Theres a combat log but agreed its quick and hard to parse at times. Its less hard to read a few hours in especially once you have gear and party members to better stand up to threats.

Every fantasy ruleset for the last twenty years is D&D inspired. That's just how influential 3.5 was.

@@renatocorvaro6924 Ehh I wouldn't say "every." Honestly I'm not sure I'd even say "most." Really depends on how loose you want to go with it. I mean ultimately things like ability scores are just common words, and depending on how many you want to use pretty much any system with stats describing organic beings is going to come out pretty similar in language. I think it's kind of just that D&D at it's heart pulls so heavily from folklore and has such a generalist approach that it tends to seem similar to a lot regardless. Honestly this game seems to have more in common with something like the Exile games than it does D&D. TBH I don't think this title is very much like the Gold Box games at all. Which BTW if you like this kinda of stuff, and have never played them, Exile 1/2/3 were pretty great, with Exile 3: Ruined World being the standout. You'd need something like Winevdm to get it running well on modern PC's though.
