😂 they are their own style of music. They can do whatever they want, I always love it ❤ I would get bored if they didn't experiment new sound!
I'm one of the few who say that SAI is my favorite TOP album. The lore says this album was Tyler/Clancy being forced by the Bishops of DEMA to record "happy" songs for their entertainment and to keep the residents of DEMA from wanting to leave. Basically it was propaganda for DEMA and their belief in Vialism. Personally I think it gives the lyrics a little more meaning when you think of someone being coerced to write them.
Here’s the weird thing about them for me . Since vessel every album I like right off the bat , BUT I really learn to appreciate them later . I didn’t like many of the songs on Trench the first time around , but love the album Now . Also the next song on this is pure fire .
"manitfest a celing", "break the cycle you have", "and i love you" I feel like its a song about depression, but tyler is telling the person he'll be okay during the on going cycle
The Outside mv has a lot of lore in it as well as the Saturday mv, but The Outside comes after. So idk if you'd rather just watch them in order of the album or do Saturday first but just know so you can make a decision. Also I hope after this album you check out the single Level of Concern(and its live version) but also the livestream edition album. It's a bunch of songs from the livestream experience they did with this albums release but I'm not sure if you could actually react to the stream itself as they haven't uploaded it in full themselves. But it is on yt in full. As well as other smaller things I hope you get to either before or after Clancy, like the location sessions.
Yes, this album is great! I love the sounds and the lore and most definitely the messages! Shy Away is phenomenal, just wait til you hear the mtvunplugged version! Tears. Just tears. My fave line is 'when you get home, you barely recognize the pictures they put in a frame 'cause you shed your modesty.' It never ceases to amaze me at how profoundly Tyler can write lines like they're right out of my life. How many times I've stood before that picture wall wondering how I ever made it. But I did, and I'm still here. |-/ 💛

one of my favourites from this album and great energy live. tyler screams and dances his heart out on stage! The dragon you see flying in the background's name is Trash and he's from the album cover and represents imagination and makes some more appearances in the album.
This might very well be the best TOP song ever...would probably get my vote. Unfortunately, I still think SAI is not as good as Trench, Vessel or Burryface but still a solid album overall. The first 3 tracks are solid though. Hopefully you can react to the livestream performance as well. Appreciate your reaction videos.
Always enjoy your appreciation for the smaller, harder to hear sounds. I'm sure most people appreciate them too, but bringing more focus to them is refreshing to say the least. A few more coming from this album I'm excited for you to hear. Glad you're enjoying TØP
As others have said SAI is an amazing album, it just hits different than most of their other stuff. I think you'll really enjoy it. I think you're really going to dig Mulberry Street and The Outside.

This is probably one of my favorite songs by them and that's hard to pick one but I love the beat, I love the harmony, everything about this song is fire. Though even hearing the studio version on the video my brain goes to the live version and I want to hear him scream, but this album is underrated for sure but one of my favorites. It's not even my first album. I started listening when vessel dropped, but I almost got a SAI tattoo because it was important in my life dealing with the isolation and pandemic.
This album in the story is supposed to be a point where Clancy is captured by Dema and being used. So the album sounds more like propaganda on purpose. It's supposed to sound a little more pop.
im glad you like SAIso far, it has a bad reputation because people were upset they had a different sound, its more upbeat, poppy which is far from what they had ever made before, but people really didnt give it a chance its a fantastic album with some absolute bangers, they have a different sound butt he deep meanings are def still there!!
also its about his brother not being too afraid to follow his dreams. manifest a ceiling is saying ..the sky is the limit, there are no ceilings. thats why he said when I get home, you better not be there, he better be out making moves and making his dreams come true.

It took me a couple of listens but I really do appreciate this album for what it is just a fun awesome album that honestly did not deserve the hate it got It wasn't my favorite but I didn't outright hate it it's a very good album in my opinion
The whole idea of the album is theyre stuck in Dema and being forced to make these happy sounding songs to entertain the people - so yeah a lot of the songs they look disinterested The song is actually about Tylers brother Jay and encouraging him to pursue a career in music
Love to see all the comments supporting SAI. Sadly SAI was just too different from Trench for some fans who just wanted more of the same sound. I really hope Tyler and Josh realise a lot of people love the album. All the bands and artists I follow change their sound every album, I've never seen the appeal in hearing the same vibe over and over again.
I think this was too poppy for the long-time fans. React to the live stream as well. I think it’s clear that scaled and icy is what happened when the bishops got ahold of Tyler. It’s fun songs but hey send messages to the fans. To me, the chorus is saying, if you hold back and don’t give something your all (you shy away) you put limits on yourself (manifest a ceiling). And it leads to things like a song not being heard. That’s my gut feeling anyway.
