I’m re-reading all the books and Edward being revealed as a vampire is my favorite change from the book because in the book, it’s right after they eat dinner, in the car, and Bella’s like “hey…are u a vampire :/“ and Edward is pretty much like “ya lol” and that’s the entire conversation. Edward in the books is actually kind of silly and charming(?) Also part of the reason James chases Bella so hard is because James knew Alice as a human and she was the only human to ever escape him (she was turned into a vampire before he could kill her) and going after Bella is partially revenge since they’re friends now and partially because Bella’s fear of him is fueling his enjoyment of the hunt

Leaving conversations as he pleases, Edward has real Snufkin vibes, but in a bad way

I love how he's constantly walking away from her and going, " We shouldn't be friends, I'm a killer blah blah ', but then he's always stalking her, sneaks into her room to watch her sleep, always stares at her... it's like smh, make up your mind, you weirdo.

Bella literally says there’s 1,120 people in the town…that’s how everyone at school knows her plus her dad is the sheriff lol (this was one of my favorite movies growing up 😂)

Now I want someone to make an edit of Twilight where they cut every scene that just lingers for an uncomfortable amount of time. It would also be cool if they released the "un-blue" cut if such a thing even exists, I wonder how much the tone of the movie would shift as a result.

As someone who read these books before the movies came out, the books actually suck upon rereading them as an adult. The woman who wrote these books was a Mormon from Arizona who heard my chemical romance 1 time and couldn’t stop dreaming abt vampires bc of that. It’s also obviously racist against native people, and every single person is far more abusive to Bella in the books. They were definitely popular bc of the new genre, but twilight is not actually a good series at all

Something I will point out is that it’s stated later in one of the books that when Edward was turned he was mentally frozen at 17 which means technically he’s not a grown man in a young person’s body because he hasn’t fully matured or developed yet. Not sure if this makes things worse or better in terms of their relationship morally or ethically but take it as you will.

in the movie, it basically tells you why Bella is attracted to Edward. So when you were saying, it makes sense that Edward will be attracted to Bella, it also makes sense why Bella would be attracted to Edward. Because Edward is a vampire, everything about him, his smell, the way he looks, his breath, his voice, literally, every single thing about him is specifically designed to attract humans no matter their gender, so Edward, who is a vampire, will be able to feast and survive. Edward tells Bella this during the forest scene I think. This is some thing I actually wish the books tackled more, and try to prove if both of their love is actually genuine, but unfortunately, they do not do that.

Twilight came out when I was in middle school and I hated it. Hated the fandom around it. My mom took me to the movies when they came out cause she liked them and bought me the books (cause they were $1 at the library; last book wasn’t too bad from what I remember which made watching the last movie frustrating haha). I think the canon reason Bella's mind can't be read is cuz she can like...cancel people's powers?? Which she gets as a vampire so idk why she has it as a human Another theory I have tho is that she's deeply depressed. Even early on you get this sense that she doesn't care a lot for her own life much - putting herself in danger, struggling to form connections, her overall bleak attitude about her life. Even in the very first bits of the movie where she talks about wanting her death to be protecting someone she loves, cuz she considers it to have meaning. Maybe she feels like her life is meaningless and just...doesn't think much about anything, and sort of just goes through the motions. Which is really sad, when you think about it. My partner, who studied psychology, even mentioned the reason she's so drawn to Edward could be that, good or bad, he makes her feel *something*. Which makes it pretty common for people with depression like her to pursue not-so-healthy relationships.

I'm currently doing research on the evolution of the vampire myth for a research paper in college so I'm excited to hear your thoughts on Twilight!!

As someone who grew up in a super small town/school district (that did have a neighbouring small town with a different school district as well), we DID all know each other, and anytime a new student moved into the district, everyone immediately knew their name and was super talkative to them since it got pretty boring knowing 95% of the student body since kindergarten just to clear that up lol

As a former insane twihardᵗᵐ and current normal twilight fan it’s genuinely so hard for me not to write a whole essay answering all your questions from the commentary 😅 One weirdly insignificant thing I’ll give the first movie kudos for is the scene on the beach where Bella and the rest of the group are wearing super weather appropriate clothing for both a) surfing in a Washington beach and b) just being in a Washington beach - presumably in the late fall. This coming from a western Washington and having suffered several rainy seasons here, it was so perfect to see hoods, no umbrellas, slightly yucky wet hair, etc. I feel the rest of the movies were a little glowed up and kinda lost that ‘indie’ feel that Catherine H (director) was going for in this one. Anyways that’s it. If you need twilight answers for anything lmk ☠️

In the Twilight saga you can notice that each movie was directed by different director (mostly, I don’t remember all of them). That’s why we don’t have that sometimes illogical blue filtter (e.g. in Arizona or in inside scenes) from 1st movie in New Moon and some characters look like as if they had personality disorders (not that original material was any help to screenwriters and directors). Reason for that is that they were not done with production of one movie before starting another one - Lord of the ring style - and producers had to hire new directors to film another movie. I have to give it to Twilight author for giving one thing to vampires that makes sense - not having fangs - if they have enough force to tear out a tree they can bite through a skin without pointy teeth. But sparkly skin is still the biggest con of Twilight vampire lore. Also I feel so bad for Bella - her frontal lobe is not even developed before this 109 yo eternal teenager equiped with all things that attract humans as Edward put it starts to orbit her - like how was she supposed to not want relationship with him. As character Bella is horrible but I still feel bad for her. Also in short time Edward is with Bella he is able to go from edgy abusive goth boy to emotionaly available mature man - in all of his 108 years he had the ability to change but he chose not to and I will fight whoever dissagrees with me. Seriously when you watch first and last movie there is collosal difference in his personality. Unpopular opinion (and spoilers🥶): Bella chose Edward just because Jacob can’t turn her into immortal creature as in Twilight werewolfs don’t age as long as they shift. If she was not so obsessed with her aging, Jacob (in movies) would have bigger chance. But ultimately Bella should have seeked therapist instead of getting married to anyone or better yet she should have stayed single after New moon and seeked therapy.

I had to hold myself back from immediately closing the video when you said you’ve never seen the Lion King movies, just because they’re so near and dear to me. Watch the first one seriously. Then watch and do a video on Lion King 1 1/2. It’s arguably the best of the Direct to DVD Disney sequels. I enjoy Lion King 2, but it’s a more average D2DVD sequel, so it’s shippable. Where Lion King is Hamlet, Lion King 2 is Romeo & Juliet.
