I played the first one and it was a solid 7~8/10 in my eyes. (For scale, 5 is an ok game for me) so I consider it pretty good / great.

Basically every attempt is different, different skills, bosses, etc not every attempt is the same with a few exceptions

Touch more detailed, 'Rogue' was an old game that was basically permadeath and lost all progress on death etc, with changes in each run (iirc) So Rogue-Like is that, usually fairly difficult with no progression outside of runs Rogue-Lite is similar, except there is progression between runs. Whether that's character upgrades, equipment, even *unlocking* equipment to randomly find still makes it a rogue-lite, even as your starting position is the same.
