That was a 12 speed Mack transmission. Some had the second shifter for the low and later ones had an air switch on the dash. You shift the main 1-5 and split low and high just like a super 10.
The Mack 12 speed always had the option of either the second stick or an air toggle switch for the low holes. Helped several of my customers spec them out
@@russvoight1167 Thanks I have seen them both ways but never knew it was an option. We were running used Dogs never getting to spec new ones back then!
@@deborahchesser7375 that's awesome that you got to grow up with trucks like that I grew up around trucks and old tractors and what not not so it's it's in my blood Sadly the Model R on this video that I showed as the second truck is gone don't know where it went what happened to it which is sad
Thanks man I really appreciate it and yeah I like the first one too but the second Mack I liked more because of how the hood was shaped with the front end
Jerry Kinnin Hell yeh they are, especially the way the DM’s look so rugged. Definitely a purpose built truck. My wife said they are so ugly their pretty. Form follows function and those ol girls could could do,it all, for a very long time.
Drove alot of two stick mack but that config there in the first R model with the extra stick ...i say this because the other stick with multiple air lines was the standard mack 8 speed which was a great transmission reverse on the air split meant you had 5 gears in reverse IF you could get out of the low hole hahaha that steel nose DM is so fucking cool as a flat bed ...only thing remotely in those leagues are the old autocar construktor
Yeah I haven't seen or found any other model R trucks with a twin stick trans The other one with the flatbed is actually an RD686s which again I haven't seen or found another one like it since I have a couple more videos of some Mack trucks that I think you'd enjoy you should check them out
Thank you Ah alright, I wasn't quite sure what model it was at first I hadn't seen a DM in a long time Thanks for the information though glad to learn new things 👍
That mack you showed @2:30 is what my father taught me to shift a twin stick in, I cant remember the model there all steel tho, love the design or both them an the R's.
That's awesome I'd like to own the model R that I showed first in the video but I've got other priorities right now like college They're definitely cool trucks that's for sure
