They don’t cover it well in the movie but they do a much better job of it in the book. Bella has been told that as a newborn vampire she will just be an uncontrollable killing machine and won’t want sex or anything for who knows how long, and after that she won’t feel anything. So she thinks there is a window of opportunity that will be lost for her to share that with Edward. That’s why she keeps trying to seduce him.

the thing about edward and bella is that they are a mated pair, and vampires mate for life in this universe. it's not just fickle teenager love. also, alice and charlie being the best characters in the franchise is the correct take. alice and esme (carlisle's wife) both have very heartbreaking backstories that are never addressed in the movies, and that makes me sad.

The young vampire killed at the end is Bree Tanner. Stefanie regretted killing her off and even write a short novella about her but obviously it was too late. Bree thought her mother abandon her and her father when she was young, but the truth is her dad killed her mom and then they moved from Nevada to Idaho. He buried her mom in the desert. But she could no longer take the abuse. She was isolated she didn’t have any friends, so she ran away.. she got a ticket and headed to Seattle… she tried to get a job. It was having no luck. One night while dumpster diving for something to eat, Riley found her and offered her a hamburger, took her into a back alley, and Victoria changed her. After a few months, she got a boyfriend, named Diego. They also had a friend named Fred. Fred’s power, it was literally to repel people. Make them not want to be around him…. After a few months, they found out that the sunlight would not kill them like Riley told them it would so Bree and Diego went to tell Riley that they could in fact be in the sun, and that’s where they found him and Victoria in a meeting with Jane and the others. So yes. Jane knew. And she encouraged it. She was jealous that Aro wanted Edward and Alice …Riley killed Diego but Bree had no idea. Riley told her that he had gone with Victoria to watch the Cullens… Fred was gonna leave and invited Bree to go with him but she said no. She was gonna go find Diego..she wanted to get Diego and then go meet up with Fred to see the world together. Fred was waiting on them. Anyways. At the end when she has surrendered to the Cullens…and Jane and the rest show up, jasper is ready to kill her because all she can think about is Bella’s blood. And then, when she knew her time had ran out. She told Edward everything through her thoughts. So Edward knew Jane. Felix and the others knew, and even advised them…Her final thought was to Edward, asking him to please be kind to Fred if they ever come across him. She was not going to fight that day, she just wanted to find Diego and go meet up with Fred and leave. Diego and Bree had figured out what Riley and Victoria were no good ….but by then, it was too late…Diego, her mate, was dead. Which is why she didn’t care when she met her end. Her whole life had been spent in pain and abuse… and she wanted to join Diego….

If he has to prove he and Bella are perfect together by forcing himself on her in some way, or manipulating her into saying how she feels, why in his mind would that make him good for her? If it would be “so easy” being with him, he would not have had to do any of those things for her to choose him in the first place. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Even if he believes Bella loves him but she’s telling him she doesn’t, the conversation should end right there.

There's a lot of reasoning, and background info that you miss out in the movie's rendition - but it's explained in the books. Such as the fact that due to Jacob's wolf senses, he actually picks up on her heartrate and hormonal responses/scent to him whenever he's near - so in an animalistic way, he IS listening to her, and feels justified in pushing those boundaries, because he thinks "if I can just get her to see it in herself, or admit it out LOUD..." yeah. He thinks its a mental denial only, basically - and you can see her realizing it FINALLY after that kiss before he went off to the battle... like: "Oh. Shit." LOL! Also, Belle says in the first book/video that she dislikes any cold/wet thing (weather) because she is generally cold, and gets cold easily - she's the type that takes a LONG time to warm up, so trying to maintain proper body temps while laying still - even with her winter camping gear in a windy snowstorm - is basically impossible. In the New Moon editions, it points out that all those moments of shirtlessness in the rain that Jacob's doing also has a faint cloud of steam, because their temps are so much higher then a normal person's runs, normally. So its not QUITE as dysfunctional in the books... but the movies just made it worse.

Decided to just look it up cause I know how he became one but I really didn't want to type it and explained it and say everything correctly so had Google do that for me but I still like his story

I think it is important to know that although Edward may be 100 years old, he has never been in a relationship. Also it is not portrayed well in movies, but Bella’s blood to Edward is stronger than any other human blood because she is his soul mate-the books calls it his singer because her blood sings to him.

Through out the books it’s clearer to see that the strongest friendship she’s ever had before coming to Forks is her mother Renee . However Bella is more mature emotionally than her mom and often had to be the parent,until of course when Renee married Phil. When she falls in love with Edward it’s the first time she’s felt any romantic feelings or had a boyfriend.

Jasper is one of my favourite characters. His backstory is fascinating! I wish the books delved more into his story, he had the potential of having a brilliant character arc. But like most problematic things in this series it was just glossed over. Like the fact he was a literal confederate soldier... Lol Stephanie Meyer really was like "I'm just gonna ignore that, moving on...". Gosh Carlisle too has such an amazing history! You could write a whole new series based on him! Hell even Edward has an interesting backstory. Ah well, can't have everything.

I'm so glad you realised how manipulative jacob was being with the whole kiss thing. Lots of other reaction channels blame bella entirely saying she asked him with the intent of leading him on. It's way more obvious in the books and it brought be so much relief that you pointed out both jacob and edward's flaws, not just edwards. 🙂

When I was reading the books, I got so furious about Edward messing with Bella's car to prevent her from seeing Jacob, that I actually got up and paced. It took me a while to get back to reading it because I was so ticked.

About the part when they burn the vamp bodies, its not highlighted in the movies but the vampires in the twilight universe can put themselves back together again even if pulled apart and in the book Victorias arms are crawling back to her body with the head when Edward put it on fire. And the vampire venom is whats so flamable and the reason why it goes into flames so easily. I was a crazy twilight fan in my teens and I have every lore book, regular book and bts thing from Stephanie and the film production from back then 😅

I don't think Edward is good for Bella but he's at least more mature than Jacob and didn't force himself on her. I don't want to spoil it too much in case you want to read the books. Bella has a much stronger reaction to her breaking Jacob's heart in the book.

I'm not sure Edward sees her as specifically beneath him but even though they are near the same physical age he IS much older than her. I think the problem is that he can't read her mind. He's learned to rely on that power in all his interpersonal relationships and he doesn't have that with Bella. He's found himself completely in the dark for the first time and doesn't know what to do with it. He doesn't know exactly how she feels. He sees the worst in himself and since he can't read her mind to know any differently, he thinks she must not be seeing him clearly as the monster he thinks he is. Bella has major self esteem issues herself. SHE is the one who is constantly thinking he's better than her and she's nothing compared to him. Jane was played by Dakota Fanning. In the last movie, when she was using her power to inflict pain for the first time, the music they played was the same music that was played when she did incredible things as the character Allie in the 2002 mini-series "Taken." I really recommend that series, btw. That show basically made Dakota Fanning's career. She's older in this, obviously, but she was a child when in Taken. The BEST mini-series ever made. I re-watch it every couple years 🥰 Bella doesn't want Jacob to die. They sort of grew up together. They were friends as little kids. She definitely handled it wrong when she kissed him (I mean she's very young so she's going to screw up a lot), but I get why she did it. She didn't want him going into battle with a death wish. I was more angry with Edward for not waiting until after the battle to make sure Jacob knew they were getting married. I also get why he did it too. Even though he doesn't trust Jacob, he has a certain amount of respect for him after the conversation of the night before and thought he should know. But he should NOT have let him find out until after the battle!

I found this channel today with your reaction to the first movie in the twilight saga, and I have to say I am really really enjoying your review of the films. Its refreshing to see a self-aware, balanced reaction; and an open-minded approach rather than coming in already strongly biased one way or another. Sure the story has flaws, and obviously its not going to be everybody's cup of tea; but you are able to break it down and see all sides and enjoy what is there to be enjoyed. I have watched all three of your reactions and am looking forward to the rest of the movies in this saga. And I have subscribed, because I think I am going to enjoy seeing more stuff from you. 😌

In Midnight sun you are in edwards head and it explains his controlling behavior. Bella cant walk without falling . After he saves her life the first time he feels responsible for her. Alice keeps saying that she sees bella being a vampire and he is determined to change that fate. Then while he is watching out for her, he falls in love with her. Edwatd died at 17. He never gad love before. He is just a 19th century teenager. She is the type of girl he would have liked as a human. Also everytime aluce has a vision he sees it also. She is constantly seeing bellas future. Bella tends to get herself in dangerous situations.

If you're wishing Jacob had a different love interest just wait until you find out who Jacob does fall in love with...

I don't think Edward necessarily thinks he is "wiser" just that you can't fathom the pain & horror of becoming a vampire until it happens to you vs the glamorous "up sides" that can lure people until thinking is "worth it" & he truly cares about Bella, enough to say only a single human lifetime would be perfect because her being to keep her humanity is worth not being selfish & turning her.

5:35 that is partly true, but at the same time not. The books do an amazing job at showing how much the Cullens care for Bella. They treat her like family, and all the “kids” (minus Rosalie) treat her like a real sister they’ve known all along. She gained 7 people in less than a year. Angela, her friend from school, is also an amazing friend to her through the first 3 books. There’s a deleted scene for Eclipse of Bella and Angela hanging out, and they have a real talk. Jacob was a true best friend, it just got real dicey towards the end. However that also means that Bella has many friends among the wolves, like Seth! Sorry, I didn’t mean to write an essay. But I just wanted to make it known that she’s had friends. Eric and mike aren’t all that bad either, once Eric dates Angela. Mike just can’t get over Bella, and so Jessica is a crappy friend because of it, & plus she’s very self absorbed.

For your next tv series watch the vampire diaries if you want a better vampire/wearwolf plot way better than twilight. ❤

Prior, Jasper was barely speaking because every moment every ounce of energy was used to NOT kill humans. When he did, it was very short & controlled - it always sounded almost stocacco to me prior to him gaining & showing more control and the ability to be casual in this film.

Edward is a product of his time - over 100 years - women were to be protected. Jacob in wolf terms is acting as an alpha wolf see what you want and take it - he is in a way a new born wolf so the control is not there. She loves them both just Edward more.

During the first Twilight novel and Midnight Sun, when Edward is telling Bella about Alice and Jasper and their backstory and how they joined the coven, Edward tells Bella that Alice has no memories of her human life because the painful transition to becoming a vampire wiped all her memories, so Alice’s first memory is of her waking up a vampire and watching her skin glitter in the sunlight, and then having a vision, a vision of her in a diner when Jasper walks in, it was a vision of their first meeting, he mouthed her name and that’s how she found out who she was, and she recalls that when she saw Jasper for the first time, she recalls his face as being scarred but beautiful, to make a long story short, they were always meant to be

The shirt off thing is because the wolves tie the jean shorts to their legs with a cord and it would be annoying to carry more clothes than that. One thing they failed at in this movie was showing when Edward begins to treat Bella’s decisions with more respect. He doesn’t finish this transition in this book, but he begins it here. At the beginning he’s willing to disable her truck to keep her away from Jacob and then farther into the book he doesn’t try to prevent her from spending many hours with him. He wasn’t happy about it but he didn’t try and prevent it. There are enough Cullens they could have gone hunting in shifts to keep Bella protected without having to involve the wolves. She wants to spend that time with Jacob instead and despite disliking it intensely he doesn’t try to be controlling about it. Saddles for the wolves? LOL Bella wants to sleep with Edward before she is changed because she doesn’t think it will be the same after she is changed. Edward is afraid he will hurt her, so he is reluctant. In the book he also says it’s the only commandment he hasn’t broken, and he wants to keep it that way. That’s why he wants to marry her first. YES! You saw right through Jacob’s manipulation. I thought I was going to need to explain it. So many reactors are mad at Bella about that kiss. They completely overlook how he acts like he’s going to go off and let himself die on purpose. LOL did you realize you called Victoria Jessica? One thing I’ve been thinking about but never said anywhere, Edward didn’t kill James. Edward was helping Bella and Jasper, Alice, and Emmett killed James. This fact grates on my nerves so many times when I watch this movie. LOL In the book Bella didn’t cut herself. She only prepared to cut herself. I do think the movie way is better story telling this time. “Oh no! not the puppy!” sounding all concerned. Two seconds later with relief, “Oh, its Jacob” LOL

I think Edward is right to break Bella's car in that scene. If my 94 year old grandma wants to climb a chair at 3 in the morning to clean the kitchen windows, of course I won't let her do it. Bella was trying to go to the middle of the woods, at night, when a vampire was trying to murder her. Even if Edward tied her to a chair I'd still think he was right!

Another great reaction. I disagree with many people however about Edward and Jacob manipulating Bella. I think that they weren't trying to manipulate her but rather they were just very passionate about her and were acting on how they were genuinely feeling. To me manipulation is something completely different than that. Manipulation is when you're main goal is to control another person and your actions are based on that desire to control that person. I really feel that Edward and Jacob's actions were coming from their true and honest passion for Bella, not from a desire to control her. Jacob and the wolves in general are very passionate whereas the vampires are not so emotional but are more refined and reserved about expressing their emotions. My favorite line from this movie was when Jacob told Edward "I am hotter than you" I thought that was hilarious, even though I don't necessarily agree with the statement. I hope to see you react to the last two movies in the series.

Eclipse I think was the best one. You get everyone's backstory. If Stephenie Meyer ever decided to do a prequel of Alice's, Jasper's, or Rosalie's story, I would 1000% read it.

Ah, yes, one of the only popular teenage love story movies out there that actually normalized the concept of saving sex for marriage. It was refreshing to see that, especially as someone like myself (a devout Christian) who also waited until marriage to have that experience. I wonder if the author’s Mormon faith is part of the reason that’s in there? My husband also proposed to me with my mother’s engagement ring. She passed away from cancer 4 years ago. I miss her everyday. That whole scene is very sweet. ❤️

Yes, Jacob is way out of line in this movie (and the lines are cringey as hell but that's the writing) but apparently the reason why he changed so dramatically is because Stephanie Meyer didn't like that people were rooting for him and Bella instead of Edward and Bella, so she had to try to make him unlikable in the future movies. I still think Jacob is far less problematic and suits Bella better than Edward does. And while constantly pursuing someone like Jacob is doing is not cute or romantic, he IS right. Bella DOES have feelings for him that she doesn't want to admit. Whether that's love I don't know but it's obvious. Yeah, she kisses him because he threatens to kill himself (which is cruel and manipulative on his part) but she's also clearly enjoying that kiss. Bella is kind of having her cake and eating it too. Her words say she wants Edward but her actions are all over the place. She IS leading Jacob on in a way and I think it's because she just doesn't know what the hell she wants. Also, before you applaud Edward for being more mature, you have to remember that spiritually and emotionally he is over a 100 years old, while Jacob is only 16/17. This is where we start really getting into the team Edward team Jacob scenarios. I myself am a team Jasper. He is drawn to Alice's good heart and nature. Love his Southern charm. That's another thing is people always talked about how these guys are toxic but it's not necessarily the case. They are drawn to their mates. These are not humans, and yes Bella at the time is human but there's something about Edward that naturally drawers her to him. It's and unseeable bond. Just like when Jacob is talking about imprinting. It just happens with their natural mate they are meant to be with. I've seen that concept in many stories. And before you ask how Edward and Jacob could have the same mate, just keep watching. The answer will unfold in time. Glad you're enjoying the story

I was always team Edward, but actually didn't mind Jacob in New Moon. Thought he was alright as a best friend character. But in Eclipse that just goes straight out the window 😫 I can somewhat understand him being worried about Bella, if she's rushing into things etc, but the way he's so pushy to the point where apparently it's only his thoughts and feelings that matter is awful! He goes from being a best friend to downright creep. None of the 3 main characters are without flaws, but the way Jacob goes about stuff in eclipse is just gross.
