First test run with my custom made twin engine truggy. Both engine are modified by ABmods. I have some bug to fix, pulling hard on the left on accel, too wide ratio, seal carbs. eliminate center diff.
very nice.... good work. i like it when people do something dfferent instead of all being sheep. hey, at 00:52 what wheels and tires are they? and are they 17mm hex? cheers fella
Do you really get double power just thinking if both engines are on the same spur gear and spinning at the same rate is it really double power just asking because I wanted to do this but I looked at like having two 12 volt batteries hooked up parallel it doesn't give more power only when in series
Theres a lot of factor that come into play, but its 2 time the power on the same spur, the added engine and tank add some weight but it is quicker than one engine only, a lot of power, i have a video of it with a 2 speed transmission geared for bashing and it got up to 67mph with not a lot of runway, and the chassis was not set up right, it was torque steering on acceleration...
Having two motors increases acceleration and allows a higher top speed since there is more power to counter-act the drag of air. You could also run a higher gear ratio/ bigger tires to gain a higher top speed because you have the extra power.
I run all Lrp's now 28s3 and a 30x.. the 30x is getting modded but i did scoop a picco p3 for $30 that needs a con-rod. The same seller has 2 p3 27's i might grab also.. ive heard modded those will scream like a .21
i just did a quick search for those wheels and not much came up. tower has some similar but are only 3 spoke with the chrome rim. im looking for all black. can you please tell me where i can purchase these from? thanks again.
@MikePeperni thank you so much, i found them. calles MT 3 splits by ofna in yellow green and white. but no one sells them in germany, too bad.. sadly i dont know when i get a change to buy them myself in the states.. we'll see, but thanks alot anyways. have a look at my picco p3 .28: watch?v=ydATQ1ZqEqs
@chonyc77 thx, but, in this first run it was overgeared, with a center diff, and it is built like a truggy, so dont expect it to do wheelie as easily as a savage... i guarantee you it will keep up with a brushless on 6S. It was a first run so it was not setup right... Here it is on my bashing setup, geared for acceleration it still got 67 mph with ease and enought power to wheelie even with slipping tires. browse in my videos and look for ''twin engine truggy radar test run''
No problem, i used 6061 aluminium for the chassis, for the motor it doesnt matter, because they never spin at the exact same rpm anyway, and the vibration is not too bad. :)
they both have an ABmods drag mod, im an ABmods racing driver. It was way overgeared in this test run, one engine had a leak and it was near freezing temperature. i did another test later with a 2 speed transmission, you can see it on my channel, i think its radar test ... :) and i can mod nitro engine as well. :)
Theres a slight difference, the FTT version(bumpstart) have a turbo head button and a slightly different timing profile, but its not like night and day difference... :) The pullstart version is still plenty powerful.
Thank you for the reply about the throttle sync, another question I have is why you don't start both engines together, were they broke in the same or was one already running and the other came when you made you monster?
These motors run wayy more efficient after some timing changes and porting. If you keep it wot all the time it will be. IErcm mods piccos clockwerks does also.. Ab mods etc.
Thank you :) All you need to do, is line up the engine with the gear, both engine each side, they will both spin the spur gear the same way(center diff) the weakest engine will push/help the stronger engine, no matter which engine is slower, you dont need to do anyhing it will work. Id suggest to tune the engine one at the time tough. :)
@@MikePeperni yesss. Thanks. I thought but wanted to confirm. And the spur gear is metal? Which brand. I want to build something like that. Just for show purpose but has to work.
@cafeboni Thx :) They are made by ofna, i think it was MT3 split .... not sure. they have them in different color, mine were white and i dyed them in black . :)
I know it doesn't make much difference but it looks so cool smoke coming out of both sides it's just the idea is awesome nice job. I'm thinking you just drilled for hose for the motor mount
It was not setup well tough, it was not doing it any justice at that time, done properly its a huge power difference. I wish i had the time and the money to try again with the parts available now! :)
i was thinking about a twin engine build myself. however i wanted to do it different than this. I've seen a few side by sides. but i want to do one engine for front wheels and one for rear wheels. I'm new to the hobby and just wanted to do something i haven't seen but also wondering if there's a reason i haven't seen it. thanks awesome build!
There is a reason. Nitro engines are not stable, so if the rear wheels get more power, it may spin out, and you will drag your rear wheels if the fronts speed up. It is an overall catastrophe.
That will be nice :) i did it all by myself, started with doing a jig then used it to do the new chassis, i used a trimmer (small router) to do the outside edge.
+Maxx Mathers Hehe!! oui faut croire! le résultat final était plus violent avec ce truck la, j'ai un autre video avec une transmission 2 vitesses et il pogne 67mph comme comme si de rien était.
