I take Hapkido in Darien CT, wanted to see if you can post a Hapkido Throw that resembles the Shihonage Jujitsu Throw or 4 Corner Throw, at our school we call this Bakun Hyechun and wanted to see if you guys use this throw and how it works at your school. My Kwan Jin Nim who is from Korea has retired we have a 5th Degree Master who is in charge of the Hapkido, but would like to see another Hapkido School using this technique. Thanks Pete
Hey Pete, You said you do Hapkido then WHY did you use Japanese Aikido terminology? Also for Korean terminology, Kwan Jang Nim is correct NOT Kwan Jin Nim. By the way, that throw will not work well for bigger and stronger opponents unless they cooperate with the partner. Just to let you know that those Aikido stuff doesn’t work well in reality, so don’t be fooled by someone who doesn’t know much about what they are doing. They look good for demo though. I am just being honest, no offense please.
@@peterweberg6819 So what do you meant “ Kwan Jin Nim” in your understanding? We don’t have that in Korean. Kwan Jang Nim means the owner of the school in Korean. By the way, you didn’t answer my question why you guys use Aikido terminology in Hapkido. Any particular reason?
We dont use Aikido Terminology in our school. My Grand Master was born in 1943 in Korea was one of the students of Choi the founder of Hapkido, his English was not great so I and others would look at Aikido Techniques because there are some similarities in techniques but Hapkido is so much harsher as you know. Our Grandmaster would just say Ane Hychun or Dee Jib Kee or Dee Hyechun or Bakun Hyechun and we would do those categories of techniques. We use a Bakun Hyechun Throw that is similar to the Aikido 4 Corner Throw but i have been researching the internet for Hapkido Techniques your Master of Hapkido University demonstrates techniques that my master has taught us over the years. There are alot of Hapkido Videos out there that do not resemble your masters style like my masters. I have had practiced with alot of people around the country who studied Hapkido but when they would come from California or other parts of the country to meet my master and they would practice at our school they all said the same thing they were never taught what we are practicing. My master would tell me that are just calling it hapkido but its just self defense techniques. I wanted to check the meaning if it was Owner of School, I already heard that from another Student from another school but wanted to verify it. I have been studying under Yong Man Lee since 1998. I always asked him to create a book so we can have set blueprint to teach from but he would say that is not how he was taught in Korea, he would say come to class and practice while I watch.
@@peterweberg6819 He is an old school Korean Hapkidoin for sure. Well, I am going to have a seminar in September 2021 so if you would like to see more variety of Hapkido then you are most welcome. Please do me a favor don’t use Japanese terminology as long as you study Hapkido. If you start training Hapkido from 1998 then you should know more about Korean culture, etiquette, terminology and much more ..peace 🙏
